1 أ بْناءُ يَهُوذا هُمْ فارَصُ وَحَصْرُونُ وَكَرْمِي وَحُورُ وشُوبالُ.

¶ The sons of Judah: Pharez, Hezron, Carmi, Hur, and Shobal.

2 و َأنجَبَ رَآيا بْنُ شُوبالَ يَحَثَ، وَأنجَبَ يَحَثُ أخُومايَ وَلاهَدَ. كانَ هَؤُلاءِ عَشائِرَ الصَّرْعِيِّينَ.

And Reaiah, the son of Shobal, begat Jahath, and Jahath begat Ahumai and Lahad. These are the families of the Zorathites.

3 و َهَؤُلاءِ هُمْ آباءُ عِيطَمَ: يَزْرَعِيلُ وَيَشْما وَيَدْباشُ، وَكانَتْ لَهُمْ أُختٌ اسْمُها هَصَّلَلْفُونِي.

And these were of the father of Etam: Jezreel, Ishma, and Idbash, and the name of their sister was Hazelelponi.

4 و كانَ فَنُوئِيلُ أبا جَدُورَ، وَعازَرُ أبا حُوشَةَ. كانَ هَؤُلاءِ أبْناءَ حُورَ، بِكْرِ أفْراتَةَ، وَمُؤسِّسِ مَدينَةِ بَيْتِ لَحْمٍ.

And Penuel, the father of Gedor, and Ezer, the father of Hushah. These were the sons of Hur, the firstborn of Ephratah, the father of Bethlehem.

5 و َكانَ لِأشْحُورَ، مُؤسِّسِ مَدينَةِ تَقُوعَ، زَوْجَتانِ هُما حَلاةُ وَنَعْرَةُ.

And Ashur, the father of Tekoa, had two wives, Helah and Naarah.

6 و َأنجَبَتْ لَهُ نَعْرَةُ أخُزّامَ وَحافَرَ وَتِمْنايَ وَأخَشْتارِي. كانَ هَؤُلاءِ أبْناءَ نَعْرَةَ.

And Naarah gave birth to Ahuzam, Hepher, Temeni, and Haahashtari unto him. These were the sons of Naarah.

7 أ مّا أبْناءُ حَلاةَ فهُمْ صَرَثُ وَصُوحَرُ وَأثْنانُ وَقُوصُ.

And the sons of Helah: Zereth, Jezoar, and Ethnan.

8 و َأنجَبَ قُوصُ عانُوبَ وَهَصُوبِيبَةَ، وَعَشائِرَ أخَرْحِيلَ بْنِ هارُمَ.

And Coz begat Anub and Zobebah and the family of Aharhel, the son of Harum.

9 و َكانَ يَعْبِيصُ ذا كَرامَةٍ أكْثَرَ مِنْ جَميعِ إخْوَتِهِ. وَقَدْ سَمَّتْهُ أُمُّهُ «يَعْبِيصَ» إذْ قالَتْ: «لِأنِّي تَألَّمْتُ وَأنا ألِدُهُ.»

And Jabez was more honoured than his brethren, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I gave birth to him with sorrow.

10 و َصَلَّى يَعْبِيصُ إلَى إلَهِ إسْرائِيلَ وَقالَ: «لَيتَكَ تُبارِكُنِي، وَتُوَسِّعُ حُدُودِي. وَتَظَلُّ يَدُكَ مَعِي، تُبعِدُنِي عَنِ الشَّرَّ، حَتَّى لا يُؤذينِي.» فَأعطاهُ اللهُ ما طَلَبَهُ.

And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou would bless me indeed and enlarge my border and that thy hand might be with me and that thou would deliver me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.

11 و َأنجَبَ كَلُوبُ، أخُو شُوحَةَ، مَحِيرَ أبا أشْتُونَ.

¶ And Chelub, the brother of Shuah, begat Mehir, who was the father of Eshton.

12 و َأنجَبَ أشْتُونُ بَيْتَ رافا وَفاسِحَ وَتَحِنَّةَ مُؤسِّسَ مَدينَةِ ناحاشَ. كانَ هَؤُلاءِ أهلَ رَيْكَةَ.

And Eshton begat Bethrapha, Paseah, and Tehinnah, the father of Irnahash. These are the men of Rechah.

13 و َابْنا قَنازَ هُما عُثْنِيئِيلُ وَسَرايا. وَابْنا عُثْنِيئِيلَ هُما حَثاثُ وَمَعُونُوثايُ.

The sons of Kenaz: Othniel and Seraiah. The sons of Othniel: Hathath

14 و َأنجَبَ مَعُونُوثايُ عَفْرَةَ. وَأنجَبَ سَرايا يُوآبَ، مُؤسِّسَ مَدينَةِ جِي حَراشِيمَ. سُمِّيَتْ كَذَلِكَ لِأنَّ أهلَها حِرَفِيُّونَ ماهِرُونَ.

and Meonothai, who begat Ophrah. And Seraiah begat Joab, the father of the inhabitants of the valley of Charashim, for they were craftsmen.

15 أ بْناءُ كالَبَ بْنِ يَفُنَّةَ هُمْ عِيرُو وَأيلَةُ وَناعِمُ. وَأنْجَبَ أيلةُ قَنازَ.

The sons of Caleb, the son of Jephunneh: Iru, Elah, and Naam; and Kenaz was the son of Elah.

16 أ بْناءُ يَهلَلْئِيلَ هُمْ زِيفُ وَزِيفَةُ وَتِيرِيّا وَأسَرْئِيلُ.

The sons of Jehaleleel: Ziph, Ziphah, Tiria, and Asareel.

17 أ بْناءُ عَزْرَةَ هُمْ يَثَرُ وَمَرَدُ وَعافِرُ وَيالُونُ. هَؤُلاءِ هُمْ أبْناءُ بِثْيَةَ المِصْرِيَّةِ الَّتِي تَزَوَّجَها مَرَدُ. وَحَبِلَتْ بِثْيَةُ وَأنجَبَتْ لِمَرَدَ مَرْيَمَ وَشَمّايَ وَيِشْبَحَ، مُؤسِّسَ مَدينَةِ أشْتَمُوعَ.

And the sons of Ezra: Jether, Mered, Epher, and Jalon; and also begat Miriam, Shammai, and Ishbah, the father of Eshtemoa.

18 و َأنجَبَتِ امرَأتُهُ الَّتِي مِنْ يَهُوذا يارِدَ، مُؤسِّسَ مَدينَةِ جَدُورَ، وَحابِرَ، مُؤسِّسَ مَدينَةِ سُوكُو، وَيَقُوثِيئِيلَ، مُؤسِّسَ مَدينَةِ زانُوحَ.

And his wife Jehudijah gave birth unto him Jered, the father of Gedor, and Heber, the father of Socho, and Jekuthiel, the father of Zanoah. And these are the sons of Bithiah, the daughter of Pharaoh, which Mered took.

19 و َابْنا مَرَدَ مِنْ زَوجَتِهِ الَّتِي مِنْ يَهُوذا، أُختِ نَحَمَ، هُما أبُو قَعِيلَةَ الجَرْمِيُّ وَأشْتَمُوعُ المَعْكِيُّ.

And the sons of the wife of Hodiah, the sister of Naham, were the father of Keilah, the Garmite, and Eshtemoa, the Maachathite.

20 و َأبْناءُ شِيمُونَ هُمْ أمنُونُ وَرِنَّةُ بْنُ حانانَ وَتَيلُونُ. وَابْنا يَشْعِي هُما زُوحَيْتُ وَبَنْزُوحَيْتُ.

And the sons of Shimon: Amnon, Rinnah, Benhanan, and Tilon. And the sons of Ishi: Zoheth and Benzoheth.

21 أ بْناءُ شِيلَةَ ابْنِ يَهُوذا: عِيرُ مُؤسِّسُ مَدينَةِ لَيكَةَ، وَلَعْدَةُ مُؤسِّسُ مَدينَةِ مَرِيشَةَ، وَعَشائِرُ عُمّالِ الكِتّانِ فِي بَيتِ أشْبِيعَ،

The sons of Shelah, the son of Judah: Er, the father of Lecah, and Laadah, the father of Mareshah, and the families of the house of those that wrought fine linen, of the house of Ashbea,

22 و َيُوقِيمُ، وَأهلُ كَزِيبا وَيُوآشُ وَسارافُ الَّذِينَ كانُوا حُكّامَ مُوآبَ وَعادُوا إلَى بَيْتَ لَحمَ. وَهَذِهِ السِّجِلّاتُ مَعْرُوفَةٌ مُنْذُ القَدِيمِ.

and Jokim and the men of Chozeba, and Joash and Saraph, who had the dominion in Moab, and Jashubilehem. And these are ancient words.

23 ك انَ هؤلاءِ الخَزّافِينَ سُكّانَ نَتاعِيمَ وَجَدِيرَةَ. سَكَنُوا هُناكَ مَعَ المَلِكِ لِيَشْتَغِلُوا عِنْدَهُ. نَسلُ شِمْعُون

These were the potters and those that dwelt among plants and hedges, who dwelt there with the king for his work.

24 أ بْناءُ شِمْعُونَ: نَمُوئِيلُ وَيامِينُ وَيَرِيبُ، وَزارَحُ، وَشاوُلُ.

¶ The sons of Simeon: Nemuel, Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, Saul;

25 و َكانَ شَلُّومُ ابْنَ شاوُلَ، وَابْنُهُ مِبْسامُ، وَابْنُهُ مِشْماعُ.

also Shallum, his son, Mibsam, his son, and Mishma, his son.

26 أ بْناءُ مِشْماعَ: ابْنُهُ حَمُوئِيلُ، وَابْنُهُ زَكُّورُ، وَابْنُهُ شَمْعَى.

The sons of Mishma: Hamuel, his son, Zacchur, his son, Shimei his son.

27 و َكانَ لِشَمْعَى سِتَّةَ عَشَرَ ابْناً وَسِتَّ بَناتٍ، وَلَكِنَّ إخْوَتَه لَمْ يُنجِبوا أبْناءً كَثِيرِينَ. فَلَمْ يَكثُرُوا بِعَدَدِ أهلِ يَهُوذا.

And Shimei had sixteen sons and six daughters, but his brethren did not have many children, neither did all their family multiply, like the sons of Judah.

28 و َسَكَنُوا فِي بِئْرِ السَّبْعِ وَمُولادَةَ وَحَصْرِ شُوعالَ

And they dwelt at Beersheba and Moladah and Hazarshual

29 و َبِلْهَةَ وَعاصِمَ وَتُولادَ

and at Bilhah and at Ezem and at Tolad

30 و َبَتُوئِيلَ وَحُرْمَةَ وَصِقلَغَ

and at Bethuel and at Hormah and at Ziklag

31 و َبَيتَ مَرْكَبُوتَ وَحَصْرَ سُوسِيمَ وَبَيتَ بِرْئِي وَشَعَرايِمَ. كانَتْ هَذِهِ مَدَنَهَمْ إلَى أنْ صارَ داوُدُ مَلِكاً.

and at Bethmarcaboth and Hazarsusim and at Bethbirei and at Shaaraim. These were their cities until the reign of David.

32 و َكانَتْ قُراهُمْ عِيطَمَ وَعَينَ وَرِمُّونَ وَتُوكَنَ وَعاشانَ. وَمَجمُوعُها خَمْسُ مُدُنٍ.

And their villages were Etam, Ain, Rimmon, Tochen, and Ashan, five cities;

33 ف َضلاً عَنْ كُلِّ قُراهُمُ المُحِيطَةِ بِهَذِهِ المُدُنِ إلَى بَعلٍ. كانَتْ هَذِهِ أماكِنَ إقامَتِهِمْ، وَقَدِ احتَفَظُوا بِسِجِلِّ أنْسابٍ.

and all their villages that were round about the same cities, unto Baal. These were their habitations and their genealogy.

34 م َشُوبابُ وَيَملِيكُ وَيُوشا بْنُ أمَصْيا.

And Meshobab and Jamlech and Joshah, the son of Amaziah,

35 و َيُوئِيلُ وَياهُو بْنُ يُوشِيّا بْنِ سَرايا بْنِ عَسِيئِيلَ

and Joel and Jehu, the son of Josibiah, the son of Seraiah, the son of Asiel,

36 و َألِيُوعِينايُ وَيَعقُوبا وَيَشُوحايا وَعَسايا وَعَدِيئِيلُ وَيَسِيمِيئِيلُ وَبَنايا

and Elioenai, Jaakobah, Jeshohaiah, Asaiah, Adiel, Jesimiel, Benaiah,

37 و َزِيزا بْنُ شِفْعِي بْنِ ألُّونَ بْنِ يَدايا بْنِ شِمْرِي بْنِ شَمَعْيا.

and Ziza, the son of Shiphi, the son of Allon, the son of Jedaiah, the son of Shimri, the son of Shemaiah.

38 و َكانَ هَؤُلاءِ المُدرَجُونَ حَسَبَ أسْمائِهِمْ قادَةً فِي عَشائِرِهِمْ. وَقَدْ نَمَتْ عائِلاتُهُمْ فَصارَتْ كَبِيرَةً جِدّاً.

These mentioned by their names were princes in their families, and they were multiplied greatly in the house of their fathers.

39 ف َذَهَبُوا إلَى المِنْطَقَةِ المُجاوِرَةِ لِمَدِينَةِ جَدُورَ إلَى الشَّرْقِ مِنَ الوادِي سَعْياً إلَى مَراعٍ لِمَواشِيهِمْ.

And they came unto the entrance of Gedor, even unto the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks.

40 ف َوَجَدُوا مَرعَى خَصْباً، وَكانَتِ الأرْضُ فَسِيحَةً وَهادِئَةً وَمُسالِمَةً، لِأنَّ الَّذِينَ سَكَنُوا هُناكَ مِنْ قَبلُ كانُوا مِنْ نَسلِ حامِ.

And they found fat pasture and good, and the land was wide and spacious and quiet and peaceable, for the sons of Ham had dwelt there of old.

41 أ مّا الَّذِينَ ذُكِرَتْ أسْماؤهُمْ فَجاءُوا فِي عَهْدِ حَزَقِيّا مَلِكِ يَهُوذا. وَدَمَّرُوا خِيامَ الحامِيِّينَ وَالمَعُونِيِّينَ الَّذِينَ هُناكَ، وَأبادُوهُمْ كَما هُوَ وَاضِحٌ إلَى يَوْمِنا هَذا. وَاسْتَقَرُّوا فِي مَكانِهِمْ، لِأنَّهُ كانَتْ هُناكَ مَراعٍ لِمَواشِيهِمْ.

And these written by name came in the days of Hezekiah, king of Judah and smote their tents and the habitations that were found there and destroyed them utterly unto this day and dwelt in their place because there was pasture there for their flocks.

42 و َذَهَبَ بَعْضُ الشِّمْعُونِيِّينَ إلَى مِنْطَقَةِ سَعِيرَ الجَبَلِيَّةِ، وَكانَ عَدَدُهُمْ خَمْسَ مِئَةِ رَجُلٍ تَحتَ قِيادَةِ فَلَطْيا وَنَعَرْيا وَرَفايا وَعُزِّيئِيلَ، أبْناءِ شَمْعَى.

And likewise five hundred men of them, of the sons of Simeon, went to Mount Seir, having for their captains Pelatiah and Neariah and Rephaiah and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi.

43 ف َقَضَى هَؤُلاءِ عَلَى بَقِيَّةِ بَنِي عَمالِيقَ الَّذِينَ نَجَوْا. وَسَكَنَ الشِّمْعُونِيُّونَ هُناكَ إلَى يَوْمِنا هَذا.

And they smote the rest of the Amalekites that were escaped and dwelt there unto this day.
