1 P alabra que vino de Jehová a Jeremías, diciendo:

¶ The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

2 « Oíd las palabras de este pacto, y hablad a todo hombre de Judá y a todo habitante de Jerusalén.

Hear ye the words of this covenant, and speak unto every man of Judah and to every inhabitant of Jerusalem;

3 D ecidles que así ha dicho Jehová, Dios de Israel: “Maldito el que no obedezca las palabras de este pacto,

and thou shalt say unto them, Thus hath the LORD God of Israel said: Cursed be the man that does not hear the words of this covenant,

4 e l cual mandé a vuestros padres el día que los saqué de la tierra de Egipto, del horno de hierro, diciéndoles: Oíd mi voz y cumplid mis palabras conforme a todo lo que os mando. Entonces vosotros seréis mi pueblo y yo seré vuestro Dios.

which I commanded your fathers the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, from the iron furnace, saying unto them, hear my voice and comply with my words according to all which I command you; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God

5 A sí confirmaré el juramento que hice a vuestros padres, que les daría la tierra que fluye leche y miel, como en este día.”» Yo respondí y dije: «¡Amén, Jehová!»

that I may confirm the oath which I have sworn unto your fathers, that I would give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as it is this day. Then I answered, and said, Amen, O LORD.

6 J ehová me dijo: «Proclama todas estas palabras en las ciudades de Judá y en las calles de Jerusalén, diciendo: “Oíd las palabras de este pacto y ponedlas por obra.

And the LORD said unto me, Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, Hear ye the words of this covenant and do them.

7 P orque solemnemente advertí a vuestros padres el día que los hice subir de la tierra de Egipto, amonestándolos sin cesar, desde el principio hasta el día de hoy, diciendo: ¡Escuchad mi voz!

For I earnestly protested unto your fathers in the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, even unto this day, rising early and protesting, saying, Hear my voice.

8 P ero no escucharon ni inclinaron su oído; antes bien, se fueron cada uno tras la imaginación de su malvado corazón. Por tanto, traeré sobre ellos todas las palabras de este pacto, el cual mandé que cumplieran, y no cumplieron.”»

Yet they did not hear, nor did they incline their ear, but walked each one in the imagination of their evil heart; therefore I will bring upon them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do; but they did them not.

9 M e dijo Jehová: «Conspiración se ha hallado entre los hombres de Judá y entre los habitantes de Jerusalén.

And the LORD said unto me, A conspiracy is found among the men of Judah and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

10 S e han vuelto a las maldades de sus primeros padres, los cuales no quisieron escuchar mis palabras y se fueron tras dioses ajenos para servirlos. La casa de Israel y la casa de Judá quebrantaron mi pacto, el cual había yo concertado con sus padres.

They have returned to the iniquities of their first fathers, who refused to hear my words; and they went after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers.

11 P or tanto, así ha dicho Jehová: Yo traigo sobre ellos un mal del que no podrán escapar. Clamarán a mí, pero no los escucharé.

¶ Therefore thus hath the LORD said, Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which they shall not be able to escape; and though they shall cry unto me, I will not hearken unto them.

12 E ntonces irán las ciudades de Judá y los habitantes de Jerusalén a clamar a los dioses a quienes queman incienso, los cuales no los podrán salvar en el tiempo de su mal.

Then shall the cities of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem go and cry unto the gods unto whom they offer incense, who shall not be able to save them in the time of their trouble.

13 P orque según el número de tus ciudades fueron tus dioses, Judá; y según el número de tus calles, Jerusalén, pusiste los altares de ignominia, altares para ofrecer incienso a Baal.

For according to the number of thy cities were thy gods, O Judah; and according to the number of thy streets, O Jerusalem, have ye set up altars of confusion, even altars to burn incense unto Baal.

14 » Tú, pues, no ores por este pueblo: no levantes por ellos clamor ni oración, porque yo no los escucharé el día en que por su aflicción clamen a mí.

Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up a cry or prayer for them for I will not hear them in the time that they cry unto me in their trouble.

15 » ¿Qué derecho tiene mi amada en mi Casa, habiendo hecho tantas abominaciones? ¿Crees que los sacrificios y la carne consagrada de las víctimas pueden evitarte el castigo? ¿Puedes gloriarte de eso?

What part has my beloved in my house, seeing she has wrought lewdness with many? The holy flesh shall pass from upon thee, for in thy evil thou didst glory.

16 O livo verde, hermoso en su fruto y en su aspecto, llamó Jehová tu nombre. Pero al son de un recio estrépito hizo encender fuego sobre él, y se quebraron sus ramas.

The LORD called thy name, A green olive tree, beautiful in fruit and in appearance. At the voice of a great word he caused fire to be kindled upon it, and they broke her branches.

17 » Porque Jehová de los ejércitos, que te plantó, ha decretado el mal contra ti, a causa de la maldad que la casa de Israel y la casa de Judá han cometido, provocándome a ira al quemar incienso a Baal.» Complot contra Jeremías

For the LORD of the hosts, that planted thee, has pronounced evil against thee for the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done against themselves to provoke me to anger in offering incense unto Baal.

18 J ehová me lo hizo saber, y lo supe; entonces me hiciste ver sus obras.

¶ And the LORD gave me knowledge of it, and I experienced it: then thou didst show me their doings.

19 Y o era como un cordero inocente que llevan a degollar, pues no entendía que maquinaban designios contra mí, diciendo: «Destruyamos el árbol con su fruto, cortémoslo de la tierra de los vivientes, para que no haya más memoria de su nombre.»

But I was like a ram or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; for I did not understand that they had devised devices against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, and let us cut him off from the land of the living that his name may no longer be remembered.

20 P ero tú, Jehová de los ejércitos, que juzgas con justicia, que escudriñas la mente y el corazón, déjame ver tu venganza sobre ellos, porque ante ti he expuesto mi causa.

But, O LORD of the hosts, that judges righteously, that tries the kidneys and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them, for unto thee I have uncovered my cause.

21 P or tanto, así ha dicho Jehová acerca de los hombres de Anatot que buscan tu vida, diciendo: «No profetices en nombre de Jehová, para que no mueras a nuestras manos.»

Therefore, thus hath the LORD said regarding the men of Anathoth that seek thy life, saying, Do not prophesy in the name of the LORD that thou not die by our hand;

22 A sí, pues, ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos: «Yo los castigaré: los jóvenes morirán a espada, sus hijos y sus hijas morirán de hambre.

therefore, thus hath the LORD of the hosts said, Behold, I visit: the young men shall die by the sword; their sons and their daughters shall die by famine:

23 N o quedará ni un resto de ellos, pues yo traeré el mal sobre los hombres de Anatot, en el año de su castigo.»

and there shall be no remnant of them: for I will bring evil upon the men of Anathoth, even the year of their visitation.
