1 M ejor es el pobre que camina en integridad que el fatuo de labios perversos.
¶ Better is the poor that walks in his integrity than he that is perverse in his lips and is a fool.
2 E l alma sin ciencia no es buena, y aquel que se precipita, peca.
¶ That the soul be without wisdom is not good, and he that hastens with his feet sins.
3 L a insensatez del hombre tuerce su camino y luego se irrita su corazón contra Jehová.
¶ The foolishness of man perverts his way, and his heart is wroth against the LORD.
4 L as riquezas atraen muchos amigos, pero el pobre, hasta de su amigo es apartado.
¶ Wealth makes many friends, but the poor is separated from his neighbour.
5 E l testigo falso no quedará sin castigo, y el que dice mentiras no escapará.
¶ A false witness shall not go unpunished, and he that speaks lies shall not escape.
6 M uchos buscan el favor del generoso, y todos son amigos del hombre que da.
¶ Many will intreat the favour of the prince, but every man is a friend to him that gives.
7 S i todos los hermanos del pobre lo aborrecen, ¡cuánto más sus amigos se alejarán de él! Buscará una palabra y no la hallará.
All the brethren of the poor hate him; how much more shall his friends separate themselves from him? He shall seek their friendship and not find it.
8 E l que posee entendimiento ama su alma; el que cuida la inteligencia hallará el bien.
¶ He that gets wisdom loves his own soul; he keeps intelligence that he might find that which is good.
9 E l testigo falso no quedará sin castigo, y el que dice mentiras perecerá.
¶ The false witness shall not go unpunished, and he that speaks lies shall perish.
10 N o es propio de un necio vivir entre lujos, ¡cuánto menos que un esclavo sea señor de los príncipes!
¶ Delight is not suitable for a fool; much less for a slave to have rule over princes.
11 L a cordura del hombre aplaca su furor, y un honor le es pasar por alto la ofensa.
¶ The discretion of a man defers his anger, and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.
12 C omo el rugido de un cachorro de león es la ira del rey, y su favor, como el rocío sobre la hierba.
¶ The king’s wrath is as the roaring of a lion, but his favour is as dew upon the grass.
13 D olor es para el padre un hijo necio y gotera continua las contiendas de la mujer.
¶ A foolish son is a pain unto his father, and the contentions of a wife are a continual dripping.
14 L a casa y las riquezas son herencia de los padres, pero don de Jehová es la mujer prudente.
¶ House and riches are the inheritance from fathers, but the prudent wife is from the LORD.
15 L a pereza hace caer en profundo sueño y la persona negligente padecerá hambre.
¶ Slothfulness casts into a deep sleep, and the negligent soul shall suffer hunger.
16 E l que guarda el mandamiento guarda su vida, pero morirá el que menosprecia los caminos de Jehová.
¶ He that keeps the commandment keeps his own soul, but he that despises his ways shall die.
17 A Jehová presta el que da al pobre; el bien que ha hecho se lo devolverá.
¶ He that gives unto the poor lends unto the LORD, and he will give him his reward.
18 C astiga a tu hijo mientras haya esperanza, pero no se excite tu ánimo hasta destruirlo.
¶ Chasten thy son while there is hope, but do not stir up thy soul to destroy him.
19 E l que se deja arrebatar por la ira llevará el castigo, y si usa de violencias, añadirá nuevos males.
¶ A man of great wrath shall suffer the consequences, for even if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again.
20 E scucha el consejo y acepta la corrección: así serás sabio en tu vejez.
¶ Hear counsel, and receive chastening that thou may be wise in thy old age.
21 M uchos pensamientos hay en el corazón del hombre, pero el consejo de Jehová es el que permanece.
¶ There are many thoughts in the heart of man; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD shall stand.
22 U na satisfacción es para el hombre hacer misericordia, y mejor es un pobre que un mentiroso.
¶ Contentment is unto men to show mercy, but it is better to do it unto the poor than to the liar.
23 E l temor de Jehová lleva a la vida: con él vive del todo tranquilo el hombre y no es visitado por el mal.
¶ The fear of the LORD is unto life, and he that has it shall live satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.
24 E l perezoso mete su mano en el plato, pero ni aun es capaz de llevársela a la boca.
¶ The slothful man hides his hand in his bosom and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.
25 H iere al escarnecedor y el ingenuo se hará precavido; corrige al inteligente y aumentará su conocimiento.
¶ Smite a scorner, and the simple will become prudent, and reproving one that has understanding, he will understand knowledge.
26 E l que roba a su padre y ahuyenta a su madre es un hijo que causa vergüenza y acarrea oprobio.
¶ He that steals from his father and chases away his mother is a son that causes shame and brings reproach.
27 C esa, hijo mío, de prestar oído a enseñanzas que te hacen divagar de la sabiduría.
¶ Cease, my son, to hear the teaching that induces one to deviate from the reasons of wisdom.
28 E l testigo perverso se burla del juicio; la boca de los malvados encubre la iniquidad.
¶ A witness of Belial shall scorn judgment, and the mouth of the wicked shall cover iniquity.
29 P reparados hay juicios para los escarnecedores y azotes para las espaldas de los necios.
¶ Judgments are prepared for scorners and stripes for the back of fools.
