¶ Aleph I am a man that sees affliction in the rod of his wrath.

2 É l me ha guiado, me ha llevado por tinieblas y no por la luz;

Aleph He has led me and brought me into darkness, but not into light.

3 c iertamente contra mí vuelve sin cesar su mano todo el día.

Aleph Surely he is turned against me; he turns his hand against me all the day.

4 É l hizo envejecer mi carne y mi piel y quebrantó mis huesos;

Beth My flesh and my skin he has made old; he has broken my bones.

5 l evantó baluartes contra mí y me rodeó de amargura y trabajo.

Beth He has built against me and compassed me with gall and travail.

6 M e dejó en oscuridad, como los que murieron hace ya mucho tiempo.

Beth He has set me in dark places as those that are dead for ever.

7 M e cercó por todos lados y no puedo salir; ha agravado mis cadenas.

Gimel He has hedged me about that I cannot get out; he has made my chain heavy.

8 A unque clamo y doy voces, él cierra los oídos a mi oración.

Gimel Even when I cried and shouted, he shut out my prayer.

9 É l cercó mis caminos con piedra labrada, torció mis senderos.

Gimel He has enclosed my ways with hewn stone; he has made my paths crooked.

10 F ue para mí como un oso en acecho, como un león que se agazapa.

Daleth He was unto me as a bear lying in wait and as a lion in secret places.

11 T orció mis caminos y me despedazó; me dejó desolado.

Daleth He has made my ways crooked and pulled me in pieces; he has made me desolate.

12 T ensó su arco y me puso por blanco de la saeta.

Daleth He has bent his bow and set me as a mark for the arrow.

13 H a clavado en mis entrañas las saetas de su aljaba.

He He has caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my kidneys.

14 S oy el escarnio de todo mi pueblo, el objeto de su burla día tras día.

He I was a derision to all my people and their song every day.

15 M e ha llenado de amargura, me ha embriagado de ajenjo.

He He has filled me with bitterness, he has made me drunk with wormwood.

16 M is dientes quebró con guijarros y me cubrió de ceniza.

Vau He has broken my teeth with gravel stones; he has covered me with ashes.

17 Y mi alma se alejó de la paz, me olvidé del bien

Vau My soul removed itself far from peace; I forgot about good.

18 y dije: «Perecieron mis fuerzas y mi esperanza en Jehová.»

Vau And I said, My strength and my hope of the LORD is perished.

19 A cuérdate de mi aflicción y de mi abatimiento, del ajenjo y de la hiel.

Zain Remember my affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall.

20 A ún lo tengo en la memoria, porque mi alma está abatida dentro de mí.

Zain My soul shall have them still in remembrance because it is humbled in me.

21 P ero esto consideraré en mi corazón, y por esto esperaré:

¶ Zain This shall go down into my heart; therefore I shall wait.

22 Q ue por la misericordia de Jehová no hemos sido consumidos, porque nunca decayeron sus misericordias;

Chet It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed because his mercies never diminish.

23 n uevas son cada mañana. ¡Grande es tu fidelidad!

Chet They are new every morning; great is thy faith.

24 « Mi porción es Jehová; por tanto, en él esperaré», dice mi alma.

Chet The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore I will wait for him.

25 B ueno es Jehová a los que en él esperan, al alma que lo busca.

Teth The LORD is good unto those that wait in him, to the soul that seeks him.

26 B ueno es esperar en silencio la salvación de Jehová.

Teth It is good to wait quietly in the salvation of the LORD.

27 B ueno le es al hombre llevar el yugo desde su juventud.

Teth It is good for the man if he bears the yoke from his youth.

28 Q ue se siente solo y calle, porque es Dios quien se lo impuso;

Jod He shall sit alone and keep silence because he has borne it upon him.

29 p onga su boca en el polvo, por si aún hay esperanza;

Jod He shall put his mouth in the dust; if so be there may be hope.

30 d é la mejilla al que lo hiere y sea colmado de afrentas.

Jod He shall turn his cheek unto him that smites him; he shall be filled with reproach.

31 E l Señor no rechaza para siempre;

Caph For the Lord will not cast off for ever:

32 a ntes bien, si aflige, también se compadece según su gran misericordia,

Caph But though he causes grief, yet he will also have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.

33 p ues no se complace en afligir o entristecer a los hijos de los hombres.

Caph For he does not afflict nor grieve the sons of men from his heart.

34 D esmenuzar bajo los pies a todos los encarcelados de la tierra,

Lamed To crush under his feet all the prisoners of the earth,

35 t orcer el derecho del hombre ante la presencia del Altísimo

Lamed To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the most High,

36 o trastornar al hombre en un proceso, son cosas que el Señor no aprueba.

Lamed To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord does not approve.

37 ¿ Quién puede decir que algo sucede sin que el Señor lo mande?

¶ Mem Who shall he be that saith that something comes which the Lord has not sent?

38 ¿ Acaso no proceden de la boca del Altísimo los bienes y los males?

Mem Out of the mouth of the most High proceeds not evil and good?

39 ¿ Por qué se lamenta el hombre, si está vivo a pesar de su pecado?

Mem Why does the living man have pain, the man in his sins?

40 E scudriñemos nuestros caminos, busquemos y volvámonos a Jehová;

Nun Let us search out our ways, and seek, and turn again to the LORD.

41 l evantemos corazón y manos al Dios de los cielos.

Nun Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens.

42 N osotros nos rebelamos y fuimos desleales, y tú no perdonaste.

¶ Nun We have rebelled and been disloyal; therefore thou hast not forgiven.

43 D esplegada tu ira, nos perseguiste; mataste, y no perdonaste;

Samech Thou hast unfurled anger and persecuted us; thou hast slain, thou hast not forgiven.

44 t e ocultaste en una nube para que no te llegara nuestra oración;

Samech Thou hast covered thyself with a cloud that our prayer should not pass through.

45 n os convertiste en oprobio y abominación en medio de los pueblos.

Samech Thou hast made us as the offscouring and abomination in the midst of the peoples.

46 T odos nuestros enemigos abrieron su boca contra nosotros;

Pe All our enemies have opened their mouths upon us.

47 T emor y lazo vinieron sobre nosotros, asolamiento y quebranto.

Pe Fear and a snare is come upon us, desolation and destruction.

48 R íos de lágrimas brotan de mis ojos por el quebrantamiento de la hija de mi pueblo.

Pe My eyes stream with rivers of water for the destruction of the daughter of my people.

49 M is ojos destilan sin cesar, porque no habrá alivio

Ain My eyes run down, and cease not, for there is no relief,

50 h asta que Jehová mire y vea desde los cielos.

Ain Until the LORD looks down, and beholds from the heavens.

51 M is ojos me han entristecido el alma a causa de todas las hijas de mi ciudad.

Ain My eyes make my soul sad because of all the daughters of my city.

52 M is enemigos, sin tener por qué, me han dado caza como a un ave;

Tzaddi My enemies hunted me like a bird, without cause.

53 m e ataron vivo en una cisterna, y la cerraron con una piedra.

Tzaddi They bound up my life in the dungeon, and cast a stone upon me.

54 L as aguas cubrieron mi cabeza, y dije: «¡Muerto soy!»

Tzaddi Waters flowed over my head; then I said, I am dead.

55 J ehová, tu nombre invoqué desde la cárcel profunda,

¶ Koph I called upon thy name, O LORD, out of the low dungeon.

56 y oíste mi voz. ¡No escondas tu oído del clamor de mis suspiros!,

Koph Thou hast heard my voice; do not hide thine ear at my cry that I might breath.

57 p ues te acercaste el día que te invoqué y dijiste: «No temas.»

Koph Thou drewest near in the day that I called upon thee; thou didst say, Fear not.

58 A bogaste, Señor, la causa de mi alma, redimiste mi vida.

Resh O Lord, thou hast pleaded the cause of my soul; thou hast redeemed my life.

59 J ehová, tú que has visto el agravio que me hacen, ¡defiende mi causa!

Resh O LORD, thou hast seen where I was wrong; plead thou my cause.

60 T ú has visto toda su venganza, todos sus pensamientos contra mí.

Resh Thou hast seen all their vengeance and all their imaginations against me.

61 H as oído, Jehová, sus ultrajes, todas sus maquinaciones contra mí,

Schin Thou hast heard their reproach, O LORD, and all their imaginations against me;

62 l os dichos de quienes contra mí se levantaron, y su designio contra mí todo el día.

Schin The words of those that rose up against me, and their design against me all the day.

63 S u sentarse y su levantarse mira, porque yo soy su canción.

Schin Behold their sitting down, and their rising up; I am their music.

64 ¡ Dales el pago, Jehová, que merece la obra de sus manos!

Tau Render unto them a recompense, O LORD, according to the work of their hands.

65 ¡ Entrégalos al endurecimiento de corazón y caiga tu maldición sobre ellos!

Tau Give them sorrow of heart; thy curse unto them.

66 ¡ Persíguelos, Jehová, en tu furor y quebrántalos debajo de los cielos!

Tau Persecute them in thy anger and cut them off from under the heavens, oh LORD.
