1 » Oye, Israel: tú vas hoy a pasar el Jordán, para entrar a desposeer a naciones más numerosas y más poderosas que tú, ciudades grandes y amuralladas hasta el cielo,

¶ Hear, O Israel: Thou art ready to pass over the Jordan this day to enter in to inherit that of Gentiles greater and mightier than thyself, cities great and fenced up to heaven,

2 u n pueblo grande y alto, los hijos de los anaceos, de los cuales tienes tú conocimiento, y de quienes has oído decir: “¿Quién se sostendrá delante de los hijos de Anac?”

A people, great and tall, sons of the Anakims, whom thou knowest and of whom thou hast heard say, Who can stand before the sons of Anak!

3 E ntiende, pues, hoy, que es Jehová, tu Dios, el que pasa delante de ti como fuego consumidor, quien los destruirá y humillará en tu presencia. Tú los echarás y los destruirás en seguida, como Jehová te ha dicho.

Understand, therefore, this day that the LORD thy God is he who passes before thee; as a consuming fire he shall destroy them and humble them before thee, and thou shalt drive them out and destroy them quickly, as the LORD has said unto thee.

4 » Cuando Jehová, tu Dios, los haya echado de delante de ti, no digas en tu corazón: “Por mi justicia me ha traído Jehová a poseer esta tierra”, pues por la impiedad de estas naciones Jehová las arroja de delante de ti.

Think not in thine heart, after the LORD thy God has cast them out from before thee, saying, Because of my righteousness the LORD has brought me in to inherit this land; rather for the wickedness of these Gentiles the LORD drives them out from before thee.

5 N o por tu justicia ni por la rectitud de tu corazón entras a poseer la tierra de ellos, sino por la impiedad de estas naciones Jehová, tu Dios, las arroja de delante de ti, y para confirmar la palabra que Jehová juró a tus padres Abraham, Isaac y Jacob.

Not for thy righteousness or for the uprightness of thine heart, dost thou enter in to inherit their land; but for the wickedness of these Gentiles, the LORD thy God drives them out from before thee and that he may confirm the word which the LORD swore unto thy fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

6 P or tanto, has de saber que Jehová, tu Dios, no te da en posesión esta buena tierra por tu justicia, porque pueblo terco eres tú. La rebelión de Israel en Horeb

Understand, therefore, that the LORD thy God does not give thee this good land to inherit because of thy righteousness, for thou art a stiffnecked people.

7 » Acuérdate, no olvides que has provocado la ira de Jehová, tu Dios, en el desierto; desde el día en que saliste de la tierra de Egipto, hasta que entrasteis en este lugar, habéis sido rebeldes a Jehová.

¶ Remember, and forget not, how thou hast provoked the LORD thy God to wrath in the wilderness; from the day that thou didst depart out of the land of Egypt until ye came unto this place, ye have been rebellious against the LORD.

8 E n Horeb provocasteis a ira a Jehová, y se enojó Jehová contra vosotros para destruiros.

Also in Horeb ye provoked the LORD to wrath, so that the LORD was angry with you to have destroyed you.

9 C uando yo subí al monte para recibir las tablas de piedra, las tablas del pacto que Jehová hizo con vosotros, estuve entonces en el monte cuarenta días y cuarenta noches, sin comer pan ni beber agua.

When I climbed up into the mount to receive the tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant which the LORD made with you, then I abode in the mount forty days and forty nights, without eating bread or drinking water;

10 J ehová me dio las dos tablas de piedra escritas por el dedo de Dios, y en ellas estaban escritas todas las palabras que os habló Jehová en el monte, de en medio del fuego, el día de la asamblea.

and the LORD delivered unto me two tables of stone written with the finger of God, and on them was written according to all the words which the LORD spoke with you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly.

11 A l cabo de los cuarenta días y cuarenta noches, Jehová me dio las dos tablas de piedra, las tablas del pacto,

And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights that the LORD gave me the two tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant.

12 y me dijo: “Levántate, desciende pronto de aquí, porque el pueblo que sacaste de Egipto se ha corrompido. Bien pronto se han apartado del camino que yo les mandé y se han hecho una imagen de fundición.”

And the LORD said unto me, Arise, go down quickly from here, for thy people which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt have corrupted themselves; they are quickly turned aside out of the way which I commanded them; they have made themselves a molten image.

13 » También me dijo Jehová: “He observado a este pueblo y he visto que es un pueblo terco.

Furthermore, the LORD spoke unto me, saying, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people.

14 D éjame que los destruya y borre su nombre de debajo del cielo, y yo te pondré sobre una nación fuerte y mucho más numerosa que ellos.”

Let me alone that I may destroy them and blot out their name from under heaven; and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they.

15 » Yo me volví y descendí del monte, el cual ardía en llamas, con las tablas del pacto en mis dos manos.

So I turned and came down from the mount with the two tables of the covenant in my two hands and the mount burned with fire,

16 M iré y vi que habíais pecado contra Jehová, vuestro Dios: os habíais hecho un becerro de fundición, apartándoos bien pronto del camino que Jehová os había señalado.

and I looked, and, behold, ye had sinned against the LORD your God and had made yourselves a molten calf; ye had turned aside quickly out of the way which the LORD had commanded you.

17 E ntonces tomé las dos tablas, las arrojé de mis dos manos y las quebré delante de vuestros ojos.

Then I took the two tables and cast them out of my two hands and broke them before your eyes.

18 L uego me postré delante de Jehová, y como antes hice, durante cuarenta días y cuarenta noches no comí pan ni bebí agua, a causa de todo el pecado que habíais cometido haciendo el mal ante los ojos de Jehová para enojarlo.

And I fell down before the LORD, as at the first, forty days and forty nights; I neither ate bread nor drank water because of all your sins in which ye sinned in doing wickedly in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.

19 P orque temí a causa del furor y de la ira con que Jehová estaba enojado contra vosotros hasta querer destruiros. Pero Jehová me escuchó una vez más.

For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure with which the LORD was wroth against you to destroy you. But the LORD hearkened unto me at that time also.

20 C ontra Aarón también se enojó mucho Jehová hasta querer destruirlo. Yo también oré por Aarón en aquel entonces.

And the LORD was very angry with Aaron to have destroyed him, and I prayed for Aaron also the same time.

21 L uego tomé el objeto de vuestro pecado, el becerro que habíais hecho, lo quemé en el fuego y lo desmenucé, moliéndolo muy bien, hasta que quedó reducido a polvo, y eché aquel polvo en el arroyo que descendía del monte.

And I took your sin, the calf which ye had made, and burnt it with fire and stamped it and ground it very small even until it was as small as dust, and I cast the dust thereof into the brook that descended out of the mount.

22 » También en Tabera, en Masah y en Kibrot-hataava provocasteis a ira a Jehová.

Also at Taberah and at Massah and at Kibrothhattaavah, ye provoked the LORD to wrath.

23 Y cuando desde Cades-barnea Jehová os mandó: “Subid y poseed la tierra que yo os he dado”, también fuisteis rebeldes al mandato de Jehová, vuestro Dios, y no le creísteis ni obedecisteis a su voz.

Likewise when the LORD sent you from Kadeshbarnea, saying, Go up and inherit the land which I have given you; then ye rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God, and ye did not believe him nor hearken to his voice.

24 R ebeldes habéis sido a Jehová desde el día en que yo os conozco.

Ye have been rebels against the LORD from the day that I knew you.

25 » Me postré, pues, delante de Jehová; cuarenta días y cuarenta noches estuve postrado, porque Jehová dijo que os había de destruir.

Thus I fell down before the LORD forty days and forty nights, as I fell down at the first, because the LORD had said he would destroy you.

26 Y oré a Jehová diciendo: Señor Jehová, no destruyas a tu pueblo, a la heredad que has redimido con tu grandeza y que sacaste de Egipto con mano poderosa.

I prayed, therefore, unto the LORD and said, O Lord GOD, destroy not thy people and thine inheritance, which thou hast ransomed through thy greatness, which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand.

27 A cuérdate de tus siervos Abraham, Isaac y Jacob; no mires la dureza de este pueblo, su impiedad ni su pecado,

Remember thy slaves, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; look not unto the stubbornness of this people nor to their wickedness nor to their sin,

28 n o sea que digan los de la tierra de donde nos sacaste: “Por cuanto no pudo Jehová introducirlos en la tierra que les había prometido, o porque los aborrecía, los sacó para matarlos en el desierto.”

lest those of the land from which thou didst bring us out say, Because the LORD was not able to bring them into the land which he promised them or because he hated them, he has brought them out to slay them in the wilderness.

29 E llos son tu pueblo, la heredad que sacaste con tu gran poder y con tu brazo extendido.

Yet they are thy people and thine inheritance, which thou didst bring out by thy mighty power and by thy outstretched arm.
