1 E ntonces clamó en mis oídos con gran voz, diciendo: «¡Los verdugos de la ciudad han llegado y cada uno trae en su mano su instrumento para destruir!»

¶ And he cried in my ears with a loud voice, saying, The visitors of the city have come, even each one with his destroying weapon in his hand.

2 Y seis hombres venían del camino de la puerta de arriba que mira hacia el norte y cada uno traía en su mano su instrumento para destruir. Entre ellos había un varón vestido de lino, el cual traía a su cintura un tintero de escribano. Al entrar, se detuvieron junto al altar de bronce.

And, behold, six men came from the way of the higher gate, which lies toward the north, and each man had a slaughter weapon in his hand; and one man among them was clothed with linen with a writer’s inkhorn by his side; and they went in and stood beside the brazen altar.

3 L a gloria del Dios de Israel se elevó de encima del querubín, sobre el cual había estado, hacia el umbral de la casa. Y llamó Jehová al hombre vestido de lino que tenía a su cintura el tintero de escribano,

And the glory of the God of Israel went up from over the cherubim, upon which he had been, to the threshold of the house. And he called to the man clothed with linen, who had the writer’s inkhorn by his side;

4 y le dijo Jehová: «Pasa por en medio de la ciudad, por en medio de Jerusalén, y ponles una señal en la frente a los hombres que gimen y claman a causa de todas las abominaciones que se hacen en medio de ella.»

and the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry out because of all the abominations that are done in the midst of her.

5 A los otros dijo, oyéndolo yo: «Pasad por la ciudad en pos de él, y matad; no miren con piedad vuestros ojos, no tengáis compasión.

¶ And to the others he said in my hearing, Go after him through the city and smite; do not let your eye forgive, neither have mercy.

6 M atad a viejos, a jóvenes y a vírgenes, a niños y a mujeres, hasta que no quede ninguno. Pero a todo aquel sobre el cual esté la señal, no os acercaréis; y comenzaréis por mi santuario.» Comenzaron, pues, desde los hombres ancianos que estaban delante del Templo.

Slay the old, the young men, and the virgins, the children and the women, but do not come near anyone upon whom is the mark; and ye must begin from my sanctuary. Then they began with the men, the elders, which were in front of the temple.

7 L es dijo: «Contaminad la casa, llenad los atrios de muertos y salid.» Y salieron a matar en la ciudad.

And he said unto them, Defile the house and fill the courts with the slain; go forth. And they went forth and slew in the city.

8 A conteció que cuando ellos iban matando y quedé yo solo, me postré sobre mi rostro, y clamé diciendo: «¡Ah, Señor Jehová!, ¿destruirás a todo el resto de Israel derramando tu furor sobre Jerusalén?»

And it came to pass, after they had slain them, I was left, and I fell upon my face and cried out and said, Ah Lord GOD! wilt thou destroy all the remnant of Israel in thy pouring out of thy fury upon Jerusalem?

9 M e dijo: «La maldad de la casa de Israel y de Judá es sobremanera grande, pues la tierra está llena de sangre y la ciudad está llena de perversidad; porque han dicho: “Ha abandonado Jehová la tierra, y Jehová no ve.”

Then said he unto me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceeding great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perverseness, for they have said, The LORD has forsaken the earth, and the LORD does not see.

10 A sí, pues, haré yo: mis ojos no mirarán con piedad, no tendré compasión; haré recaer la conducta de ellos sobre sus propias cabezas.»

And as for me also, my eye shall not forgive, neither will I have mercy, but I will recompense their way upon their head.

11 Y el hombre vestido de lino, que tenía el tintero a su cintura, respondió una palabra, diciendo: «He hecho conforme a todo lo que me mandaste.»

And, behold, the man clothed with linen, who had the inkhorn by his side, reported the matter, saying, I have done according to all thou hast commanded me.
