1 A bram tenía noventa y nueve años de edad cuando se le apareció Jehová y le dijo: —Yo soy el Dios Todopoderoso. Anda delante de mí y sé perfecto.

¶ And when Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me and be thou perfect.

2 Y o haré un pacto contigo y te multiplicaré en gran manera.

And I will make my covenant between me and thee and will multiply thee exceedingly.

3 E ntonces Abram se postró sobre su rostro, y Dios habló con él, diciendo:

And Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying,

4 — Éste es mi pacto contigo: serás padre de muchedumbre de gentes.

¶ Behold my covenant with thee: Thou shalt be a father of many Gentiles.

5 N o te llamarás más Abram, sino que tu nombre será Abraham, porque te he puesto por padre de muchedumbre de gentes.

Neither shall thy name any longer be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many Gentiles have I made thee.

6 T e multiplicaré en gran manera, y de ti saldrán naciones y reyes.

And I will multiply thee exceeding, and I will make Gentiles of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.

7 E stableceré un pacto contigo y con tu descendencia después de ti, de generación en generación: un pacto perpetuo, para ser tu Dios y el de tu descendencia después de ti.

¶ And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee and to thy seed after thee.

8 T e daré a ti y a tu descendencia después de ti la tierra en que habitas, toda la tierra de Canaán, en heredad perpetua; y seré el Dios de ellos.

And I will give unto thee and to thy seed after thee, the land in which thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting inheritance; and I will be their God.

9 D ijo de nuevo Dios a Abraham: —En cuanto a ti, guardarás mi pacto, tú y tu descendencia después de ti de generación en generación.

And God said again unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou and thy seed after thee in their generations.

10 É ste es mi pacto, que guardaréis entre mí y vosotros y tu descendencia después de ti: Todo varón de entre vosotros será circuncidado.

This shall be my covenant, which ye shall keep between me and you and thy seed after thee: Every male among you shall be circumcised.

11 C ircuncidaréis la carne de vuestro prepucio, y será por señal del pacto entre mí y vosotros.

And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin, and it shall be a token of the covenant between me and you.

12 A los ocho días de edad será circuncidado todo varón entre vosotros, de generación en generación, tanto el nacido en casa como el comprado por dinero a cualquier extranjero que no sea de tu linaje.

And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every male in your generations, he that is born in the house or bought with money of any stranger, who is not of thy seed.

13 D ebe ser circuncidado el nacido en tu casa y el comprado por tu dinero, de modo que mi pacto esté en vuestra carne por pacto perpetuo.

He that is born in thy house and he that is bought with thy money must needs be circumcised; and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.

14 E l incircunciso, aquel a quien no se le haya cortado la carne del prepucio, será eliminado de su pueblo por haber violado mi pacto.

And the uncircumcised male whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that person shall be cut off from his people; he has annulled my covenant.

15 D ijo también Dios a Abraham: —A Sarai, tu mujer, no la llamarás Sarai, sino que su nombre será Sara.

¶ And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be.

16 Y o la bendeciré, y también te daré un hijo de ella. Sí, la bendeciré y vendrá a ser madre de naciones; reyes de pueblos nacerán de ella.

And I will bless her and give thee a son also of her; yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of Gentiles; kings of peoples shall be of her.

17 E ntonces Abraham se postró sobre su rostro, y se rió y dijo en su corazón: «¿A un hombre de cien años habrá de nacerle un hijo? ¿Y Sara, ya de noventa años, habrá de concebir?»

Then Abraham fell upon his face and laughed and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him who is one hundred years old? and shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear?

18 Y dijo Abraham a Dios: —Ojalá viva Ismael delante de ti.

And Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael might live before thee!

19 R espondió Dios: —Ciertamente Sara, tu mujer, te dará a luz un hijo y le pondrás por nombre Isaac. Confirmaré mi pacto con él como pacto perpetuo para sus descendientes después de él.

And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed, and thou shalt call his name Isaac (laughter); and I will confirm my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant and with his seed after him.

20 Y en cuanto a Ismael, también te he oído. Lo bendeciré, lo haré fructificar y multiplicar mucho en gran manera, engendrará doce príncipes y haré de él una gran nación.

And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I shall bless him and will make him fruitful and will multiply him exceedingly; he shall beget twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation.

21 P ero yo estableceré mi pacto con Isaac, el que Sara te dará a luz el año que viene por este tiempo.

But I will establish my covenant with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year.

22 A cabó Dios de hablar con Abraham, y se alejó de él.

And he left off talking with him, and God went up from Abraham.

23 E ntonces tomó Abraham a su hijo Ismael, a todos los siervos nacidos en su casa y a todos los comprados por su dinero, a todo varón de la casa de Abraham, y circuncidó la carne del prepucio de ellos en aquel mismo día, como Dios le había dicho.

¶ Then Abraham took Ishmael his son and all the servants born in his house and all that were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham’s house, and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin in that same day as God had said unto him.

24 T enía Abraham noventa y nueve años de edad cuando circuncidó la carne de su prepucio.

And Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.

25 E Ismael, su hijo, tenía trece años cuando fue circuncidada la carne de su prepucio.

And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.

26 E n el mismo día fueron circuncidados Abraham y su hijo Ismael;

In that same day Abraham was circumcised and Ishmael his son.

27 t odos los varones de su casa, tanto el siervo nacido en casa como el comprado del extranjero por dinero, fueron circuncidados con él.

And all the men of his house, born in the house and bought with money from strangers, were circumcised with him.
