1 V inieron a mí algunos de los ancianos de Israel y se sentaron delante de mí.

¶ Then certain of the elders of Israel came unto me and sat before me.

2 Y vino a mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo:

And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

3 « Hijo de hombre, estos hombres han puesto sus ídolos en su corazón y han establecido el tropiezo de su maldad delante de su rostro. ¿Acaso he de ser yo en modo alguno consultado por ellos?

Son of man, these men have caused their uncleanness to come up over their heart and have established the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be enquired of at all by them?

4 H áblales, por tanto, y diles: “Así ha dicho Jehová, el Señor: Cualquier hombre de la casa de Israel que haya puesto sus ídolos en su corazón y que haya establecido el tropiezo de su maldad delante de su rostro, y que acuda al profeta, yo, Jehová, responderé al que acuda conforme a la multitud de sus ídolos,

Therefore speak unto them and say unto them, Thus hath the Lord GOD said: Every man of the house of Israel that sets up his idols in his heart and has established the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face and comes to the prophet, I, the LORD, will answer him that comes like this in the multitude of his idols

5 p ara tomar a la casa de Israel por el corazón, ya que se han apartado de mí todos ellos a causa de sus ídolos.”

that I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols.

6 » Por tanto, di a la casa de Israel: “Así dice Jehová, el Señor: Convertíos, volveos de vuestros ídolos y apartad vuestro rostro de todas vuestras abominaciones.

Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus hath the Lord GOD said: Repent and cause them to repent from your idols and turn away your faces from all your abominations.

7 P orque cualquier hombre de la casa de Israel y de los extranjeros que habitan en Israel, que se haya apartado de andar en pos de mí, y que haya puesto sus ídolos en su corazón y haya establecido delante de su rostro el tropiezo de su maldad, y que acuda al profeta para preguntarle por mí, yo, Jehová, le responderé por mí mismo;

For any man of the house of Israel or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel who has separated himself from walking after me and has set up his idols in his heart and has established the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face and comes to the prophet to enquire of him concerning me, I, the LORD, will answer him by myself:

8 p ondré mi rostro contra aquel hombre, lo pondré por señal y por escarmiento, y lo eliminaré de en medio de mi pueblo. Y sabréis que yo soy Jehová.

and I will set my face against that man and will set him up for a sign and for sayings, and I will cut him off from among my people; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

9 Y cuando el profeta sea engañado y hable alguna palabra, yo, Jehová, engañé a tal profeta. Extenderé mi mano contra él y lo eliminaré de en medio de mi pueblo Israel.

And the prophet when he is deceived and speaks a word, I the LORD have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him and will destroy him from among my people Israel.

10 Y llevarán ambos el castigo de su maldad: como la maldad del que consulte, así será la maldad del profeta,

And they shall bear the punishment of their iniquity; the iniquity of the prophet shall be even as the iniquity of him that seeks unto him

11 p ara que la casa de Israel no se desvíe más de en pos de mí, ni se contamine más en todas sus rebeliones; y sea mi pueblo y yo sea su Dios, dice Jehová, el Señor.”» Justicia del castigo de Jerusalén

that the house of Israel may no longer go astray from me, neither be polluted any longer in all their rebellions but that they may be my people, and I may be their God, said the Lord GOD.

12 V ino a mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo:

¶ The word of the LORD came again to me, saying:

13 « Hijo de hombre, cuando la tierra peque contra mí rebelándose pérfidamente, y extienda yo mi mano sobre ella, le corte el sustento de pan, envíe sobre ella hambre y extermine de ella a hombres y bestias,

Son of man, when the land sins against me by rebelling blatantly and I stretch out my hand upon her and break the staff of the bread thereof and send famine upon her and cut off man and beast out of her

14 s i estuvieran en medio de ella estos tres hombres: Noé, Daniel y Job, sólo ellos, por su justicia, librarían sus propias vidas, dice Jehová, el Señor.

though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in the midst of her, they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, said the Lord GOD.

15 Y si yo hiciera pasar bestias feroces por la tierra y la asolaran, y quedara desolada de modo que nadie pase por allí a causa de las fieras,

If I cause an evil beast to pass through the land and destroy her so that it be desolate that there be no one to pass through because of the beast

16 y si estos tres hombres estuvieran en medio de ella, vivo yo, dice Jehová, el Señor, que ni a sus hijos ni a sus hijas librarían; ellos solos serían librados, y la tierra quedaría desolada.

though these three men were in the midst of her, as I live, said the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither their sons nor their daughters; they only shall be delivered, and the land shall be destroyed.

17 O si yo trajera espada sobre la tierra, y dijera: “¡Espada, pasa por la tierra!”, e hiciera exterminar de ella a hombres y bestias,

Or if I bring a sword upon the land and say: Sword, go through the land; so that I cut off man and beast out of her;

18 y si estos tres hombres estuvieran en medio de ella, vivo yo, dice Jehová, el Señor, que no librarían a sus hijos ni a sus hijas. Ellos solos serían librados.

though these three men were in the midst of her, as I live, said the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither their sons nor their daughters, but they only shall be delivered themselves.

19 O si enviara pestilencia sobre esa tierra y derramara mi ira sobre ella con sangre, para exterminar de ella a hombres y a bestias,

Or if I send a pestilence into that land and pour out my fury upon her in blood to cut off out of her man and beast

20 y estuvieran en medio de ella Noé, Daniel y Job, vivo yo, dice Jehová, el Señor, que no librarían a hijo ni a hija. Solamente ellos, por su justicia, librarían sus propias vidas.

though Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in the midst of her, as I live, said the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither son nor daughter; they shall but deliver their own souls by their righteousness.

21 » Por lo cual, así ha dicho Jehová, el Señor: “¡Cuánto más cuando yo envíe contra Jerusalén mis cuatro juicios terribles: espada, hambre, fieras y peste, para exterminar de ellas a hombres y a bestias!

Therefore thus hath the Lord GOD said: How much more if I send my four sore judgments against Jerusalem: the sword, the famine, the evil beast, the pestilence, to cut off out of her man and beast?

22 S in embargo, he aquí quedará en ella un resto, hijos e hijas, que serán llevados fuera; he aquí que ellos vendrán a vosotros, veréis su camino y sus hechos y seréis consolados del mal que hice venir sobre Jerusalén, de todas las cosas que traje sobre ella.

Yet, behold, there shall be left a remnant in her, of whom shall be taken captive your sons and daughters; they shall be taken away: behold, they shall come forth unto you, and ye shall see their way and their doings; and ye shall be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, even concerning all that I have brought upon her.

23 E llos os consolarán cuando veáis su conducta y sus hechos, y comprenderéis que no sin causa hice todo lo que he hecho en ella, dice Jehová, el Señor.”»

And they shall comfort you when ye see their ways and their doings and ye shall know that I have not done without cause all that I have done in her, said the Lord GOD.
