1 П авло, волею Божою покликаний за апостола Ісуса Христа, і брат Состен,

¶ Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes, our brother,

2 Б ожій Церкві, що в Коринті, посвяченим у Христі Ісусі, покликаним святим, зо всіма, що на всякому місті прикликають Ім'я Господа нашого Ісуса Христа, їхнього і нашого,

unto the congregation of God which is at Corinth, to those that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be holy, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:

3 б лагодать вам і мир від Бога Отця нашого й Господа Ісуса Христа!

Grace be unto you and peace from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

4 Я завжди дякую моєму Богові за вас, через Божу благодать, що була вам дана в Христі Ісусі,

I thank my God always on your behalf for the grace of God which is given you in Christ Jesus,

5 б о ви всім збагатилися в Ньому, словом усяким і всяким знанням,

that in every thing ye are enriched in him in all word and in all knowledge,

6 б о свідоцтво Христове між вами утвердилось,

with which the testimony of the Christ was confirmed in you,

7 т ак що не маєте недостачі в жаднім дарі благодаті ви, що очікуєте з'явлення Господа нашого Ісуса Христа.

so that ye lack nothing in any gift, waiting for the manifestation of our Lord Jesus Christ,

8 В ін вас утвердить до кінця неповинними бути дня Господа нашого Ісуса Христа!

who shall also confirm that ye shall remain unimpeachable unto the end, in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9 В ірний Бог, що ви через Нього покликані до спільноти Сина Його Ісуса Христа, Господа нашого.

God is faithful, by whom ye were called into the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

10 Т ож благаю вас, браття, Ім'ям Господа нашого Ісуса Христа, щоб ви всі говорили те саме, і щоб не було поміж вами поділення, але щоб були ви поєднані в однім розумінні та в думці одній!

¶ Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing and that there be no divisions among you, but that ye be perfect, joined together in the same understanding and in the same perception.

11 Б о стало відомо мені про вас, мої браття, від Хлоїних, що між вами суперечки.

For it has been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by those of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.

12 А кажу я про те, що з вас кожен говорить: я ж Павлів, а я Аполлосів, а я Кифин, а я Христів.

In other words, that each one of you says, I am of Paul, and I of Apollos, and I of Cephas, and I of Christ.

13 Ч и ж Христос поділився? Чи ж Павло був розп'ятий за вас? Чи в Павлове ім'я ви христились?

Is the Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized into the name of Paul?

14 Д якую Богові, що я ані одного з вас не христив, окрім Кріспа та Гая,

¶ I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius,

15 щ об ніхто не сказав, ніби я охристив був у ймення своє.

lest any should say that ye were baptized into my name.

16 О христив же був я й дім Степанів; більш не знаю, чи христив кого іншого я.

And I baptized also the household of Stephanas; besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.

17 Б о Христос не послав мене, щоб христити, а звіщати Євангелію, і то не в мудрості слова, щоб безсилим не став хрест Христа.

¶ For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made void.

18 Б ож слово про хреста тим, що гинуть, то глупота, а для нас, що спасаємось, Сила Божа!

For the word of the cross is foolishness to those that perish, but unto us who are saved, it is the power of God.

19 Б о написано: Я погублю мудрість премудрих, а розум розумних відкину!

For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

20 Д е мудрий? Де книжник? Де дослідувач віку цього? Хіба Бог мудрість світу цього не змінив на глупоту?

Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the philosopher of this world? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

21 Ч ерез те ж, що світ мудрістю не зрозумів Бога в мудрості Божій, то Богові вгодно було спасти віруючих через дурість проповіді.

For in the wisdom of God, since the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save those that believe.

22 Б о й юдеї жадають ознак, і греки пошукують мудрости,

For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom,

23 а ми проповідуємо Христа розп'ятого, для юдеїв згіршення, а для греків безумство,

but we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock and unto the Gentiles foolishness;

24 а для самих покликаних юдеїв та греків Христа, Божу силу та Божую мудрість!

but unto those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

25 Б о Боже й немудре розумніше воно від людей, а Боже немічне сильніше воно від людей!

For that which is foolish of God is wiser than men, and that which is weak of God is stronger than men.

26 Д ивіться бо, браття, на ваших покликаних, що небагато-хто мудрі за тілом, небагато-хто сильні, небагато-хто шляхетні.

For look upon your vocation, brothers, that ye are not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble,

27 А ле Бог вибрав немудре світу, щоб засоромити мудрих, і немічне світу Бог вибрав, щоб засоромити сильне,

but rather God has chosen that which is the foolishness of the world to confound the wise, and God has chosen that which is the weakness of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty;

28 і простих світу, і погорджених, і незначних вибрав Бог, щоб значне знівечити,

and that which is vile of the world and that which is despised God has chosen, and things which are not, to bring to nought the things that are,

29 т ак щоб не хвалилося перед Богом жадне тіло.

that no flesh should glory in his presence.

30 А з Нього ви в Христі Ісусі, що став нам мудрістю від Бога, праведністю ж, і освяченням, і відкупленням,

But of him ye are reborn in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom and righteousness and sanctification and redemption,

31 щ об було, як написано: Хто хвалиться, нехай хвалиться Господом!

that, according as it is written, He that glories, let him glory in the Lord.
