1 Я к виходив ізраїль з Єгипту, від народу чужого дім Яковів,

¶ When Israel went out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange language,

2 Ю да став за святиню Йому, а ізраїль Його пануванням!

Judah was his holiness, and Israel his dominion.

3 П обачило море все це і побігло, Йордан повернувся назад!

The sea saw it and fled; Jordan was driven back.

4 Г ори скакали, немов баранці, а пагірки немов ті ягнята!

The mountains skipped like rams and the little hills like lambs.

5 Щ о тобі, море, що ти втікаєш? Йордане, що ти повернувся назад?

What came upon thee, O thou sea, that thou didst flee? And thou O Jordan, that thou wast driven back?

6 Ч ого скачете, гори, немов баранці, а пагірки мов ті ягнята?

Ye mountains, why didst ye skip like rams and ye little hills, like lambs?

7 Т ремти, земле, перед Господнім лицем, перед лицем Бога Якова,

At the presence of the Lord, the earth trembles, at the presence of the God of Jacob,

8 щ о скелю обертає в озеро водне, а кремінь на водне джерело!

who turned the rock into a reservoir of water, the flint into a fountain of waters.
