1 C ând a ieşit Israel din Egipt şi Casa lui Iacov – din poporul cu limbă încâlcită,

¶ When Israel went out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange language,

2 I uda a devenit Lăcaşul Lui cel sfânt şi Israel – tărâmul stăpânirii Lui.

Judah was his holiness, and Israel his dominion.

3 M area a văzut şi a fugit, Iordanul s-a dat înapoi,

The sea saw it and fled; Jordan was driven back.

4 m unţii au sărit ca nişte berbeci şi dealurile – ca nişte miei.

The mountains skipped like rams and the little hills like lambs.

5 C e ai, mare, de fugi? Iordane, de ce dai înapoi?

What came upon thee, O thou sea, that thou didst flee? And thou O Jordan, that thou wast driven back?

6 M unţilor, de ce săriţi ca nişte berbeci, şi voi, dealurilor, ca nişte miei?

Ye mountains, why didst ye skip like rams and ye little hills, like lambs?

7 C utremură-te, pământule, înaintea Stăpânului, înaintea Dumnezeului lui Iacov,

At the presence of the Lord, the earth trembles, at the presence of the God of Jacob,

8 C el Care transformă stânca în iaz şi cremenea – în izvoare de apă!

who turned the rock into a reservoir of water, the flint into a fountain of waters.
