1 D omnul i-a zis lui Moise

¶ And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,

2 s ă le poruncească israeliţilor: „Eu sunt Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru.

Speak unto the sons of Israel and say unto them, I AM your God.

3 S ă nu săvârşiţi faptele care se fac în ţara Egiptului, unde aţi locuit, şi să nu săvârşiţi faptele care se fac în Canaan, ţara unde vă duc. Să nu trăiţi după legile lor.

You shall not do as they do in the land of Egypt, in which ye dwelt; nor shall you do as they do in the land of Canaan, where I bring you; neither shall ye walk in their statutes.

4 S ă împliniţi poruncile Mele şi să păziţi legile Mele, urmându-le. Eu sunt Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru.

Ye shall comply with my rights and keep my statutes, walking in them. I AM your God.

5 S ă păziţi legile şi poruncile Mele; omul care le împlineşte va trăi prin ele. Eu sunt Domnul.

Therefore you shall keep my rights and my statutes, of which the man doing them, shall live in them. I am the LORD.

6 N imeni dintre voi să nu se apropie de ruda lui apropiată ca să-i descopere goliciunea. Eu sunt Domnul.

¶ No man shall approach any woman that is near of kin to him, to uncover her nakedness. I am the LORD.

7 S ă nu descoperi goliciunea tatălui tău, căci este goliciunea mamei tale; să nu-i descoperi goliciunea întrucât îţi este mamă.

The nakedness of thy father or the nakedness of thy mother, thou shalt not uncover; she is thy mother; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.

8 S ă nu descoperi goliciunea soţiei tatălui tău, căci este goliciunea tatălui tău.

The nakedness of thy father’s wife thou shalt not uncover; it is thy father’s nakedness.

9 S ă nu descoperi goliciunea surorii tale, fiica tatălui tău sau fiica mamei tale, indiferent dacă este născută în casa ta sau în afara casei tale.

The nakedness of thy sister, the daughter of thy father or daughter of thy mother, whether she is born at home or born abroad, their nakedness thou shalt not uncover.

10 S ă nu descoperi goliciunea fiicei fiului tău sau a fiicei fetei tale, căci goliciunea lor este goliciunea ta.

The nakedness of thy son’s daughter or of thy daughter’s daughter, their nakedness thou shalt not uncover; for theirs is thine own nakedness.

11 S ă nu descoperi goliciunea fiicei soţiei tatălui tău, născută tatălui tău, pentru că ea este sora ta.

The nakedness of thy father’s wife’s daughter, begotten of thy father, she is thy sister, thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.

12 S ă nu descoperi goliciunea surorii tatălui tău; ea este ruda tatălui tău.

Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father’s sister; she is thy father’s near kinswoman.

13 S ă nu descoperi goliciunea surorii mamei tale, pentru că ea este ruda mamei tale.

Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy mother’s sister; for she is thy mother’s near kinswoman.

14 S ă nu descoperi goliciunea fratelui tatălui tău, adică să nu te apropii de soţia lui; îţi este mătuşă.

Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father’s brother, thou shalt not approach to his wife; she is thine aunt.

15 S ă nu descoperi goliciunea nurorii tale; ea este soţia fiului tău; să nu-i descoperi goliciunea.

Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy daughter-in-law; she is thy son’s wife; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.

16 S ă nu descoperi goliciunea soţiei fratelui tău; este goliciunea fratelui tău.

Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy brother’s wife; it is thy brother’s nakedness.

17 S ă nu descoperi goliciunea unei femei şi a fiicei sale şi nici să nu iei pe fiica fiului ei sau pe fiica fetei sale ca să le descoperi goliciunea, căci ele îi sunt rudenii şi lucrul acesta este o nelegiuire.

Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter; neither shalt thou take her son’s daughter or her daughter’s daughter to uncover her nakedness; for they are her near kinswomen; it is wickedness.

18 S ă nu o iei pe sora soţiei tale ca să-i descoperi goliciunea. Dacă faci lucrul acesta cât timp soţia ta mai este încă în viaţă îi faci un mare necaz.

Neither shalt thou take a woman together with her sister, to make her a rival, to uncover her nakedness, beside the other in her lifetime.

19 S ă nu te apropii de o femeie ca să-i descoperi goliciunea în timpul necurăţiei ei.

¶ Also thou shalt not approach unto a woman to uncover her nakedness as long as she is separated for her uncleanness.

20 S ă nu te culci cu soţia semenului tău, pângărindu-te astfel cu ea.

Moreover thou shalt not lie carnally with thy neighbour’s wife, contaminating thyself with her.

21 S ă nu dai pe nici unul dintre fiii tăi să fie jertfiţi lui Moleh, profanând astfel Numele Dumnezeului tău. Eu sunt Domnul.

And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech; neither shalt thou contaminate the name of thy God: I am the LORD.

22 S ă nu te culci cu un bărbat aşa cum te culci cu o femeie; este o urâciune.

Thou shalt not lie with males as with women; it is abomination.

23 S ă nu te împreunezi cu un animal, spurcându-te cu el. Nici femeia să nu se apropie de un animal ca să se împreuneze cu el; este o perversitate.

Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith; neither shall any woman stand before a beast to join herself with it; it is mixture.

24 S ă nu vă spurcaţi în nici unul din aceste feluri, căci prin toate aceste fapte s-au spurcat neamurile pe care le voi izgoni dinaintea voastră.

Do not defile yourselves in any of these things; for in all these things the Gentiles which I cast out before you have defiled themselves;

25 Ţ ara a fost pângărită prin ele; de aceea Eu o voi pedepsi pentru nelegiuirea ei, astfel încât ţara îi va vărsa pe locuitorii ei.

and the land became defiled; therefore, I visited its iniquity upon it, and the land itself vomited out her inhabitants.

26 V oi însă să păziţi poruncile şi legile Mele; nici băştinaşul şi nici străinul care locuieşte printre voi să nu săvârşească aceste urâciuni,

Ye shall, therefore, keep my statutes and my rights and shall not commit any of these abominations, neither the natural of your own nor any stranger that sojourns among you.

27 c ăci toate aceste urâciuni le-au făcut locuitorii acestei ţări, care au fost înainte de voi în ea şi ţara a fost astfel pângărită.

(For all these abominations were done by the men of the land who were before you, and the land was contaminated.)

28 D acă şi voi veţi pângări ţara, ea vă va vărsa aşa cum le-a vărsat şi pe neamurile care au fost înaintea voastră.

And will the land not vomit you out also for having contaminated it, as it vomited out the Gentiles that were before you?

29 C ăci oricine va face aceste urâciuni va fi nimicit din mijlocul poporului său.

For whoever shall commit any of these abominations, the persons that commit them shall be cut off from among his people.

30 D e aceea păziţi poruncile Mele şi nu urmaţi nici unul din aceste obiceiuri îngrozitoare, care au fost practicate înaintea voastră, ca să nu vă spurcaţi cu ele. Eu sunt Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru.“

Keep, therefore, my ordinance that ye commit not any one of these abominable laws which were committed before you, and do not defile yourselves in them; I am the LORD your God.
