1 „ Aşa vorbeşte Domnul: «Coboară-te la palatul regelui lui Iuda şi vesteşte acolo cuvintele următoare:

¶ Thus hath the LORD said: Go down to the house of the king of Judah and speak there this word,

2 ‘ Ascultă Cuvântul Domnului, rege al lui Iuda, care stai pe tronul lui David, tu, slujitorii tăi şi poporul care intră pe aceste porţi.

and say, Hear the word of the LORD, O king of Judah, that doth sit upon the throne of David, thou, and thy slaves and thy people that enter in by these gates:

3 A şa vorbeşte Domnul: ‘Faceţi dreptate şi judecată! Eliberaţi-l pe cel cel ce a fost jecmănit din mâinile asupritorului! Nu chinuiţi pe străin, pe orfan sau pe văduvă! Nu vărsaţi sânge nevinovat în locul acesta!

Thus hath the LORD said: Execute judgment and righteousness and deliver the oppressed out of the hand of the oppressor and do not deceive, neither steal from the stranger nor from the fatherless nor from the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place.

4 C ăci dacă veţi împlini poruncile acestea, atunci pe porţile acestui palat vor intra regi care stau pe tronul lui David, suiţi în care şi călare pe cai, atât ei, cât şi slujitorii şi poporul lor.

For if ye effectively obey this word, then shall there enter in by the gates of this house the kings seated by David upon his throne, riding in chariots and on horses, he and his slaves and his people.

5 D ar dacă nu veţi asculta de poruncile acestea, jur pe Mine Însumi, zice Domnul, că acest palat va ajunge o ruină.’»

But if ye will not hear these words, I swear by myself, said the LORD, that this house shall become a desolation.

6 C ăci aşa vorbeşte Domnul cu privire la palatul regelui lui Iuda: «Deşi eşti pentru Mine ca Ghiladul, ca piscul Libanului, te voi face asemenea unui pustiu, asemenea unei cetăţi fără locuitori!

For thus hath the LORD said regarding the house of the king of Judah: Thou art Gilead unto me and the head of Lebanon: yet surely I will make thee a wilderness and cities which are not inhabited.

7 V oi trimite împotriva ta nişte nimicitori, fiecare cu armele lui. Ei îţi vor tăia cei mai frumoşi cedri şi-i vor arunca în foc.

And I will appoint destroyers against thee, each one with his weapons, and they shall cut down thy choice cedars and cast them into the fire.

8 M ulte neamuri vor trece pe lângă cetatea aceasta şi se vor întreba unul pe altul: ‘De ce a făcut Domnul astfel acestei mari cetăţi?’

And many Gentiles shall pass by this city, and each man shall say to his neighbour, Why has the LORD done thus unto this great city?

9 Ş i li se va răspunde: ‘Pentru că a părăsit legământul cu Domnul, Dumnezeul său, s-a închinat altor dumnezei şi le-a slujit.’»“

Then they shall answer, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD their God and worshipped other gods and served them.

10 „ Nu-l plângeţi pe cel mort şi nu-l jeliţi, ci plângeţi-l mai degrabă pe cel ce merge în captivitate, care nu se va mai întoarce şi nu-şi va mai vedea ţara natală. Mesaj către Iehoahaz

¶ Do not weep for the dead nor bemoan him, but weep sore for him that goes away, for he shall return no more nor see his native country.

11 C ăci aşa vorbeşte Domnul despre Şalum, fiul lui Iosia, regele lui Iuda, care a domnit în locul tatălui său Iosia şi care a plecat din locul acesta: «Nu se va mai întoarce niciodată,

For thus hath the LORD said of Shallum the son of Josiah king of Judah, who reigned instead of Josiah his father, He who went forth out of this place shall not return there any more;

12 c i va muri în locul în care l-au dus în captivitate şi nu va mai vedea ţara aceasta.»“

but he shall die in the place where they have led him captive and shall see this land no more.

13 „ Vai de cel care-şi zideşte palatul cu nedreptate şi odăile de sus cu nelegiuire, care-şi pune semenul să lucreze degeaba, fără să-i dea plata.

Woe unto him that builds his house and not in righteousness and his chambers and not in judgment, using his neighbour’s service without wages and not giving him the wages of his work!

14 E l îşi zice: «Îmi voi zidi un palat mare, care să aibă odăile de sus spaţioase!» Şi astfel el îi face ferestre largi, îl plachează cu cedru şi îl vopseşte în purpuriu.

That saith, I will build me a wide house and large chambers, and cuts out windows in it and covers it with cedar and anoints it with vermilion.

15 « Te face să fii rege faptul că aduni fără încetare cedru? Oare tatăl tău nu mânca şi nu bea şi el? Şi totuşi el făcea judecată şi dreptate, astfel încât toate îi mergeau bine.

Shalt thou reign, because thou dost enclose thyself in cedar? did not thy father eat and drink and do judgment and righteousness, and then it was well with him?

16 E l judeca pricina săracului şi a celui nevoiaş şi toate îi mergeau bine. Oare nu tocmai lucrul acesta înseamnă a Mă cunoaşte? zice Domnul.

He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well with him. Is this not to know me? said the LORD.

17 D ar tu nu ai ochi şi inimă decât pentru câştigul necinstit, pentru a vărsa sânge nevinovat, pentru a asupri şi a tâlhări.»“ Mesaj către Iehoiachim

But thine eyes and thine heart are not but for thy covetousness and for to shed innocent blood and for oppression and for violence, to do it.

18 „ De aceea, aşa vorbeşte Domnul despre Iehoiachim, fiul lui Iosia, regele lui Iuda: Nu-l vor jeli, zicând: «Vai, fratele meu! Vai, sora mea!» Nu-l vor jeli, zicând: «Vai, stăpâne! Vai, Maiestate!»,

Therefore thus hath the LORD said concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah; They shall not lament for him, saying, Ah my brother! and Ah sister! they shall not lament for him, saying, Ah lord! or, Ah his glory!

19 c i va fi înmormântat ca un măgar: va fi târât afară şi aruncat dincolo de porţile Ierusalimului.“

He shall be buried with the burial of an ass, drawn and cast forth beyond the gates of Jerusalem.

20 „ Suie-te pe Liban şi strigă! Înalţă-ţi glasul în Başan, strigă de pe Abarim, căci toţi iubiţii tăi sunt zdrobiţi.

¶ Go up to Lebanon and cry; and lift up thy voice in Bashan and cry unto all parts: for all thy lovers are destroyed.

21 Ţ i-am vorbit când îţi mergea bine, dar tu ai zis: «Nu voi asculta!» Aceasta ţi-a fost umblarea încă din tinereţe, căci nu ai ascultat de glasul Meu!

I spoke unto thee in thy prosperity, but thou didst say, I will not hear. This has been thy way from thy youth, that thou hast never heard my voice.

22 V ântul îi va împrăştia pe toţi păstorii tăi, iar iubiţii tăi vor merge în captivitate. Atunci vei fi dat de ruşine şi umilit din cauza întregii tale răutăţi.

The wind shall eat up all thy pastors, and thy lovers shall go into captivity; surely then shalt thou be ashamed and confound thyself because of all thy malice.

23 T u, care locuieşti în Liban, care îţi ai cuibul între cedri, o, cum vei mai geme când te vor ajunge durerile, dureri ca ale unei femei în chinurile naşterii! Mesaj către Iehoiachin

Thou didst inhabit Lebanon, thou didst make thy nest in the cedars. How shalt thou cry out when pangs come upon thee, the pain as of a woman in travail!

24 V iu sunt Eu, zice Domnul, căci, chiar dacă tu, Iehoiachin, fiul lui Iehoiachim, regele lui Iuda, ai fi un inel cu sigiliu în mâna Mea cea dreaptă, şi de acolo te-aş scoate!

As I live, saith the LORD, though Coniah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah were the signet upon my right hand, yet I would pluck thee from there;

25 T e voi da în mâinile celor ce caută să-ţi ia viaţa, în mâinile celor de care ţi-e frică, în mâinile lui Nebucadneţar, împăratul Babilonului, şi în mâinile caldeenilor.

and I will give thee into the hand of those that seek thy soul and into the hand of those whose face thou dost fear, even into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon and into the hand of the Chaldeans.

26 T e voi arunca împreună cu mama ta, care te-a născut, într-o altă ţară, unde nu v-aţi născut, şi acolo veţi muri.

And I will cast thee out and thy mother that bore thee into another country, where ye were not born, and there ye shall die.

27 N u vă veţi mai întoarce în ţara în care doriţi să vă întoarceţi.“

But to the land unto which they de sire to return, they shall not return there.

28 „ Este oare acest om, Iehoiachin, un vas dispreţuit şi sfărâmat, pe care nu-l mai doreşte nimeni? De ce sunt aruncaţi oare, el şi urmaşii lui, într-o ţară pe care n-o cunosc?

Is this man Coniah a despised broken idol? Is he a vessel in which there is no pleasure? Why are they cast out, he and his generation, and are cast into a land which they know not?

29 O , ţară, ţară, ţară, ascultă Cuvântul Domnului!

O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the LORD.

30 A şa vorbeşte Domnul: «Înscrieţi-l în sul pe omul acesta ca pe unul lipsit de copii, un om care nu va prospera de-a lungul vieţii lui, căci nici unul din urmaşii lui nu va prospera; nici unul nu va şedea pe tronul lui David şi nu va mai domni în Iuda.»“

Thus hath the LORD said, Write what shall be of this man deprived of a generation, a man unto whom nothing shall prosper in all the days of his life, for no man of his seed who sits upon the throne of David and rules over Judah shall prosper.
