1 „ Strângeţi-vă laolaltă, adunaţi-vă, neam fără ruşine,

¶ Search yourselves and one another, O unfriendly people;

2 p ână nu se împlineşte hotărârea, până nu trece timpul ca pleava, până nu vine peste tine mânia aprigă a Domnului şi până nu te ajunge ziua mâniei Domnului!

before the decree is executed, before the day passes as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD comes upon you, before the day of the LORD’s anger comes upon you.

3 C ăutaţi pe Domnul, toţi cei smeriţi din ţară, voi, care împliniţi poruncile Lui! Căutaţi dreptatea, căutaţi smerenia! Poate că aşa veţi fi cruţaţi în ziua mâniei Domnului! Judecată împotriva Filistiei

Seek ye the LORD, all ye humble of the earth, who have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek humility: it may be ye shall be kept in the day of the LORD’s anger.

4 G aza va fi părăsită, iar Aşchelonul va fi lăsat în ruină. Cei din Aşdod vor fi izgoniţi ziua-n amiaza mare, iar Ekronul va fi dezrădăcinat.

¶ For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation: they shall spoil Ashdod at the noon day, and Ekron shall be rooted up.

5 V ai de cei ce locuiesc pe malul mării, vai de neamul cheretiţilor! Canaanule, ţară a filistenilor, Cuvântul Domnului este împotriva ta!“ „Te voi distruge şi vei rămâne fără locuitori!“

Woe unto the inhabitants of the sea coast, the people of the Cherethites! the word of the LORD is against you; O Canaan, the land of the Palestinians, I will cause thee to be destroyed until there shall be no inhabitant left.

6 „ Malul mării va ajunge păşuni, izlazuri pentru păstori şi ţarcuri pentru oi.

And the sea coast shall be for dwellings and cottages for pastors, and sheepfolds.

7 M alul acesta va fi pentru rămăşiţa casei lui Iuda! Acolo vor găsi ei păşune. Seara se vor odihni în casele Aşchelonului, căci Domnul, Dumnezeul lor, le va purta de grijă şi le va aduce înapoi captivii.“ Judecată împotriva Moabului şi Amonului

And the coast shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah; they shall feed thereupon: in the houses of Ashkelon they shall sleep for the night; for the LORD their God shall visit them and return their captives.

8 „ Am auzit batjocurile Moabului şi insultele amoniţilor care Mi-au defăimat poporul şi s-au semeţit împotriva hotarelor lui!

¶ I have heard the reproaches of Moab, and the revilings of the sons of Ammon, by which they have dishonoured my people and magnified themselves over their border.

9 D e aceea, viu sunt Eu, zice Domnul Oştirilor, Dumnezeul lui Israel, că Moab va fi ca Sodoma, iar amoniţii ca Gomora, un loc plin cu buruieni şi cu gropi de sare, un pustiu pe vecie! Rămăşiţa poporului Meu îi va prăda şi supravieţuitorii neamului Meu îi vor stăpâni.“

Therefore as I live, said the LORD of the hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as Sodom and the sons of Ammon as Gomorrah, even a field of nettles and saltpits and a perpetual desolation; the remnant of my people shall spoil them, and the remnant of my Gentiles shall inherit them.

10 „ Aceasta le va fi plata pentru mândria lor, căci au fost batjocoritori şi s-au semeţit împotriva poporului Domnului Oştirilor.

This shall come upon them for their pride because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of the LORD of the hosts.

11 D omnul Se va arăta înfricoşător faţă de ei, căci El îi va nimici pe toţi zeii pământului! Înaintea Lui se vor închina, fiecare în locul ei, toate neamurile ostroavelor.“ Judecată împotriva cuşiţilor şi asirienilor

The LORD shall be terrible against them for he will weaken all the gods of the earth; and each one from his place shall worship him, even all the isles of the Gentiles.

12 „ Chiar şi voi, cuşiţilor, veţi fi străpunşi de sabia Mea!“

¶ Ye Ethiopians also, ye shall be slain by my sword.

13 „ Domnul Îşi va întinde mâna împotriva celor din nord şi va nimici Asiria. El va preface Ninive într-o ruină, într-un loc uscat, ca un deşert!

And he will stretch out his hand over the north wind and destroy Assyria and will make Nineveh a desolation and dry like a wilderness.

14 T urmele se vor odihni în mijlocul ei, precum şi tot felul de animale sălbatice; ciuşul şi bufniţa vor înnopta între capitelurile stâlpilor ei, iar ţipătul lor se va auzi prin ferestre. Molozul va fi în pragul porţilor ei, căci lucrările din cedru vor fi despuiate.

And flocks shall lie down in the midst of her, all the beasts of the Gentiles; both the cormorant and the bittern shall lodge in her thresholds; their voice shall sing in the windows; desolation shall be in the gates: for her cedar work shall be uncovered.

15 I ată dar cetatea cea veselă, care trăia fără grijă şi care îşi zicea în inima ei: «Doar eu şi nimeni altcineva!» Ce ruină s-a ales de ea! A ajuns un culcuş pentru fiarele sălbatice! Toţi cei ce trec pe lângă ea fluieră şi o arată cu mâna.

This is the rejoicing city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none beside me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! anyone that passes by her shall hiss and wag his hand.
