1 C umpăna înşelătoare este o urâciune înaintea Domnului, dar greutăţile corecte Îi sunt plăcute.

¶ A false balance is abomination to the LORD, but a just weight is his delight.

2 C ând vine mândria, vine şi ruşinea, dar înţelepciunea este cu cei smeriţi.

¶ When pride comes, then comes shame, but with the humble is wisdom.

3 I ntegritatea celor drepţi îi conduce, dar perfidia celor necredincioşi îi distruge.

¶ The perfection of the upright shall guide them in the way, but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.

4 B ogăţia nu este de nici un folos în ziua mâniei, dar dreptatea salvează de la moarte.

¶ Riches shall not profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness shall deliver from death.

5 D reptatea celui nevinovat îi netezeşte calea, dar cel rău este învins de însăşi răutatea lui.

¶ The righteousness of the perfect shall straighten his way, but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.

6 D reptatea celor cinstiţi îi salvează, dar cei răi sunt prinşi de dorinţele lor rele.

The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them, but transgressors shall be imprisoned in their own sin.

7 C ând moare cel rău, îi piere speranţa, iar nădejdea tăriei lor este nimicită.

¶ When the wicked man dies, his hope perishes, and the hope of unjust men shall perish.

8 C el drept este eliberat din necaz, dar cel rău îi ia locul.

¶ The righteous is delivered out of the tribulation, and the wicked takes his place.

9 C el lipsit de evlavie îşi distruge semenul cu gura, dar cei drepţi sunt izbăviţi prin cunoştinţă.

¶ The hypocrite with his mouth destroys his neighbour, but the just are delivered with wisdom.

10 C ând le merge bine celor drepţi, cetatea se bucură, iar când pier cei răi, se aud strigăte de veselie.

¶ When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices, and when the wicked perish, there are feasts.

11 O cetate este elogiată datorită binecuvântării celor drepţi, dar gura celor răi îi aduce ruinarea.

By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted, but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.

12 C el fără minte îşi dispreţuieşte semenul, dar omul care are pricepere îşi ţine gura.

¶ He that is void of understanding despises his neighbour, but the intelligent man remains silent.

13 C el ce umblă cu bârfe dezvăluie gânduri tainice, dar cel demn de încredere păstrează secretele.

A talebearer reveals secrets, but he that is of a faithful spirit conceals the matter.

14 P oporul piere din lipsă de îndrumare, dar numărul mare de sfetnici aduce victorie.

¶ When intelligence is lacking, the people shall fall, but in the multitude of counsellors there is salvation.

15 C ine girează pentru un străin va suferi, dar cine refuză să se ofere garant este în siguranţă.

¶ With anxiety shall he that is surety for a stranger be afflicted, and he that hates suretiship shall live securely.

16 O femeie plăcută câştigă respect, dar cei nemiloşi câştigă doar bogăţie.

¶ The gracious woman retains honour, and strong men retain riches.

17 O mul milostiv îşi face bine lui însuşi, dar cel nemilos îşi aduce asupra lui necazuri.

¶ The merciful man does good to his own soul, but the cruel man troubles his own flesh.

18 C el rău obţine un câştig înşelător, dar cel ce seamănă dreptatea primeşte o adevărată plată.

¶ The wicked works a deceitful work, but to him that sows righteousness shall be a sure reward.

19 A devărata dreptate conduce la viaţă, dar cel care urmăreşte răul merge spre propria lui moarte.

¶ As righteousness is unto life, so he that pursues evil pursues it unto his own death.

20 C ei cu inima înşelătoare sunt o urâciune înaintea Domnului dar cei integri în căile lor Îi sunt plăcuţi.

¶ They that are of a perverse heart are an abomination to the LORD, but such as are perfect in their way are his delight.

21 Î n mod sigur, cel rău nu va rămâne nepedepsit, dar cei ce sunt drepţi vor fi salvaţi.

¶ No matter how many covenants he has made with death, the wicked shall not be absolved, but the seed of the righteous shall escape.

22 C a un inel de aur în râtul unui porc, aşa este o femeie frumoasă, dar lipsită de discernământ.

¶ As a gold ring in a swine’s snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion.

23 D orinţa celor drepţi este numai spre bine, dar speranţa celor răi numai spre mânie.

¶ The desire of the righteous is only good, but the hope of the wicked is wrath.

24 U nul dă cu mână largă şi obţine mai mult, iar altul, care este zgârcit, sărăceşte.

¶ There are those who scatter, and more is added unto them; and there are those who withhold more than is just, but come to poverty.

25 S ufletul generos va fi săturat din belşug şi cel ce udă pe alţii va fi el însuşi udat.

¶ The soul who is a blessing unto others shall be made fat, and he that fills shall be filled also himself.

26 C ine păstrează grâul este blestemat de popor, dar cine-l vinde va fi încoronat cu binecuvântări.

¶ He that withholds the grain, the people shall curse him, but blessing shall be upon the head of him that sells it.

27 C ine caută binele găseşte bunăvoinţă, dar răul vine peste cel care-l caută.

¶ He that seeks good early shall find favour, but unto him that seeks evil, it shall come upon him.

28 C ine se încrede în bogăţiile lui va da greş, dar cei drepţi vor înmuguri ca frunzişul.

¶ He that trusts in his riches shall fall, but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.

29 C ine aduce necazuri asupra familiei lui va moşteni vânt, iar cel prost va fi slujitorul celui înţelept.

¶ He that troubles his own house shall inherit the wind, and the fool shall be slave to the wise of heart.

30 R odul celui drept este un pom de viaţă şi cel înţelept câştigă suflete.

¶ The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he that wins souls is wise.

31 D acă cel drept este pedepsit pe pământ, cu atât mai mult cel lipsit de evlavie şi păcătos.

¶ The righteous shall certainly be recompensed in the earth; how much more the wicked and the sinner!
