1 I sus a intrat în Ierihon şi trecea prin cetate.

¶ And Jesus, having entered, was passing through Jericho;

2 Ş i iată că un om numit Zacheu, care era şeful colectorilor de taxe şi era bogat,

and, behold, a man named Zacchaeus, who was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich.

3 c ăuta să vadă care este Isus, dar nu putea din cauza mulţimii, căci era mic de statură.

And he sought to see who Jesus was and could not for the crowd because he was small of stature.

4 A tunci el a alergat înainte şi s-a suit într-un sicomor ca să-L vadă, căci pe drumul acela urma să treacă.

And running ahead, he climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, for he was to pass that way.

5 C ând a ajuns Isus în locul acela, s-a uitat în sus şi i-a zis: – Zacheu, dă-te jos repede, pentru că astăzi trebuie să rămân în casa ta!

And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and saw him and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste and come down; for today I must abide at thy house.

6 Z acheu s-a dat repede jos din copac şi L-a primit cu bucurie.

And he made haste and came down and received him joyfully.

7 C ând au văzut acest lucru, toţi au început să murmure şi să zică: „A intrat să poposească la un om păcătos!“

And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.

8 D ar Zacheu a stat înaintea Domnului şi I-a zis: – Iată, Doamne, jumătate din posesiunile mele le dau celor săraci, iar dacă am înşelat pe cineva cu ceva îi dau înapoi de patru ori mai mult!

Then Zacchaeus stood and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.

9 I sus i-a zis: – Astăzi a intrat mântuirea în casa aceasta, deoarece şi el este un fiu al lui Avraam!

And Jesus said unto him, This day saving health is come to this house, inasmuch as he also is a son of Abraham.

10 C ăci Fiul Omului a venit să caute şi să mântuiască ce era pierdut. Pilda celor zece mine

For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

11 Î n timp ce ascultau aceste lucruri, El a continuat prin a le spune o pildă, pentru că era aproape de Ierusalim, iar ei credeau că Împărăţia lui Dumnezeu urma să se arate imediat.

¶ And as they heard these things, he added and spoke a parable because he was near to Jerusalem and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately be manifested.

12 A şadar le-a zis: „Un nobil a plecat într-o ţară îndepărtată ca să preia un regat şi apoi să se întoarcă.

He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.

13 I -a chemat pe zece dintre sclavii lui, le-a dat zece mine şi le-a zis: «Folosiţi-le în negoţ până când mă întorc eu!»

And having called ten of his slaves, he delivered them ten minas and said unto them, Trade until I come.

14 D ar cetăţenii lui îl urau şi au trimis în urma lui o delegaţie să spună: «Nu vrem ca acest om să fie rege peste noi!»

But his citizens hated him and sent an embassy after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.

15 L a întoarcerea sa, după ce a preluat regatul, a spus să fie chemaţi sclavii aceia, cărora le dăduse banii, ca să afle cât au câştigat.

And it came to pass that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these slaves to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much each one had gained by trading.

16 P rimul a venit zicând: – Stăpâne, mina ta a mai adus încă zece mine!

Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy mina has gained ten minas.

17 S tăpânul i-a zis: – Bine, sclav bun! Pentru că ai fost credincios în lucruri mici, primeşte autoritate peste zece cetăţi!

And he said unto him, Well done, thou good slave; because thou hast been faithful in a very little, thou shalt have authority over ten cities.

18 A venit al doilea şi a zis: – Mina ta, stăpâne, a mai adus cinci!

And the second came, saying, Lord, thy mina has made five minas.

19 S tăpânul i-a zis şi acestuia: – Primeşte şi tu autoritate peste cinci cetăţi!

And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities.

20 U n altul a venit şi a zis: – Stăpâne, iată-ţi mina! Am ţinut-o învelită într-un ştergar,

And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy mina, which I have kept laid up in a napkin,

21 c ăci m-am temut de tine, fiindcă eşti un om aspru, care iei ceea ce n-ai pus şi seceri ceea ce n-ai semănat!

for I feared thee because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that which thou didst not lay down and dost reap that which thou didst not sow.

22 S tăpânul i-a zis: – Sclav rău, te voi judeca după cuvintele tale! Ştiai că sunt un om aspru, care iau ceea ce n-am pus şi secer ceea ce n-am semănat?

Then he said unto him, Out of thine own mouth I will judge thee, thou wicked slave. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that which I did not lay down, and reaping that which I did not sow;

23 A tunci de ce n-ai pus banii la bancă, pentru ca, la întoarcere, să strâng cu dobândă?!

why then didst thou not give my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required my own with interest?

24 Ş i le-a zis celor care stăteau acolo: – Luaţi-i mina şi daţi-i-o celui ce are zece mine.

And he said unto those that stood by, Take from him the mina and give it to him that has the ten minas.

25 E i au zis: – Stăpâne, el are zece mine!

(And they said unto him, Lord, he has ten minas.)

26 V ă spun că oricui are, i se va da, dar de la cel ce n-are se va lua chiar şi ce are!

For I say unto you, That unto every one who has shall be given; and from him that has not, even that which he has shall be taken away from him.

27 C ât despre acei duşmani ai mei, care n-au vrut să domnesc eu peste ei, aduceţi-i aici şi omorâţi-i în faţa mea!“ Intrarea triumfală în Ierusalim

Moreover, those enemies of mine, who were unwilling that I should reign over them, bring them here and slay them before me.

28 D upă ce a spus aceste lucruri, a pornit în frunte, îndreptându-se spre Ierusalim.

¶ And when he had thus spoken, he went before, ascending up to Jerusalem.

29 C ând S-a apropiat de Betfaghe şi de Betania, lângă muntele numit „al Măslinilor“, i-a trimis pe doi dintre ucenici,

And it came to pass, when he was come nigh to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount called the mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,

30 s punându-le: „Duceţi-vă în satul dinaintea voastră şi, în timp ce intraţi în el, veţi găsi un măgăruş legat, pe care n-a încălecat nimeni niciodată. Dezlegaţi-l şi aduceţi-l!

saying, Go ye into the village over against you, in which at your entering ye shall find a colt tied, upon whom no one has ever sat; loose him, and bring him here.

31 D acă vă va întreba cineva: «De ce-l dezlegaţi?», să-i spuneţi: «Domnul are nevoie de el!»“

And if anyone asks you, Why do ye loose him? thus shall ye say unto him, Because the Lord has need of him.

32 C ei ce fuseseră trimişi s-au dus şi au găsit totul aşa cum le spusese Isus.

And those that were sent went and found even as he had said unto them.

33 Î n timp ce dezlegau măgăruşul, stăpânii acestuia i-au întrebat: – De ce dezlegaţi măgăruşul?

And as they were loosing the colt, its owners said unto them, Why loose ye the colt?

34 E i au răspuns: – Domnul are nevoie de el!

And they said, The Lord has need of him.

35 Ş i l-au adus la Isus. Apoi şi-au aruncat hainele peste măgăruş şi L-au aşezat pe Isus deasupra lui.

And they brought him to Jesus, and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus upon it.

36 Î n timp ce El mergea, oamenii îşi aşterneau hainele pe drum.

And as he went, they spread their garments in the way.

37 C ând S-a apropiat deja de povârnişul dinspre Muntele Măslinilor, toţi cei din mulţimea ucenicilor, plini de bucurie, au început să-L laude pe Dumnezeu cu glas tare pentru toate minunile pe care le văzuseră.

And when he was come near, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen,

38 E i ziceau: „Binecuvântat este Împăratul Care vine în Numele Domnului! Pace în cer şi slavă în locurile preaînalte!“

saying, Blessed be the King that comes in the name of the Lord; peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.

39 U nii dintre fariseii din mulţime I-au zis: – Învăţătorule, mustră-Ţi ucenicii!

And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.

40 E l a răspuns: – Vă spun că, dacă aceştia vor tăcea, pietrele vor striga!

And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that if these should be silent, the stones would immediately cry out.

41 C ând S-a apropiat de cetate şi a văzut-o, Isus a plâns pentru ea.

¶ And when he was come near, he beheld the city and wept over it,

42 E l a zis: „Dacă ai fi cunoscut şi tu în ziua aceasta lucrurile care-ţi puteau aduce pacea! Dar acum ele sunt ascunse de ochii tăi!

saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.

43 V or veni zile peste tine când duşmanii tăi vor ridica rampe de asalt împotriva ta, te vor înconjura şi te vor asedia din toate părţile!

For the days shall come upon thee that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee and compass thee round and constrain thee on every side

44 T e vor strivi de pământ pe tine şi pe copiii tăi din mijlocul tău şi nu vor lăsa în tine piatră pe piatră, pentru că n-ai cunoscut vremea cercetării tale!“ Isus alungă negustorii din Templu

and shall cast thee down to the ground and thy children within thee, and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

45 A intrat în Templu şi a început să-i scoată afară pe cei ce vindeau acolo,

And he went into the temple and began to cast out those selling and buying therein,

46 s punându-le: „Este scris: «Casa Mea va fi o casă de rugăciune», dar voi aţi făcut din ea o peşteră de tâlhari!“

saying unto them, It is written, My house is a house of prayer, but ye have made it a den of thieves.

47 I sus dădea în fiecare zi învăţătură în Templu. Conducătorii preoţilor, cărturarii şi fruntaşii poporului căutau să-L omoare,

And he taught daily in the temple. But the princes of the priests and the scribes and the principals of the people sought to kill him

48 d ar nu ştiau cum să facă, pentru că tot poporul se ţinea lipit de El, ascultându-L.

and could not find what they might do, for all the people were very attentive to hear him.
