1 M oise a zis căpeteniilor seminţiilor lui Israel: „Iată ce porunceşte Domnul:

¶ And Moses spoke unto the princes of the tribes concerning the sons of Israel, saying, This is the thing which the LORD has commanded.

2 « Când un om face o promisiune Domnului sau un jurământ, legându-se printr-o obligaţie, să nu-şi calce cuvântul, ci să împlinească tot ceea ce a spus.

When a man vows a vow unto the LORD or swears an oath to bind his soul with a bond, he shall not defile his word: he shall do according to all that proceeded out of his mouth.

3 C ând o femeie tânără, care încă mai locuieşte în casa tatălui ei, face o promisiune Domnului şi se leagă printr-o obligaţie,

¶ But the woman, when she shall vow a vow unto the LORD and bind herself by a bond, being in her father’s house in her youth,

4 i ar tatăl ei află de promisiunea şi de obligaţia ei şi nu-i spune nimic, atunci toate promisiunile şi obligaţiile prin care ea s-a legat vor rămâne valabile.

and her father hears her vow and her bond with which she has bound her soul, and her father shall remain silent regarding it, then all her promises shall stand, and every bond with which she has bound her soul shall stand.

5 D ar dacă tatăl ei îi interzice în ziua când află de promisiunea ei, atunci nici una din promisiunile sau obligaţiile prin care ea s-a legat nu mai sunt valabile. Domnul o va ierta, căci tatăl ei i-a interzis.

But if her father disallows her in the day that he hears all of her vows and of her bonds with which she has bound her soul, they shall not stand, and the LORD shall forgive her, because her father disallowed her.

6 D ar dacă ea se va mărita, după ce a făcut promisiunea sau buzele ei au legat-o într-o obligaţie,

But if she had at all a husband when she vowed or pronounced anything out of her lips, with which she bound her soul,

7 ş i soţul ei află despre acestea, dar nu-i spune nimic, atunci promisiunile şi obligaţiile prin care ea s-a legat vor rămâne valabile.

if her husband heard it and remained silent regarding it in the day that he heard it, then her vows shall stand, and her bonds with which she bound her soul shall stand.

8 D acă soţul ei însă îi interzice când aude de promisiunea ei, prin aceasta el desfiinţează promisiunea pe care ea a făcut-o sau obligaţia prin care s-a legat cu buzele ei, iar Domnul o va ierta.

But if her husband disallowed her on the day that he heard it, then her vow which she vowed and that which she pronounced with her lips, with which she bound her soul, shall be of no effect, and the LORD shall forgive her.

9 O rice promisiune sau obligaţie făcută de o femeie văduvă sau divorţată o va ţine legată.

But every vow of a widow and of her that is divorced, with which they have bound their souls, shall stand.

10 D acă o femeie, care locuieşte cu soţul ei, face promisiuni sau jurăminte, legându-se printr-o obligaţie,

And if she vowed in her husband’s house or bound her soul by a bond with an oath;

11 i ar soţul ei află de lucrul acesta, dar nu-i spune nimic şi nu-i interzice, atunci toate promisiunile pe care le-a făcut vor rămâne valabile şi toate obligaţiile prin care s-a legat vor rămâne valabile.

if her husband heard it and remained silent regarding it and did not disallow her, then all her vows shall stand, and every bond with which she bound her soul shall stand.

12 D ar dacă soţul ei le desfiinţează în ziua când aude despre ele, atunci nici una din promisiunile sau obligaţiile prin care buzele ei au legat-o nu va mai fi valabilă.

But if her husband has utterly made them void on the day he heard them, then whatever proceeded out of her lips concerning her vows or concerning the bond of her soul, shall not stand; her husband has made them void, and the LORD shall forgive her.

13 S oţul ei poate întări sau desfiinţa orice promisiune sau orice obligaţie prin care ea se leagă ca să-şi smerească sufletul.

Every vow and every binding oath to afflict the soul, her husband may establish it, or her husband may make it void.

14 D ar dacă soţul ei nu-i spune nimic despre acestea timp de mai multe zile după ce a aflat, atunci el confirmă că toate promisiunile şi obligaţiile ei rămân valabile; le confirmă pentru că nu i-a zis nimic în ziua când a auzit despre ele.

But if her husband remained silent regarding this from day to day; then he establishes all her vows or all her bonds, which are upon her; he confirms them because he remained silent regarding this in the day that he heard them.

15 D acă totuşi le va desfiinţa mai târziu, atunci el va fi responsabil pentru vina ei.»“

But if he shall in any way make them void after that he has heard them, then he shall bear her iniquity.

16 A cestea sunt poruncile pe care Domnul i le-a dat lui Moise cu privire la relaţiile dintre un soţ şi soţia lui şi dintre un tată şi fiica lui care, tânără fiind, încă mai locuieşte în casa tatălui ei.

These are the statutes which the LORD commanded Moses between a man and his wife and between the father and his daughter, being yet in her youth in her father’s house.
