1 P avel, Silvanus şi Timotei, către biserica tesalonicenilor, care este în Dumnezeu Tatăl şi în Domnul Isus Cristos: har şi pace vouă! Mulţumiri pentru credinţa tesalonicenilor

¶ Paul, and Silvanus, and Timothy, unto the congregation of the Thessalonians congregated in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace be unto you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Î ntotdeauna Îi mulţumim lui Dumnezeu pentru voi toţi şi vă pomenim mereu în rugăciunile noastre,

¶ We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers,

3 a mintindu-ne înaintea lui Dumnezeu, Tatăl nostru, de lucrarea credinţei voastre, de osteneala dragostei voastre şi de răbdarea voastră motivată de nădejdea în Domnul nostru Isus Cristos.

remembering without ceasing the work of your faith and labour and charity and of waiting with the hope of our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father,

4 N oi ştim, fraţi iubiţi de Dumnezeu, despre alegerea de care aţi avut parte.

being certain, beloved brethren, that you are chosen of God.

5 C ăci Evanghelia noastră n-a fost adusă la voi numai prin cuvinte, ci şi cu putere, cu Duh Sfânt şi cu o siguranţă deplină, aşa cum, de altfel, ştiţi ce fel de oameni am fost printre voi, de dragul vostru.

For our gospel did not come unto you in word only, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and in full assurance as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.

6 Ş i voi aţi devenit imitatori ai noştri şi ai Domnului când, deşi eraţi în mare necaz, aţi primit Cuvântul cu bucuria care vine de la Duhul Sfânt.

¶ And ye were made imitators of us and of the Lord, having received the word with much tribulation, with joy of the Holy Spirit:

7 A stfel, voi aţi devenit un exemplu pentru toţi credincioşii din Macedonia şi Ahaia.

So that ye have become examples to all that have believed in Macedonia and Achaia.

8 C ăci Cuvântul Domnului a răsunat nu doar în Macedonia şi Ahaia, ci credinţa voastră în Dumnezeu a ajuns să fie cunoscută peste tot, aşa că nu mai este nevoie să vorbim despre ea.

For through you the word of the Lord has been divulged not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith, which is in God, has become extended, so that we have no need to say anything.

9 E i înşişi vorbesc despre ce fel de primire am avut parte printre voi şi cum, de la idoli, v-aţi întors la Dumnezeu, pentru a-I sluji Dumnezeului celui Viu şi Adevărat

For they themselves tell of us what an entrance we had unto you and in what manner ye were converted to God from idols to serve the living and true God

10 ş i pentru a-L aştepta din ceruri pe Fiul Lui, pe Care L-a înviat din morţi, pe Isus, Care ne scapă de mânia ce vine.

and to wait for his Son from the heavens, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, who delivered us from the wrath to come.
