1 P aul, Silvanus, and Timothy, to the assembly of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
¶ Paul, and Silvanus, and Timothy, unto the congregation of the Thessalonians congregated in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace be unto you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
2 W e always give thanks to God for all of you, mentioning you in our prayers,
¶ We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers,
3 r emembering without ceasing your work of faith and labor of love and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, before our God and Father.
remembering without ceasing the work of your faith and labour and charity and of waiting with the hope of our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father,
4 W e know, brothers loved by God, that you are chosen,
being certain, beloved brethren, that you are chosen of God.
5 a nd that our Good News came to you not in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, and with much assurance. You know what kind of men we showed ourselves to be among you for your sake.
For our gospel did not come unto you in word only, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and in full assurance as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.
6 Y ou became imitators of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit,
¶ And ye were made imitators of us and of the Lord, having received the word with much tribulation, with joy of the Holy Spirit:
7 s o that you became an example to all who believe in Macedonia and in Achaia.
So that ye have become examples to all that have believed in Macedonia and Achaia.
8 F or from you the word of the Lord has been declared, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith toward God has gone out; so that we need not to say anything.
For through you the word of the Lord has been divulged not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith, which is in God, has become extended, so that we have no need to say anything.
9 F or they themselves report concerning us what kind of a reception we had from you; and how you turned to God from idols, to serve a living and true God,
For they themselves tell of us what an entrance we had unto you and in what manner ye were converted to God from idols to serve the living and true God
10 a nd to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who delivers us from the wrath to come.
and to wait for his Son from the heavens, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, who delivered us from the wrath to come.
