picture

1 G od remembered Noah, all the animals, and all the livestock that were with him in the ship; and God made a wind to pass over the earth. The waters subsided.

¶ And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the animals that were with him in the ark; and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters ceased;

2 T he deep’s fountains and the sky’s windows were also stopped, and the rain from the sky was restrained.

the fountains also of the deep and the windows of the heavens were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained;

3 T he waters continually receded from the earth. After the end of one hundred fifty days the waters decreased.

and the waters turned back and forth upon the earth, and after the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters were abated.

4 T he ship rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on Ararat’s mountains.

¶ And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.

5 T he waters receded continually until the tenth month. In the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains were visible.

And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month; in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains were seen.

6 A t the end of forty days, Noah opened the window of the ship which he had made,

¶ And it came to pass at the end of forty days that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made,

7 a nd he sent out a raven. It went back and forth, until the waters were dried up from the earth.

and he sent forth a raven, which went forth to and fro until the waters were dried up from off the earth.

8 H e himself sent out a dove to see if the waters were abated from the surface of the ground,

Also he sent forth a dove from him to see if the waters were abated from off the face of the ground,

9 b ut the dove found no place to rest her foot, and she returned to him into the ship, for the waters were on the surface of the whole earth. He put out his hand, and took her, and brought her to him into the ship.

but the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were still upon the face of the whole earth. Then he put forth his hand and took her and pulled her in unto him into the ark.

10 H e waited yet another seven days; and again he sent the dove out of the ship.

And he waited yet another seven days, and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark,

11 T he dove came back to him at evening and, behold, in her mouth was a freshly plucked olive leaf. So Noah knew that the waters were abated from the earth.

and the dove came in to him in the evening, and, behold, in her mouth was an olive leaf plucked off, so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth.

12 H e waited yet another seven days, and sent out the dove; and she didn’t return to him anymore.

And he stayed yet other seven days and sent forth the dove, which returned not again unto him any more.

13 I n the six hundred first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from the earth. Noah removed the covering of the ship, and looked. He saw that the surface of the ground was dried.

¶ And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year of Noah, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth, and Noah removed the covering of the ark and looked and, behold, the face of the ground was dry.

14 I n the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dry.

And in the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dried.

15 G od spoke to Noah, saying,

¶ And God spoke unto Noah, saying,

16 Go out of the ship, you, and your wife, and your sons, and your sons’ wives with you.

Go forth from the ark, thou and thy wife and thy sons, and thy sons’ wives with thee.

17 B ring out with you every living thing that is with you of all flesh, including birds, livestock, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, that they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply on the earth.”

Bring forth with thee every animal that is with thee, of all flesh, both of fowl and of beasts and of every creeping thing that moves upon the earth, that they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply upon the earth.

18 N oah went out, with his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives with him.

And Noah went forth and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him;

19 E very animal, every creeping thing, and every bird, whatever moves on the earth, after their families, went out of the ship.

all the animals, every creature and every fowl and whatever moves upon the earth after their kinds went forth out of the ark.

20 N oah built an altar to Yahweh, and took of every clean animal, and of every clean bird, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

¶ And Noah built an altar unto the LORD and took of every clean animal and of every clean fowl and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

21 Y ahweh smelled the pleasant aroma. Yahweh said in his heart, “I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake because the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth. I will never again strike every living thing, as I have done.

And the LORD smelled a savour of rest, and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake, for the intent of man’s heart is evil from his childhood; neither will I again smite any more every living thing as I have done.

22 W hile the earth remains, seed time and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night will not cease.”

While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
