picture

1 B ut God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and all the cattle that were with him in the large boat. Then God made a wind blow over the earth until the water went down.

¶ And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the animals that were with him in the ark; and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters ceased;

2 A lso the wells of water under the earth and the windows of the heavens were shut. And it stopped raining.

the fountains also of the deep and the windows of the heavens were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained;

3 T he water kept moving away from the earth. At the end of 150 days the water was less.

and the waters turned back and forth upon the earth, and after the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters were abated.

4 A nd in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, the large boat came to rest on Mount Ararat.

¶ And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.

5 T he water kept on going down until the tenth month. In the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains could be seen.

And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month; in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains were seen.

6 A t the end of forty days, Noah opened the window of the large boat which he had made.

¶ And it came to pass at the end of forty days that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made,

7 T hen he sent out a raven, and it flew here and there until the water was dried up from the earth.

and he sent forth a raven, which went forth to and fro until the waters were dried up from off the earth.

8 T hen he sent out a dove, to see if the water was gone from the ground.

Also he sent forth a dove from him to see if the waters were abated from off the face of the ground,

9 B ut the dove found no place to set her foot, so she returned to him in the boat. For the water was still over the earth. So Noah put out his hand and took her, and brought her into the boat with him.

but the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were still upon the face of the whole earth. Then he put forth his hand and took her and pulled her in unto him into the ark.

10 H e waited another seven days, and sent the dove from the boat again.

And he waited yet another seven days, and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark,

11 T he dove returned to him in the evening. In her mouth was an olive leaf that had just been picked. So Noah knew that the water had gone from the earth.

and the dove came in to him in the evening, and, behold, in her mouth was an olive leaf plucked off, so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth.

12 T hen he waited another seven days, and sent out the dove. But she did not return to him again.

And he stayed yet other seven days and sent forth the dove, which returned not again unto him any more.

13 I n the year 601, in the first month, on the first day of the month, the water was dried up from the earth. Then Noah took the covering off the large boat, and looked out and saw that the earth was dry.

¶ And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year of Noah, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth, and Noah removed the covering of the ark and looked and, behold, the face of the ground was dry.

14 I n the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the ground was dry.

And in the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dried.

15 T hen God said to Noah,

¶ And God spoke unto Noah, saying,

16 Go out of the boat, you and your wife and your sons and your sons’ wives with you.

Go forth from the ark, thou and thy wife and thy sons, and thy sons’ wives with thee.

17 B ring out with you every living thing of all flesh that is with you, birds and animals and everything that moves on the earth. So they may give birth and become many upon the earth.”

Bring forth with thee every animal that is with thee, of all flesh, both of fowl and of beasts and of every creeping thing that moves upon the earth, that they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply upon the earth.

18 S o Noah went out with his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives.

And Noah went forth and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him;

19 E very animal, every bird, everything that moves on the earth, went out of the large boat by their families.

all the animals, every creature and every fowl and whatever moves upon the earth after their kinds went forth out of the ark.

20 T hen Noah built an altar to the Lord. He took of every clean animal and every clean bird, and gave burnt gifts in worship on the altar.

¶ And Noah built an altar unto the LORD and took of every clean animal and of every clean fowl and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

21 T hen the Lord smelled a pleasing smell. And the Lord said to Himself, “I will never again curse the ground because of man. For the desire of man’s heart is sinful from when he is young. I will never again destroy every living thing as I have done.

And the LORD smelled a savour of rest, and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake, for the intent of man’s heart is evil from his childhood; neither will I again smite any more every living thing as I have done.

22 W hile the earth lasts, planting time and gathering time, cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night will not end.”

While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
