Isaiah 6 ~ Isaiah 6

picture

1 I n the year of King Uzziah’s death, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and honored. His long clothing spread out and filled the house of God.

¶ In the year that king Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.

2 S eraphim stood above Him, each having six wings. With two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew.

Above it stood the seraphims; each one had six wings; with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew.

3 O ne called out to another and said, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of All. The whole earth is full of His shining-greatness.”

And one cried out unto another and said, Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of the hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory.

4 A nd the base of the doorways shook at the voice of him who called out, while the house of God was filled with smoke.

And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried out, and the house was filled with smoke.

5 T hen I said, “It is bad for me, for I am destroyed! Because I am a man whose lips are unclean. And I live among a people whose lips are unclean. For my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of All.”

¶ Then I said, Woe is me! for I am dead because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of the hosts.

6 T hen one of the seraphim flew to me, with a burning coal which he had taken from the altar using a special tool.

Then one of the seraphim flew unto me, having a live coal in his hand which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:

7 H e touched my mouth with it, and said, “See, this has touched your lips, and your guilt is taken away. Your sin is forgiven.”

And he laid it upon my mouth and said, Behold, this has touched thy lips; and it shall take away thy guilt, and thy sin shall be cleansed.

8 T hen I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom should I send? Who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

After this, I heard the voice of the Lord saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then I answered, Here am I; send me.

9 H e said, “Go, and tell these people, ‘You hear and hear but do not understand. You look and look but do not see.’

¶ Then he said, Go and tell this people, Hear indeed, but do not understand; and see indeed, but do not perceive.

10 M ake the hearts of these people hard. May their ears hear little and their eyes see little. Or they will see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their hearts, and turn again and be healed.”

Make the heart of this people fat and make their ears heavy and blind their eyes that they not see with their eyes, nor hear with their ears, nor understand with their heart, nor convert and there be healing for him.

11 T hen I said, “Lord, how long?” And He answered, “Until cities are destroyed and empty, and until houses are without people and the land is laid waste.

And I said, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities are wasted without inhabitant and not a man in the houses, and the land is turned into desert,

12 U ntil the Lord has taken men far away, and there are many places with no people in the land.

until the LORD has removed men far away, and there is great solitude in the midst of the land.

13 Y et one tenth part of the people will stay in it. But it will be burned again, like an oak tree whose roots are still there when it is cut down. The holy seed is all that will be left (of Israel).”

But yet in it shall remain a tenth, and it shall return and shall be razed; as the teil tree and as the oak, of which the stump remains alive when they are cut down, likewise in these his stump shall remain holy seed.
