1 F ariseii şi saducheii au venit la El şi, ca să-L pună la încercare, I-au cerut să le arate un semn din cer.

¶ The Pharisees and the Sadducees came to tempt him; they asked him to show them a sign from the heaven.

2 D ar Isus le-a răspuns: („Când se înserează, voi spuneţi: «Va fi vreme bună, pentru că cerul este roşu învăpăiat!»

But he answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather, for the heaven is glowing with an aurora.

3 I ar dimineaţa, spuneţi: «Astăzi va fi furtună, pentru că cerul este roşu întunecat!» Înfăţişarea cerului ştiţi s-o deosebiţi, dar semnele vremurilor nu le puteţi deosebi ?)

And in the morning, It will be foul weather today, for the heaven has an aurora and is cloudy. O ye hypocrites, ye know how to make decisions based on the face of the heaven, and regarding the signs of the times are ye unable?

4 O generaţie rea şi adulteră caută un semn, dar nu i se va da un alt semn decât semnul lui Iona“. Apoi i-a lăsat şi a plecat. Drojdia fariseilor şi a saducheilor

A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and no sign shall be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah. And he left them and departed.

5 C ând ucenicii au ajuns de cealaltă parte a mării, ei uitaseră să ia pâini.

¶ And when his disciples were coming from the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.

6 I sus le-a zis: „Fiţi atenţi şi păziţi-vă de aluatul fariseilor şi al saducheilor!“

Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and keep yourselves from the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

7 E i au început să vorbească între ei şi să spună: „ Ne zice aşa, pentru că n-am luat pâini!“

And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.

8 Î nţelegând aceasta, Isus le-a zis: „Puţin credincioşilor! De ce vorbiţi între voi că n-aţi luat pâini?

Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves that ye have brought no bread?

9 T ot nu înţelegeţi? Nu vă mai aduceţi aminte de cele cinci pâini pentru cei cinci mii de oameni şi de câte coşniţe aţi strâns?

Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

10 N u vă mai aduceți aminte nici de cele şapte pâini pentru cei patru mii de bărbaţi şi de câte coşuri aţi strâns?

Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

11 C um de nu înţelegeţi că nu despre pâini v-am vorbit?! Ci v-am spus: păziţi-vă de drojdia fariseilor şi a saducheilor!“

How is it that ye do not understand that I did not speak to you concerning bread that ye should keep yourselves from the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?

12 A bia atunci au înţeles ucenicii că El nu le zisese să se ferească de drojdia pentru pâine, ci de învăţătura fariseilor şi a saducheilor. Mărturisirea de credinţă a lui Petru

Then they understood that he bade them not to keep themselves from the leaven of bread, but from the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

13 I sus a venit în părţile Cezareii lui Filip şi i-a întrebat pe ucenicii Săi: – Cine zic oamenii că este Fiul Omului?

¶ When Jesus came into the parts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Who do men say that I the Son of man am?

14 E i au răspuns: – Unii zic că este Ioan Botezătorul, alţii zic că este Ilie, iar alţii zic că este Ieremia sau unul dintre profeţi.

And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist; some, Elijah; and others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.

15 – Dar voi cine ziceţi că sunt Eu? i-a mai întrebat El.

He said unto them, But who say ye that I am?

16 S imon Petru a răspuns: – Tu eşti Cristosul, Fiul Dumnezeului celui Viu!

And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

17 I sus i-a zis: – Ferice de tine, Simone, fiul lui Iona, pentru că nu carnea şi sângele ţi-au descoperit lucrul acesta, ci Tatăl Meu, Care este în ceruri.

And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon son of Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed it unto thee, but my Father who is in the heavens.

18 I ar Eu îţi spun că tu eşti Petru şi pe această piatră Îmi voi zidi Biserica, iar porţile Locuinţei Morţilor n-o vor birui.

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, a small rock and upon the large rock I will build my congregation, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against her.

19 Î ţi voi da cheile Împărăţiei Cerurilor şi orice vei lega pe pământ va fi legat în ceruri, iar orice vei dezlega pe pământ va fi dezlegat în ceruri.

And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of the heavens, and whatever thou shalt bind on the earth shall be bound in the heavens, and whatever thou shalt loose on the earth shall be loosed in the heaven.

20 A tunci le-a poruncit ucenicilor să nu spună nimănui că El este Cristosul. Isus vorbeşte despre moartea şi învierea Sa

Then he charged his disciples that they should tell no one that he was Jesus the Christ.

21 D e atunci încolo, Isus a început să le spună ucenicilor că El trebuie să meargă la Ierusalim şi să sufere mult din partea bătrânilor, din partea conducătorilor preoţilor şi din partea cărturarilor, să fie omorât, iar a treia zi să fie înviat.

¶ From that time forth Jesus began to declare unto his disciples, how it was expedient for him to go unto Jerusalem and to suffer many things of the elders and the princes of the priests and of the scribes and to be killed and to be raised again the third day.

22 P etru L-a luat atunci deoparte şi a început să-L mustre: – Ferească Dumnezeu, Doamne! Să nu cumva să Ţi se întâmple aşa ceva!

Then Peter, taking him aside, began to rebuke him, saying, Lord, be it far from thee; in no wise shall this happen unto thee.

23 D ar Isus S-a întors şi i-a zis lui Petru: – Înapoia Mea, Satan! Tu eşti o piatră de poticnire pentru Mine, căci tu nu te gândeşti la lucrurile lui Dumnezeu, ci la lucrurile oamenilor!

But he turned and said unto Peter, Remove thyself from before me, Satan; thou art an offence unto me, for thou dost not understand that which is of God, but that which is of men.

24 A tunci Isus le-a zis ucenicilor Săi: – Dacă vrea cineva să vină după Mine, să se lepede de sine, să-şi ia crucea şi să Mă urmeze!

¶ Then Jesus said unto his disciples, If anyone will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.

25 C ăci oricine vrea să-şi salveze viaţa o va pierde, dar cel ce-şi pierde viaţa pentru Mine o va găsi.

For whosoever desires to save his life shall lose it, and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

26 Ş i la ce i-ar folosi unui om să câştige întreaga lume, dacă şi-ar pierde sufletul? Sau ce va da un om în schimbul sufletului său?

For what is a man profited if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

27 C ăci Fiul Omului urmează să vină în slava Tatălui Său, împreună cu îngerii Lui, şi atunci El va răsplăti fiecăruia după faptele lui.

For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he shall reward everyone according to their works.

28 A devărat vă spun că sunt unii dintre cei ce stau aici, care nu vor gusta moartea înainte de a-L vedea pe Fiul Omului venind în Împărăţia Sa.

Verily I say unto you, There are some standing here who shall not taste of death until they have seen the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
