1 A tunci Iov I-a răspuns Domnului:

¶ Then Job answered the LORD, and said,

2 „ Ştiu că Tu poţi face orice lucru şi că nimic nu poate împiedica planurile Tale.

I know that thou canst do every thing and that there is no thought hidden from thee.

3 T u ai întrebat: «Cine este cel ce-Mi întunecă sfatul vorbind fără să cunoască?» Într-adevăr am spus lucruri pe care nu le-am înţeles, lucruri prea minunate pentru mine, pe care nu le-am cunoscut.

Who is he that hides counsel without knowledge? Therefore, I have denounced that which I did not understand, things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.

4 T u ai zis: «Ascultă şi voi vorbi! Te voi întreba şi Mă vei învăţa.»

Hear, now, and I will speak; I will ask of thee, and thou shalt cause me to know.

5 U rechea mea a auzit despre Tine, dar acum ochiul meu Te-a văzut.

With my ears I had heard thee; but now my eyes see thee.

6 D e aceea mă dispreţuiesc şi mă pocăiesc în ţărână şi cenuşă.“ Epilog

Therefore, I abhor myself and repent in dust and ashes.

7 D upă ce Domnul i-a spus aceste cuvinte lui Iov, Domnul i-a zis lui Elifaz din Teman: „Mânia Mea s-a aprins împotriva ta şi împotriva celor doi prieteni ai tăi, căci nu aţi vorbit drept despre Mine ca robul Meu Iov.

¶ And it was so, that after the LORD had spoken these words unto Job, the LORD said to Eliphaz, the Temanite, My wrath has been kindled against thee, and against thy two friends; for ye have not spoken by me in uprightness, as my slave Job has.

8 D e aceea, ia acum şapte viţei şi şapte berbeci, duceţi-vă la robul Meu Iov şi aduceţi o ardere de tot pentru voi; robul Meu Iov să se roage pentru voi şi Eu voi primi rugăciunea lui şi nu vă voi face după nebunia voastră. Căci nu aţi vorbit drept despre Mine ca robul Meu Iov.“

Therefore, take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my slave Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my slave Job shall pray for you; for only because I will accept him, I shall not deal with you according to your folly, in that ye have not spoken by me in uprightness, like my slave Job.

9 A stfel Elifaz din Teman, Bildad din Şuah şi Ţofar din Naamat au făcut ceea ce le-a zis Domnul. Şi Domnul a primit rugăciunea lui Iov.

So Eliphaz, the Temanite, and Bildad, the Shuhite, and Zophar, the Naamathite, went, and did according as the LORD commanded them; and the LORD accepted Job.

10 D upă ce s-a rugat Iov pentru prietenii săi, Domnul i-a redat bunăstarea; i-a dat de două ori mai mult decât a avut înainte.

¶ And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends; also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.

11 T oţi fraţii şi surorile sale şi oricine l-a cunoscut înainte au venit şi au mâncat cu el în casa sa. I-au arătat compasiune şi l-au mângâiat sufleteşte pentru tot necazul pe care l-a adus Domnul asupra lui. Fiecare i-a dat câte un chesita şi un inel de aur.

Then all his brethren came unto him and all his sisters and all those that had been of his acquaintance before and ate bread with him in his house; and they condoled him and comforted him over all the evil that the LORD had brought upon him; each one also gave him an ewe, and an earring of gold.

12 D omnul a binecuvântat zilele din urmă ale lui Iov mai mult decât începutul său. El a avut paisprezece mii de oi, şase mii de cămile, o mie de boi şi o mie de măgari.

So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning; for he had fourteen thousand sheep and six thousand camels and a thousand yoke of oxen and a thousand she asses.

13 A avut şapte fii şi trei fiice.

He also had seven sons and three daughters.

14 C elei dintâi i-a pus numele Iemima, celei de-a doua Cheţia şi celei de-a treia Cheren-Hapuch.

And he called the name of the first, Jemima, and the name of the second, Kezia, and the name of the third, Kerenhappuch.

15 Î n toată ţara nu erau femei atât de frumoase ca fetele lui Iov, şi tatăl lor le-a dat o moştenire împreună cu fraţii lor.

And in all the land no women were found as beautiful as the daughters of Job; and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren.

16 I ov a mai trăit după aceea o sută patruzeci de ani. El a văzut pe fiii săi şi pe fiii fiilor săi până la a patra generaţie.

After this Job lived one hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons’ sons, even four generations.

17 I ov a murit înaintat în vârstă şi sătul de zile.

So Job died, being old and full of days.
