1 A tunci Iov I-a răspuns Domnului:

Then Job answered the Lord, and said,

2 „ Ştiu că Tu poţi face orice lucru şi că nimic nu poate împiedica planurile Tale.

“I know that You can do all things. Nothing can put a stop to Your plans.

3 T u ai întrebat: «Cine este cel ce-Mi întunecă sfatul vorbind fără să cunoască?» Într-adevăr am spus lucruri pe care nu le-am înţeles, lucruri prea minunate pentru mine, pe care nu le-am cunoscut.

‘Who is this that hides words of wisdom without much learning?’ I have said things that I did not understand, things too great for me, which I did not know.

4 T u ai zis: «Ascultă şi voi vorbi! Te voi întreba şi Mă vei învăţa.»

‘Hear now, and I will speak. I will ask you, and you answer Me.’

5 U rechea mea a auzit despre Tine, dar acum ochiul meu Te-a văzut.

I had heard of You only by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees You.

6 D e aceea mă dispreţuiesc şi mă pocăiesc în ţărână şi cenuşă.“ Epilog

So I hate the things that I have said. And I put dust and ashes on myself to show how sorry I am.” Job Is Richer Now

7 D upă ce Domnul i-a spus aceste cuvinte lui Iov, Domnul i-a zis lui Elifaz din Teman: „Mânia Mea s-a aprins împotriva ta şi împotriva celor doi prieteni ai tăi, căci nu aţi vorbit drept despre Mine ca robul Meu Iov.

After the Lord had spoken these words to Job, the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “My anger burns against you and your two friends, because you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has.

8 D e aceea, ia acum şapte viţei şi şapte berbeci, duceţi-vă la robul Meu Iov şi aduceţi o ardere de tot pentru voi; robul Meu Iov să se roage pentru voi şi Eu voi primi rugăciunea lui şi nu vă voi face după nebunia voastră. Căci nu aţi vorbit drept despre Mine ca robul Meu Iov.“

So now take seven bulls and seven rams, and go to My servant Job. Give a burnt gift for yourselves, and My servant Job will pray for you. For I will hear his prayer and not punish you for being foolish, because you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has.”

9 A stfel Elifaz din Teman, Bildad din Şuah şi Ţofar din Naamat au făcut ceea ce le-a zis Domnul. Şi Domnul a primit rugăciunea lui Iov.

So Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite, did what the Lord told them. And the Lord heard Job’s prayer.

10 D upă ce s-a rugat Iov pentru prietenii săi, Domnul i-a redat bunăstarea; i-a dat de două ori mai mult decât a avut înainte.

The Lord returned to Job all the things that he had lost, when he prayed for his friends. The Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.

11 T oţi fraţii şi surorile sale şi oricine l-a cunoscut înainte au venit şi au mâncat cu el în casa sa. I-au arătat compasiune şi l-au mângâiat sufleteşte pentru tot necazul pe care l-a adus Domnul asupra lui. Fiecare i-a dat câte un chesita şi un inel de aur.

Then all his brothers and sisters and all who had known him before came to him, and ate bread with him in his house. They showed pity and comforted him for all the trouble the Lord had brought upon him. Each one gave him one piece of money and a gold ring.

12 D omnul a binecuvântat zilele din urmă ale lui Iov mai mult decât începutul său. El a avut paisprezece mii de oi, şase mii de cămile, o mie de boi şi o mie de măgari.

The Lord brought more good to Job in his later years than in his beginning. He had 14, 000 sheep, 6, 000 camels, 2, 000 oxen, and 1, 000 female donkeys.

13 A avut şapte fii şi trei fiice.

He had seven sons and three daughters also.

14 C elei dintâi i-a pus numele Iemima, celei de-a doua Cheţia şi celei de-a treia Cheren-Hapuch.

He gave the first the name Jemimah, the second Keziah, and the third Keren-happuch.

15 Î n toată ţara nu erau femei atât de frumoase ca fetele lui Iov, şi tatăl lor le-a dat o moştenire împreună cu fraţii lor.

No women were found in all the land who were as beautiful as Job’s daughters. And their father gave them a share among their brothers.

16 I ov a mai trăit după aceea o sută patruzeci de ani. El a văzut pe fiii săi şi pe fiii fiilor săi până la a patra generaţie.

After this Job lived 140 years, and saw his sons, his grandsons, and even their sons.

17 I ov a murit înaintat în vârstă şi sătul de zile.

Then Job died, an old man having lived many days.
