1 А Йов відповів Господеві й сказав:

Then Job answered the Lord, and said,

2 Я знаю, що можеш Ти все, і не спиняється задум у Тебе!

“I know that You can do all things. Nothing can put a stop to Your plans.

3 Х то ж то такий, що ховає пораду немудру? Тому я говорив, але не розумів... Це чудніше від мене, й не знаю його:

‘Who is this that hides words of wisdom without much learning?’ I have said things that I did not understand, things too great for me, which I did not know.

4 С лухай же ти, а Я буду казати, запитаю тебе, ти ж Мені поясни...

‘Hear now, and I will speak. I will ask you, and you answer Me.’

5 Т ільки послухом уха я чув був про Тебе, а тепер моє око ось бачить Тебе...

I had heard of You only by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees You.

6 Т ому я зрікаюсь говореного, і каюсь у поросі й попелі!...

So I hate the things that I have said. And I put dust and ashes on myself to show how sorry I am.” Job Is Richer Now

7 І сталося по тому, як Господь промовив ці слова до Йова, сказав Господь теманянину Еліфазові: Запалився Мій гнів на тебе та на двох твоїх приятелів, бо ви не говорили слушного про Мене, як раб Мій Йов.

After the Lord had spoken these words to Job, the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “My anger burns against you and your two friends, because you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has.

8 А тепер візьміть собі сім бичків та сім баранів, і йдіть до Мого раба Йова, і принесете цілопалення за себе, а Мій раб Йов помолиться за вас, бо тільки з ним Я буду рахуватися, щоб не вчинити вам злої речі, бо ви не говорили слушного про Мене, як раб Мій Йов.

So now take seven bulls and seven rams, and go to My servant Job. Give a burnt gift for yourselves, and My servant Job will pray for you. For I will hear his prayer and not punish you for being foolish, because you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has.”

9 І пішли теманянин Еліфаз, і шух'янин Білдад, та нааматянин Цофар, і зробили, як говорив їм Господь. І споглянув Господь на Йова.

So Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite, did what the Lord told them. And the Lord heard Job’s prayer.

10 І Господь привернув Йова до першого стану, коли він помолився за своїх приятелів. І помножив Господь усе, що Йов мав, удвоє.

The Lord returned to Job all the things that he had lost, when he prayed for his friends. The Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.

11 І поприходили до нього всі брати його, і всі сестри його та всі попередні знайомі його, і їли з ним хліб у його домі. І вони головою хитали над ним, та потішали його за все зле, що Господь був спровадив на нього. І дали вони йому кожен по одній кеситі, і кожен по одній золотій обручці.

Then all his brothers and sisters and all who had known him before came to him, and ate bread with him in his house. They showed pity and comforted him for all the trouble the Lord had brought upon him. Each one gave him one piece of money and a gold ring.

12 А Господь поблагословив останок днів Йова більше від початку його, і було в нього чотирнадцять тисяч дрібної худоби, і шість тисяч верблюдів, тисяча пар худоби великої та тисяча ослиць.

The Lord brought more good to Job in his later years than in his beginning. He had 14, 000 sheep, 6, 000 camels, 2, 000 oxen, and 1, 000 female donkeys.

13 І було в нього семеро синів та три дочки.

He had seven sons and three daughters also.

14 І назвав він ім'я першій: Єміма, і ім'я другій: Кеція, а ім'я третій: Керен-Гаппух.

He gave the first the name Jemimah, the second Keziah, and the third Keren-happuch.

15 І таких вродливих жінок, як Йовові дочки, не знайшлося по всій землі. І дав їм їх батько спадщину поміж їхніми братами.

No women were found in all the land who were as beautiful as Job’s daughters. And their father gave them a share among their brothers.

16 А Йов жив по тому сотню й сорок років, і побачив синів своїх та синів синів своїх, чотири поколінні.

After this Job lived 140 years, and saw his sons, his grandsons, and even their sons.

17 І впокоївся Йов старим та насиченим днями.

Then Job died, an old man having lived many days.
