1 І був цар Соломон царем над усім Ізраїлем.

Now King Solomon was the king of all Israel.

2 А оце його провідники: Азарія, Садоків син, священик.

These were the king’s men. Azariah the son of Zadok was the religious leader.

3 Е ліхореф та Ахійя, сини Шіші, писарі. Йосафат, син Ахілудів, канцлер.

Shisha’s sons Elihoreph and Ahijah were the heads of meetings. Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was the one who wrote down the things of the nation.

4 А Беная, Єгоядин син, над військом, а Садок та Евіятар священики.

Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was captain of the army. Zadok and Abiathar were religious leaders.

5 А Азарія, Натанів син, над намісниками, а Завуд, син Натанів священик, товариш царів.

Azariah the son of Nathan was over the leaders. Zabud the son of Nathan was a religious leader and the king’s friend.

6 А Ахішар над домом, а Адонірам, Авдин син над даниною.

Ahishar was head of the king’s house. And Adoniram the son of Abda was head of the men who were made to work.

7 А в Соломона було дванадцять намісників над усім Ізраїлем, і вони годували царя та дім його, місяць на рік був на одного на годування.

Solomon had twelve men over all Israel, who brought food for the king and those of his house. Each man had to bring food for one month in the year.

8 А оце їхні імена: Бен-Гур в Єфремових горах,

These were their names. There was Ben-hur, in the hill country of Ephraim,

9 Б ен-Декер у Макаці, і в Шаалевімі, і в Бет-Шемеші, і в Елоні Бет-Ганану.

and Ben-deker in Makaz. There were Shaalbim, Beth-shemesh, Elonbeth-hanan,

10 Б ен-Гесед в Арубботі, йому належали: Сохо та ввесь край Хеферу.

Ben-hesed in Arrubboth (Socoh and all the land of Hepher belonged to him),

11 Б ен-Авінадав уся околиця Дору; Тафат, Соломонова дочка, була йому за жінку.

and Ben-abinadab in all Naphath-Dor (Solomon’s daughter Taphath was his wife).

12 Б аана, Ахілудів син Таанах і Меґіддо та ввесь Бет-Шеан, що при Цартані, нижче Їзреелу, від Бет-Шеану аж до Авел-Мехола, аж до того боку Йокмеаму.

There was Baana the son of Ahilud, in Taanach and Megiddo and all Beth-shean which is beside Zarethan below Jezreel, from Beth-shean to Abel-meholah as far as the other side of Jokmeam.

13 Б ен-Ґевер у ґілеадському Рамоті, йому належали: оселі Яїра, сина Манасії, що в Ґілеаді, йому околиця Арґову, що в Башані, шістдесят міст великих, із муром та з мідяним засувом.

There was Bengeber in Ramoth-gilead. (The towns of Manasseh’s son Jair which are in Gilead were his. And he had the land of Argob in Bashan, where there were sixty big cities with walls and locks of brass.)

14 А хінадав, син Іддо в Маханаїмі.

There was Ahinadab the son of Iddo in Mahanaim,

15 А хімаац в Нефталимі; також він узяв Босмат, Соломонову дочку, за жінку.

Ahimaaz in Naphtali (who married Solomon’s daughter Basemath),

16 Б аана, Хушаїв син, в Асирі та в Бе-Алоті.

and Baana the son of Hushai in Asher and Bealoth.

17 Й осафат, Паруахів син, в Іссахарі.

And there was Jehoshaphat the son of Paruah in Issachar,

18 Ш ім'ї, Елин син, у Веніямині.

Shimei the son of Ela in Benjamin,

19 Ґ евер, син Уріїв, у ґілеадському краї, у краї Сигона, царя аморейського, та Оґа, царя башанського. А один намісник, що в усьому Краї.

and Geber the son of Uri in the land of Gilead, the country of Sihon king of the Amorites and of Og king of Bashan. He was the only leader in the land. Solomon’s Riches

20 Ю да та Ізраїль були численні, як пісок, що над морем, щодо многоти. Вони їли й пили та тішилися!

There were many people in Judah and Israel, as much as the sand beside the sea. They were eating and drinking and full of joy.

21 ( 5-1) А Соломон панував над усіма царствами від Річки аж до филистимського краю та аж до границі Єгипту. Вони приносили дари та служили Соломонові по всі дні його життя.

Solomon ruled over all the nations from the Euphrates River to the land of the Philistines and to the land of Egypt. They brought taxes and worked for Solomon all the days of his life.

22 ( 5-2) І була Соломонова пожива на один день: тридцять корів пшеничної муки, а шістдесят корів іншої муки.

The food brought to Solomon for one day was 300 baskets of fine flour, 600 baskets of seeds,

23 ( 5-3) Десятеро з великої ситої худоби, і двадцятеро з худоби великої з паші та сотня худоби дрібної, окрім оленя, і сарни, і антилопи та ситих гусок.

ten fat bulls, twenty grass-fed bulls, 100 sheep, and deer, gazelles, roebucks and fat birds.

24 ( 5-4) Бо він панував по всій цій стороні Річки від Тіфсаху та аж до Аззи над усіма царями по цей бік Річки. І був у нього мир зо всіх сторін його навколо.

Solomon ruled over everything west of the Euphrates River, from Tiphsah to Gaza. He ruled over all the kings west of the Euphrates. And he had peace around him on all sides.

25 ( 5-5) І безпечно сидів Юда та Ізраїль, кожен під своїм виноградником та під своєю фіґою від Дану й аж до Беер-Шеви всі дні Соломона.

So Judah and Israel were safe. Every man was safe under his vine and fig tree, from Dan to Beersheba, all the days of Solomon.

26 ( 5-6) І було в Соломона сорок тисяч стійлів для коней колесниць його та дванадцять тисяч верхівців.

Solomon had 40, 000 rooms for his war-wagon horses, and 12, 000 horsemen.

27 ( 5-7) І годували ці намісники царя Соломона та кожного, хто приходив до столу царя Соломона, кожен свій місяць, і не було недостачі ні в чому.

Those leaders brought food for King Solomon and all who came to his table, each during his month. They made sure nothing was missing.

28 ( 5-8) А ячменю та соломи для коней та для румаків спроваджували до місця, де хто був, кожен за постановою для нього.

They brought barley and straw for the fast horses and the war-wagon horses, where it was needed. Each man did the work he had been given to do.

29 ( 5-9) І дав Бог Соломонові дуже багато мудрости та розуму, а широкість серця як пісок, що на березі моря.

God gave Solomon wisdom and much understanding and learning, as much as the sand beside the sea.

30 ( 5-10) І збільшилася Соломонова мудрість над мудрість усіх синів сходу та над усю мудрість Єгипту.

Solomon’s wisdom was greater than the wisdom of all the people of the east and all the wisdom of Egypt.

31 ( 5-11) І був він мудріший від усякого чоловіка, від Етана езрахітського, і Гемана, і Калкола та Дарди, Махолових синів. А ім'я його було славне серед усіх людей навколо.

He was wiser than all men, than Ethan the Ezrahite, Heman, Calcol, Darda, and the sons of Mahol. His name was known in all the nations around him.

32 ( 5-12) І він проказав три тисячі приказок, а пісень його було тисяча й п'ять.

He spoke 3, 000 wise sayings and wrote 1, 005 songs.

33 ( 5-13) І говорив він про дерева, від кедру, що на Ливані, й аж до ісопу, що росте на стіні. І говорив про худобу, і про птаства, і про плазуюче та про риб.

He spoke of trees, from the cedar in Lebanon to the hyssop that grows on the wall. He spoke of animals, birds, things that moved upon the ground, and fish.

34 ( 5-14) І приходили від усіх народів, щоб послухати Соломонову мудрість, від усіх царів краю, що чули про мудрість його.

Men came from all nations to hear the wisdom of Solomon. They came from all the kings of the earth who had heard of his wisdom.
