1 П ісля цього Ісус ходив по Галілеї, не хотів бо ходити по Юдеї, бо юдеї шукали нагоди, щоб убити Його.

Jesus did not stay in the country of Judea because the Jews were trying to kill Him. After this He went from place to place in the country of Galilee.

2 А надходило свято юдейське Кучки.

A religious gathering of the Jews was near. This gathering was called the Supper of Tents.

3 І сказали до Нього брати Його: Піди звідси, і йди до Юдеї, щоб і учні Твої побачили вчинки Твої, що Ти робиш.

The brothers of Jesus said to Him, “Leave here and go to the country of Judea. Let Your followers there see the things You do.

4 Т айкома бо не робить нічого ніхто, але сам прагне бути відомий. Коли Ти таке чиниш, то з'яви Себе світові.

If a person wants others to know what he is doing, he does things to be seen. Since You are doing such things, show Yourself to the world.”

5 Б о не вірували в Нього навіть брати Його!

Not even His brothers were putting their trust in Him.

6 А Ісус промовляє до них: Не настав ще Мій час, але завжди готовий час ваш.

Jesus said to them, “My time has not yet come. But any time is good for you.

7 В ас ненавидіти світ не може, а Мене він ненавидить, бо Я свідчу про нього, що діла його злі.

The world cannot hate you but it hates Me. I speak against the world because of its sinful works.

8 І діть на це свято, Я ж іще не піду на це свято, бо не виповнився ще Мій час.

You go to the religious gathering. I am not going yet. My time has not yet come.”

9 Ц е сказавши до них, Він зоставсь у Галілеї.

Jesus told His brothers this and then stayed in Galilee.

10 К оли ж вийшли на свято брати Його, тоді й Сам Він пішов, не відкрито, але ніби потай.

His brothers went to the religious gathering. He went later by Himself so He would not be seen there.

11 А юдеї за свята шукали Його та питали: Де Він?

At the religious gathering the Jews were looking for Jesus. They were saying, “Where is He?”

12 І поголоска велика про Нього в народі була. Одні говорили: Він добрий, а інші казали: Ні, Він зводить з дороги народ...

There was much talk among the people about Him. Some said, “He is a good Man.” Others said, “No, He leads the people in the wrong way.”

13 Т а відкрито про Нього ніхто не казав, бо боялись юдеїв.

No one spoke about Him in front of other people. They were afraid of the Jews. Jesus Tells Where His Teaching Is From

14 У половині вже свята Ісус у храм увійшов і навчав.

The religious gathering was half over when Jesus went to the house of God and taught.

15 І дивувались юдеї й казали: Як Він знає Писання, не вчившись?

The Jews were surprised and wondered, saying, “How can this Man know so much when He has never been to school?”

16 В ідповів їм Ісус і сказав: Наука Моя не Моя, а Того, Хто послав Мене.

Jesus said to them, “What I teach is not Mine. It is from God Who sent Me.

17 К оли хоче хто волю чинити Його, той довідається про науку, чи від Бога вона, чи від Себе Самого кажу Я.

If anyone will do what God wants, he will know if My teaching is from God, or if I am speaking of Myself.

18 Х то говорить від себе самого, той власної слави шукає, а Хто слави шукає Того, Хто послав Його, Той правдивий, і в Ньому неправди нема.

The man who speaks of himself is looking for greatness for himself. But He Who is looking for the greatness of the One Who sent Him is true. There is nothing false in Him.

19 Ч и ж Закона вам дав не Мойсей? Та ніхто з вас Закона того не виконує. Нащо хочете вбити Мене?

Did not Moses give you the Law? And yet not one of you keeps the Law. Why do you try to kill me?”

20 Н арод відповів: Чи Ти демона маєш? Хто Тебе хоче вбити?

The people said, “You have a demon in You. Who is trying to kill You?”

21 І сус відповів і сказав їм: Одне діло зробив Я, і всі ви дивуєтесь.

Jesus said to them, “I did one work and you are surprised.

22 Ч ерез це Мойсей дав обрізання вам, не тому, що воно від Мойсея, але від отців, та ви й у суботу обрізуєте чоловіка.

Moses gave you the religious act of becoming a Jew. (Yet it was not from Moses but from the early fathers.) You do this religious act on a man on the Day of Rest.

23 К оли ж чоловік у суботу приймає обрізання, щоб Закону Мойсеєвого не порушити, чого ж ремствуєте ви на Мене, що Я всю людину в суботу вздоровив?

Now if you can do that, why are you angry with Me for healing a man on the Day of Rest?

24 Н е судіть за обличчям, але суд справедливий чиніть!

Do not say a person is guilty by what you see. Be sure you know when you say what is right or wrong.”

25 Д ехто ж з єрусалимлян казали: Хіба це не Той, що Його шукають убити?

Some of the people of Jerusalem said, “Is not this the Man the Jews want to kill?

26 Б о говорить відкрито ось Він, і нічого не кажуть Йому. Чи то справді дізналися старші, що Він дійсно Христос?

But see! This Man is speaking out in the open. They are saying nothing to Him. Do the leaders know this is the true Christ?

27 Т а ми знаєм Цього, звідки Він. Про Христа ж, коли прийде, ніхто знати не буде, звідки Він.

We know where this Man came from. When the Christ comes, no one will know where He comes from.”

28 І скликнув у храмі Ісус, навчаючи й кажучи: І Мене знаєте ви, і знаєте, звідки Я. А Я не прийшов Сам від Себе; правдивий же Той, Хто послав Мене, що Його ви не знаєте.

Then Jesus spoke with a loud voice as He taught in the house of God. He said, “You know Me. You know where I came from. I have not come on My own. The One Who sent Me is true but you do not know Him.

29 Я знаю Його, Я бо від Нього, і послав Мене Він!

I know Him because I am from Him and He sent Me.”

30 Т ож шукали вони, щоб схопити Його, та ніхто не наклав рук на Нього, бо то ще не настала година Його.

Then they wanted to take Jesus but no one put his hands on Him. His time had not yet come.

31 А багато з народу в Нього ввірували та казали: Коли прийде Христос, чи ж Він чуда чинитиме більші, як чинить Оцей?

Many of the people believed in Him. They said, “When Christ comes, will He do more powerful works than this Man?”

32 Ф арисеї прочули такі поголоски про Нього в народі. Тоді первосвященики та фарисеї послали свою службу, щоб схопити Його.

The proud religious law-keepers heard the people talking about Jesus. The religious leaders of the Jews and the proud religious law-keepers sent soldiers to take Him.

33 І сус же сказав: Ще недовго побуду Я з вами, та й до Того піду, Хто послав Мене.

Jesus said to them, “I will be with you a little while yet. Then I will go back to Him Who sent Me.

34 В и будете шукати Мене, і не знайдете; а туди, де Я є, ви прибути не можете...

You will look for Me but you will not find Me. Where I go, you cannot come.”

35 Т оді говорили юдеї між собою: Куди це Він хоче йти, що не знайдемо Його? Чи не хоче йти до виселенців між греки, та й греків навчати?

The Jews said to themselves, “Where can He go that we will not find Him? Will He go to our people who live among the Greeks and teach the Greeks?

36 Щ о за слово, яке Він сказав: Ви будете шукати Мене, і не знайдете; а туди, де Я є, ви прибути не можете?

What does He mean when He says, ‘You will look for Me but you will not find Me, and where I go, you cannot come’ ?” Jesus Promises to Give the Holy Spirit

37 А останнього великого дня свята Ісус стояв і кликав, говорячи: Коли прагне хто з вас нехай прийде до Мене та й п'є!

It was the last and great day of the religious gathering. Jesus stood up and spoke with a loud voice, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.

38 Х то вірує в Мене, як каже Писання, то ріки живої води потечуть із утроби його.

The Holy Writings say that rivers of living water will flow from the heart of the one who puts his trust in Me.”

39 Ц е ж сказав Він про Духа, що мали прийняти Його, хто ввірував у Нього. Не було бо ще Духа на них, не був бо Ісус ще прославлений.

Jesus said this about the Holy Spirit Who would come to those who put their trust in Him. The Holy Spirit had not yet been given. Jesus had not yet been raised to the place of honor. The People Cannot Make Up Their Minds Who He Is

40 А багато з народу, почувши слова ті, казали: Він справді пророк!

When many of the people heard His words, they said, “For sure, this is the One Who speaks for God.”

41 І нші казали: Він Христос. А ще інші казали: Хіба прийде Христос із Галілеї?

Others said, “He is the Christ!” Some said, “The Christ would not come from the country of Galilee, would He?

42 Ч и ж не каже Писання, що Христос прийде з роду Давидового, і з села Віфлеєму, звідкіля був Давид?

Do not the Holy Writings say that the Christ will come from the family of David? Will He not come from the town of Bethlehem where David lived?”

43 Т ак повстала незгода в народі з-за Нього.

The people were divided in what they thought about Him.

44 А декотрі з них мали замір схопити Його, та ніхто не поклав рук на Нього.

Some of them wanted to take Him. But no one put their hands on Him.

45 І вернулася служба до первосвящеників та фарисеїв, а ті їх запитали: Чому не привели ви Його?

The soldiers came back to the religious leaders of the Jews and to the proud religious law-keepers. They said to the soldiers, “Why did you not bring Him?”

46 В ідказала та служба: Чоловік ще ніколи так не промовляв, як Оцей Чоловік...

The soldiers answered, “No man has ever spoken like this Man speaks.”

47 А їм відповіли фарисеї: Чи й вас із дороги не зведено?

The proud religious law-keepers said, “Have you been led the wrong way also?

48 Х іба хто з старших або з фарисеїв увірував у Нього?

Has anyone of the leaders or anyone from our group believed in Him?

49 Т а проклятий народ, що не знає Закону!

As for all these people, they do not know the Law. They are guilty and will be punished by God.”

50 Г оворить до них Никодим, що приходив до Нього вночі, і що був один із них:

(Nicodemus was one of the proud religious law-keepers. He had come to Jesus at another time.) Nicodemus said to them,

51 Х іба судить Закон наш людину, як перше її не вислухає, і не дізнається, що вона робить?

“Our Law does not say a man is guilty before he has been in court and before we know what he has done.”

52 Й ому відповіли та сказали вони: Чи й ти не з Галілеї? Досліди та побач, що не прийде Пророк із Галілеї.

They said to him, “Are you from Galilee also? Look into the Word of God yourself. You will see that no one who speaks for God comes from Galilee.”

53 І до дому свого пішов кожен.

Then everyone went home.
