1 К ожен, хто вірує, що Ісус то Христос, той родився від Бога. І кожен, хто любить Того, Хто породив, любить і Того, Хто народився від Нього.

The person who believes that Jesus is the Christ is a child of God. The person who loves the Father loves His children also.

2 Щ о ми любимо Божих дітей, дізнаємося з того, коли любимо Бога і Його заповіді додержуємо.

This is the way we know we love God’s children. It is when we love God and obey His Word.

3 Б о то любов Божа, щоб ми додержували Його заповіді, Його ж заповіді не тяжкі.

Loving God means to obey His Word, and His Word is not hard to obey.

4 Б о кожен, хто родився від Бога, перемагає світ. А оце перемога, що світ перемогла, віра наша.

Every child of God has power over the sins of the world. The way we have power over the sins of the world is by our faith.

5 А хто світ перемагає, як не той, хто вірує, що Ісус то Син Божий?

Who could have power over the world except by believing that Jesus is the Son of God?

6 Т о Той, що прийшов був водою та кров'ю, Ісус Христос. І не тільки водою, а водою та кров'ю. І Дух свідчить, бо Дух то правда.

Jesus Christ came by water and blood. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. The Holy Spirit speaks about this and He is truth.

7 Б о троє свідкують на небі: Отець, Слово й Святий Дух, і ці Троє Одно.

There are three Who speak of this in heaven: the Father and the Word and the Holy Spirit. These three are one.

8 І троє свідкують на землі: дух, і вода, і кров, і троє в одно.

There are three who speak of this on the earth: the Holy Spirit and the water and the blood. These three speak the same thing.

9 К оли ми приймаємо свідчення людське, то свідчення Боже вартніше, бо це свідчення Бога, яким свідчив про Сина Свого.

If we believe what men say, we can be sure what God says is more important. God has spoken as He has told us about His Son.

10 Х то вірує в Божого Сина, той свідчення має в собі. Хто не вірує Богові, той учинив Його неправдомовцем, бо не вірив у свідчення, яким Бог свідчив про Сина Свого.

The person who puts his trust in God’s Son knows in his own heart that Jesus is the Son of God. The person who does not have his trust in God’s Son makes God a liar. It is because he has not believed the word God spoke about His Son.

11 А це свідчення, що Бог життя вічне нам дав, а життя це у Сині Його.

This is the word He spoke: God gave us life that lasts forever, and this life is in His Son.

12 Х то має Сина, той має життя; хто не має Сина Божого, той не має життя.

He that has the Son has life. He that does not have the Son of God does not have life.

13 О це написав я до вас, що віруєте в Ім'я Божого Сина, щоб ви знали, що ви віруючи в Ім'я Божого Сина, маєте вічне життя.

I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God. Now you can know you have life that lasts forever.

14 І оце та відвага, що ми маємо до Нього, що коли чого просимо згідно волі Його, то Він слухає нас.

We are sure that if we ask anything that He wants us to have, He will hear us.

15 А як знаємо, що Він слухає нас, чого тільки ми просимо, то знаємо, що одержуємо те, чого просимо від Нього.

If we are sure He hears us when we ask, we can be sure He will give us what we ask for.

16 К оли хто бачить брата свого, що грішить гріхом не на смерть, нехай молиться за нього, і Він життя йому дасть, тим, хто грішить не на смерть. Є й гріх на смерть, не про нього кажу, щоб молився.

You may see a Christian brother sinning in a way that does not lead to death. You should pray for him. God will give him life unless he has done that sin that leads to death. There is a sin that leads to death. There is no reason to pray for him if he has done that sin.

17 У сяка неправда то гріх. Та є гріх не на смерть.

Every kind of wrong-doing is sin. But there is a sin that does not lead to death.

18 М и знаємо, що кожен, хто народився від Бога, не грішить, бо хто народився від Бога, той себе береже, і лукавий його не торкається.

We know that no child of God keeps on sinning. The Son of God watches over him and the devil cannot get near him.

19 М и знаємо, що ми від Бога, і що ввесь світ лежить у злі.

We know that we belong to God, but the whole world is under the power of the devil.

20 М и знаємо, що Син Божий прийшов, і розум нам дав, щоб пізнати Правдивого, і щоб бути в правдивому Сині Його, Ісусі Христі. Він Бог правдивий і вічне життя!

We know God’s Son has come. He has given us the understanding to know Him Who is the true God. We are joined together with the true God through His Son, Jesus Christ. He is the true God and the life that lasts forever.
