1 A postolii şi fraţii care erau în Iudeea au auzit că neamurile au primit şi ele Cuvântul lui Dumnezeu.

The missionaries and followers who were in the country of Judea heard that the people who were not Jews also had received the Word of God.

2 C ând Petru s-a suit la Ierusalim, cei dintre creştinii circumcişi îl criticau,

When Peter went up to Jerusalem, the Jewish followers argued with him.

3 s punând: „Ai intrat în casă la nişte bărbaţi necircumcişi şi ai mâncat cu ei!“

They said, “Why did you visit those people who are not Jews and eat with them?”

4 A tunci Petru a început să le explice pe rând cele întâmplate şi le-a zis:

Then Peter began to tell all that had happened from the beginning to the end. He said,

5 „ Eram în cetatea Iafo şi, în timp ce mă rugam, am văzut, într-o răpire sufletească, o viziune; am văzut ceva ca o pânză mare fiind coborâtă din cer de cele patru colţuri. A venit până la mine.

“While I was praying in the city of Joppa, I saw in a dream something coming down from heaven. It was like a large linen cloth let down by the four corners until it came to me.

6 M -am uitat în ea cu atenţie şi am văzut patrupede de pe pământ, fiare sălbatice, animale mici şi păsări ale cerului.

As I looked at it, I saw four-footed animals and snakes of the earth and birds of the sky.

7 A poi am auzit un glas care mi-a zis: «Petru, ridică-te, înjunghie şi mănâncă!»

I heard a voice saying to me, ‘Get up, Peter, kill something and eat it.’

8 Î nsă eu am zis: «În nici un caz, Doamne! Căci niciodată n-a intrat în gura mea ceva pângărit sau necurat!»

But I said, ‘No, Lord! Nothing that is unclean has ever gone into my mouth.’

9 G lasul mi-a vorbit a doua oară din cer: «Ceea ce a curăţit Dumnezeu, să nu numeşti pângărit!»

The voice from heaven said the second time, ‘What God has made clean you must not say is unclean.’

10 L ucrul acesta s-a întâmplat de trei ori; apoi toate au fost ridicate iarăşi la cer.

This happened three times and then it was taken up again to heaven.

11 Ş i iată că imediat după aceea, la poarta casei în care eram stăteau trei bărbaţi, trimişi la mine din Cezareea.

“Three men had already come to the house where I was staying. They had been sent to me from the city of Caesarea.

12 D uhul mi-a spus să mă duc cu ei fără să fac deosebire. Cu mine au mers şi aceşti şase fraţi; am intrat împreună în casa acelui om,

The Holy Spirit told me to go with them and not doubt about going. These six men also went with me to this man’s house.

13 i ar el ne-a istorisit cum a văzut un înger stând în casa lui şi zicându -i: «Trimite la Iafo şi cheamă-l pe Simon, numit şi Petru,

He told us how he had seen an angel in his own home. The angel had stood in front of him and said, ‘Send men to Joppa to ask for Simon Peter.

14 c are îţi va spune cuvinte prin care vei fi mântuit tu şi toată casa ta!»

He will tell you and all your family how you can be saved from the punishment of sin.’

15 Î n timp ce eu începusem să vorbesc, Duhul Sfânt S-a coborât peste ei, aşa cum S-a coborât şi peste noi la început.

“As I began to talk to them, the Holy Spirit came down on them just as He did on us at the beginning.

16 A tunci mi-am amintit de vorba Domnului, mi-am amintit cum zicea: «Ioan a botezat cu apă, dar voi veţi fi botezaţi cu Duhul Sfânt.»

Then I remembered the Lord had said, ‘John baptized with water but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’

17 D eci, dacă Dumnezeu le-a dat acelaşi dar ca şi nouă, care am crezut în Domnul Isus Cristos, cine eram eu ca să-L pot împiedica pe Dumnezeu?!“

If God gave to them the same gift He gave to us after we put our trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, how could I stand against God?”

18 C ând au auzit ei aceste lucruri, s-au liniştit şi L-au slăvit pe Dumnezeu, zicând: „Aşadar, Dumnezeu le-a dat şi neamurilor pocăinţa care duce la viaţă!“ Biserica în Antiohia

When they heard these words, they said nothing more. They thanked God, saying, “Then God has given life also to the people who are not Jews. They have this new life by being sorry for their sins and turning from them.” The Followers Are Called Christians First In Antioch

19 C ei ce fuseseră împrăştiaţi de persecuţia care avusese loc în urma uciderii lui Ştefan au ajuns până în Fenicia, în Cipru şi în Antiohia. Ei nu vorbeau despre Cuvânt nimănui în afară de iudei.

Those who went different places because of the trouble that started over Stephen had gone as far as the cities of Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch. They had preached the Word, but only to the Jews.

20 C âţiva dintre ei însă, nişte bărbaţi din Cipru şi din Cirena, care veniseră în Antiohia, le-au vorbit şi eleniştilor, vestindu-le Evanghelia despre Domnul Isus.

Some of the men from Cyprus and Cyrene returned to Antioch. They preached the Good News of Jesus Christ to the Greek people there.

21 M âna Domnului era cu ei, şi astfel un mare număr de oameni au crezut şi s-au întors la Domnul.

The Lord gave them power. Many people put their trust in the Lord and turned to Him.

22 V estea despre ei a ajuns şi la urechile bisericii care era în Ierusalim, astfel că l-au trimis pe Barnabas să meargă până în Antiohia.

The news of this came to the church in Jerusalem. They sent Barnabas to Antioch.

23 C ând a ajuns şi a văzut harul lui Dumnezeu, s-a bucurat şi i-a îndemnat pe toţi să-I rămână credincioşi Domnului în toată năzuinţa inimii lor.

When he got there and saw how good God had been to them, he was full of joy. He told them to be true and faithful to the Lord.

24 C ăci Barnabas era un om bun şi plin de Duhul Sfânt şi de credinţă; şi o mare mulţime de oameni a fost adăugată la Domnul.

Barnabas was a good man and full of the Holy Spirit and faith. And many people became followers of the Lord.

25 S -a dus apoi la Tars, ca să-l caute pe Saul

From there Barnabas went on to the city of Tarsus to look for Saul.

26 ş i, când l-a găsit, l-a dus în Antiohia. Astfel, timp de un an întreg, ei s-au adunat cu biserica şi au dat învăţătură la o mare mulţime de oameni. În Antiohia ucenicii au fost numiţi pentru prima oară „creştini“.

When he found Saul, he brought him back with him to Antioch. For a year they taught many people in the church. The followers were first called Christians in Antioch. The Antioch Church Helps the Jerusalem Church

27 Î n acele zile, au venit de la Ierusalim în Antiohia nişte profeţi.

At that time some men who preached God’s Word came to Antioch and told what was going to happen. They were from Jerusalem.

28 U nul dintre ei, pe nume Agab, s-a ridicat şi a arătat, prin Duhul Sfânt, că urmează să vină o mare foamete în toată lumea. Şi aşa s-a şi întâmplat în timpul împăratului Claudiu.

One of them was Agabus. The Holy Spirit told him to stand up and speak. He told them there would be very little food to eat over all the world. This happened when Claudius was leader of the country.

29 A tunci ucenicii au hotărât să le trimită ajutor fraţilor care locuiau în Iudeea, fiecare după cât avea posibilitate;

The Christians agreed that each one should give what money he could to help the Christians living in Judea.

30 ş i aşa au şi făcut, trimiţând acest ajutor bătrânilor, prin Barnabas şi Saul.

They did this and sent it to the church leaders with Barnabas and Saul.
