1 D upă aceea, Isus a plecat pe celălalt mal al Mării Galileii, adică Marea Tiberiadei.

After this Jesus went over to the other side of the Sea of Galilee. It is sometimes called Tiberias.

2 O mare mulţime de oameni Îl urma, pentru că vedea semnele pe care le făcea cu cei bolnavi.

Many people followed Him. They saw the powerful works He did on those who were sick.

3 I sus S-a suit pe munte şi S-a aşezat acolo cu ucenicii Lui.

Jesus went up on a mountain and sat down with His followers.

4 P aştele, sărbătoarea iudeilor, era aproape.

The special religious supper to remember how the Jews left Egypt was soon.

5 C ând Isus Şi-a ridicat ochii şi a văzut că vine la El o mare mulţime, l-a întrebat pe Filip: – De unde să cumpărăm pâini ca să mănânce oamenii aceştia?

Jesus looked up and saw many people coming to Him. He said to Philip, “Where can we buy bread to feed these people?”

6 S punea lucrul acesta ca să-l încerce, însă El ştia ce urmează să facă.

He said this to see what Philip would say. Jesus knew what He would do.

7 F ilip I-a răspuns: – Pâinile pe care le-am putea cumpăra cu două sute de denari n-ar fi de ajuns ca fiecare să primească măcar câte puţin!

Philip said to Him, “The money we have is not enough to buy bread to give each one a little.”

8 U nul dintre ucenicii Lui, Andrei, fratele lui Simon Petru, I-a zis:

One of His followers was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. He said to Jesus,

9 – Este aici un băieţel care are cinci pâini de orz şi doi peşti. Dar ce sunt acestea la atâţia?!

“There is a boy here who has five loaves of barley bread and two small fish. What is that for so many people?”

10 I sus a zis: – Puneţi oamenii să se aşeze! În locul acela era multă iarbă. Aşa că bărbaţii s-au aşezat; ei erau în număr de aproape cinci mii.

Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” There was much grass in that place. About five thousand men sat down.

11 I sus a luat pâinile, a adus mulţumiri şi le-a împărţit celor ce se aşezaseră. De asemenea, le-a dat şi din peşti, cât au vrut.

Jesus took the loaves and gave thanks. Then He gave the bread to those who were sitting down. The fish were given out the same way. The people had as much as they wanted.

12 C ând s-au săturat, le-a zis ucenicilor Săi: – Adunaţi firimiturile rămase, ca să nu se piardă nimic!

When they were filled, Jesus said to His followers, “Gather up the pieces that are left. None will be wasted.”

13 L e-au adunat deci şi au umplut douăsprezece coşuri cu firimiturile de la cele cinci pâini de orz, firimituri pe care le lăsaseră cei ce mâncaseră.

The followers gathered the pieces together. Twelve baskets were filled with pieces of barley bread. These were left after all the people had eaten.

14 C ând au văzut oamenii acest semn pe care l-a făcut El, au zis: „Într-adevăr, Acesta este Profetul Care urma să vină în lume!“

The people saw the powerful work Jesus had done. They said, “It is true! This is the One Who speaks for God Who is to come into the world.” Jesus Walks on the Water

15 A tunci Isus, ştiind că au de gând să vină să-L ia cu forţa ca să-L facă rege, S-a retras din nou la munte, doar El singur. Isus umblă pe apă

Jesus knew they were about to come and take Him to make Him king, so He went to the mountain by Himself.

16 C ând s-a lăsat seara, ucenicii Lui au coborât la mare,

When evening had come, His followers went down to the lake.

17 s -au urcat într-o barcă şi s-au dus înspre partea cealaltă a mării, la Capernaum. Se făcuse deja întuneric şi Isus încă nu venise la ei,

They got into a boat and started to cross the lake to go to the city of Capernaum. By this time it was dark. Jesus had not come back to them yet.

18 i ar marea devenea agitată, pentru că sufla un vânt puternic.

A strong wind was making high waves on the lake.

19 D upă ce au vâslit cam douăzeci şi cinci sau treizeci de stadii, L-au văzut pe Isus umblând pe mare şi apropiindu-Se de barcă şi li s-a făcut frică.

They were about half way across the lake when they saw Jesus walking on the water. As He got near the boat, they were afraid.

20 E l însă le-a zis: „Eu sunt! Nu vă temeţi!“

But Jesus called to them, “It is I. Do not be afraid.”

21 A tunci ei au fost gata să-L ia în barcă. Şi barca a ajuns imediat la ţărmul spre care se îndreptau. Isus, Pâinea vieţii

They were glad to take Him into the boat. At once they got to the other side where they wanted to go. Jesus Teaches Many People

22 Î n ziua următoare, mulţimea care stătuse pe celălalt mal al mării a văzut că acolo nu era decât o singură barcă şi că Isus nu Se suise în barcă cu ucenicii Săi, ci că ucenicii plecaseră singuri.

The next day the people on the other side of the lake saw no other boat there but the one His followers had been in. The people knew Jesus had not gone with His followers in the boat because they had gone alone.

23 D e asemenea, şi alte bărci din Tiberiada sosiseră aproape de locul unde mâncaseră pâinea, după ce Domnul adusese mulţumiri.

There were other boats from Tiberias that had come near the place where they had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks.

24 C ând mulţimea a văzut că nici Isus, nici ucenicii Lui nu sunt acolo, s-au urcat ei înşişi în bărci şi s-au dus la Capernaum, în căutarea lui Isus.

The people saw that Jesus and His followers were not there. They got into boats and went to Capernaum looking for Jesus.

25 C ând L-au găsit, de cealaltă parte a mării, I-au zis: – Rabbi, când ai venit aici?

The people found Him on the other side of the lake. They said to Him, “Teacher, when did You come here?”

26 I sus le-a răspuns: – Adevărat, adevărat vă spun că voi Mă căutaţi nu pentru că aţi văzut semne, ci pentru că aţi mâncat din pâini şi v-aţi săturat!

Jesus said to them, “For sure, I tell you, you are not looking for Me because of the powerful works. You are looking for Me because you ate bread and were filled.

27 L ucraţi nu pentru mâncarea care se strică, ci pentru mâncarea care rămâne pentru viaţa veşnică şi pe care v-o va da Fiul Omului! Căci pe El Şi-a pus Dumnezeu Tatăl pecetea!

Do not work for food that does not last. Work for food that lasts forever. The Son of Man will give you that kind of food. God the Father has shown He will do this.” Jesus Teaches about Doing the Work of God

28 A tunci ei L-au întrebat: – Ce să facem ca să înfăptuim lucrările lui Dumnezeu?

Then the people said to Him, “What are the works God wants us to do?”

29 I sus le-a răspuns: – Lucrarea lui Dumnezeu este aceasta: să credeţi în Acela pe Care L-a trimis El!

Jesus said to them, “This is the work of God, that you put your trust in the One He has sent.”

30 P rin urmare, ei L-au întrebat: – Şi ce semn faci Tu, ca să vedem şi să credem în Tine? Ce lucrare faci Tu?

They said to Him, “Can You show us some powerful work? Then we can see it and believe You. What will You do?

31 S trămoşii noştri au mâncat mană în pustie, aşa cum este scris: „Le-a dat să mănânce pâine din cer.“

Our early fathers ate bread that came from heaven in the desert. This happened as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’” Jesus Is the Bread of Life

32 A tunci Isus le-a zis: – Adevărat, adevărat vă spun că nu Moise v-a dat pâinea din cer, ci Tatăl Meu vă dă adevărata pâine din cer!

Then Jesus said to the people, “For sure, I tell you, it was not Moses who gave you bread from heaven. My Father gives you the true Bread from heaven.

33 C ăci pâinea lui Dumnezeu este Cel Care coboară din cer şi dă lumii viaţă.

The Bread of God is He Who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”

34 E i I-au zis: – Domnule, dă-ne întotdeauna această pâine!

They said to Him, “Sir, give us this Bread all the time.”

35 I sus le-a răspuns: – Eu sunt pâinea vieţii. Cel ce vine la Mine nu va flămânzi niciodată şi cel ce crede în Mine nu va înseta niciodată!

Jesus said to them, “I am the Bread of Life. He who comes to Me will never be hungry. He who puts his trust in Me will never be thirsty.

36 D ar v-am spus că M-aţi văzut, şi tot nu credeţi!

I said to you that you have seen Me and yet you do not put your trust in Me.

37 T ot ce-Mi dă Tatăl va ajunge la Mine, iar pe cel ce vine la Mine nu-l voi izgoni niciodată afară.

All whom My Father has given to Me will come to Me. I will never turn away anyone who comes to Me.

38 C ăci am coborât din cer nu ca să fac voia Mea, ci voia Celui Ce M-a trimis.

I came down from heaven. I did not come to do what I wanted to do. I came to do what My Father wanted Me to do. He is the One Who sent Me.

39 Ş i voia Celui Ce M-a trimis este să nu pierd nimic din tot ce Mi-a dat El, ci să-l învii în ziua de pe urmă.

“The Father sent Me. He did not want Me to lose any of all those He gave Me. He wants Me to raise them to life on the last day.

40 C ăci voia Tatălui Meu este ca oricine Îl vede pe Fiul şi crede în El să aibă viaţă veşnică, iar Eu Îl voi învia în ziua de pe urmă.

He wants everyone who sees the Son to put his trust in Him and have life that lasts forever. I will raise that one up on the last day.”

41 A tunci iudeii au început să murmure cu privire la El, pentru că spusese: „Eu sunt pâinea care a coborât din cer.“

The Jews talked among themselves against Him. They did not like it because He said, “I am the Bread that came down from heaven.”

42 E i ziceau: „Nu este Acesta Isus, fiul lui Iosif, pe ai Cărui tată şi mamă îi cunoaştem?! Aşadar, cum de spune acum: «Am coborât din cer»?!“

They asked each other, “Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph? We know His father and mother. How can He say, ‘I came down from heaven’ ?”

43 I sus le-a răspuns: „Nu murmuraţi între voi!

Jesus said to them, “Do not talk among yourselves against Me.

44 N imeni nu poate veni la Mine dacă nu-l atrage Tatăl Care M-a trimis. Iar Eu îl voi învia în ziua de pe urmă.

The Father sent Me. No man can come to Me unless the Father gives him the desire to come to Me. Then I will raise him to life on the last day.

45 E ste scris în Profeţi: «Toţi vor fi învăţaţi de Dumnezeu.» Oricine a auzit şi a învăţat de la Tatăl vine la Mine.

The early preachers wrote, ‘They will all be taught of God.’ Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from Him comes to Me.

46 N u că cineva L-a văzut pe Tatăl, în afară de Cel Care este de la Dumnezeu; El L-a văzut pe Tatăl.

No one has seen the Father. I am the only One Who has seen Him.

47 A devărat, adevărat vă spun că cel ce crede (în Mine) are viaţă veşnică.

For sure, I tell you, he who puts his trust in Me has life that lasts forever.

48 E u sunt pâinea vieţii.

I am the Bread of Life.

49 S trămoşii voştri au mâncat mană în pustie şi totuşi au murit.

Your early fathers ate bread that came from heaven in the desert. They died.

50 P âinea care coboară din cer este de aşa fel, ca cineva să mănânce din ea şi să nu moară.

But this is the Bread that comes down from heaven. The one who eats it never dies.

51 E u sunt pâinea vie care a coborât din cer. Dacă mănâncă cineva din pâinea aceasta va trăi în veac. Şi pâinea pe care o voi da Eu pentru viaţa lumii este trupul Meu.“

I am the Living Bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats this Bread, he will live forever. The Bread which I will give is My flesh. I will give this for the life of the world.”

52 A tunci iudeii au început să se certe unii cu alţii şi să zică: „Cum poate Acesta să ne dea să mâncăm trupul Lui?!“

The Jews argued among themselves, saying, “How can this Man give us His flesh to eat?”

53 D ar Isus le-a zis: „Adevărat, adevărat vă spun că, dacă nu mâncaţi trupul Fiului Omului şi nu beţi sângele Lui, nu aveţi viaţă în voi înşivă!

Jesus said to them, “For sure, I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you do not have life in you.

54 C el ce mănâncă trupul Meu şi bea sângele Meu are viaţă veşnică, iar Eu îl voi învia în ziua de pe urmă.

Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has life that lasts forever. I will raise him up on the last day.

55 C ăci trupul Meu este o adevărată hrană, iar sângele Meu este o adevărată băutură.

My flesh is true food and My blood is true drink.

56 C el ce mănâncă trupul Meu şi bea sângele Meu rămâne în Mine, iar Eu rămân în el.

Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood lives in Me and I live in him.

57 A şa cum Tatăl cel viu M-a trimis, iar Eu trăiesc datorită Tatălui, tot astfel şi cel ce Mă mănâncă pe Mine va trăi datorită Mie.

The living Father sent Me and I live because of Him. In the same way, the one who eats Me will live because of Me.

58 A ceasta este pâinea care a coborât din cer, nu ca aceea pe care au mâncat-o strămoşii voştri, care totuşi au murit: cel ce mănâncă această pâine va trăi în veac!“

I am this Bread that came down from heaven. It is not like the bread that your early fathers ate and they died. Whoever eats this Bread will live forever.”

59 A ceste lucruri le-a spus în timp ce dădea învăţătură în sinagogă, în Capernaum. Mulţi ucenici Îl părăsesc pe Isus

Jesus said these things in the Jewish place of worship while He was teaching in the city of Capernaum. The Troubled Followers Leave Jesus

60 A uzind acestea, mulţi din ucenicii Lui au zis: „Vorbirea aceasta este prea de tot! Cine poate s-o asculte?!“

After hearing this, many of His followers said, “This teaching is too hard! Who can listen to it?”

61 D ar Isus, ştiind în Sine Însuşi că ucenicii Lui murmurau cu privire la aceasta, le-a zis: „ Vorbirea aceasta vă face să vă poticniţi?!

Jesus knew His followers talked against what He had said. He said to them, “Does this trouble you?

62 D ar dacă L-aţi vedea pe Fiul Omului înălţându-Se acolo unde era mai înainte?!

Then what would you say if you saw the Son of Man going up where He was before?

63 D uhul este Cel Ce dă viaţă; carnea nu foloseşte la nimic. Cuvintele pe care vi le-am spus sunt duh şi viaţă.

It is the Spirit that gives life. The flesh is of no help. The words I speak to you are spirit and life.

64 D ar sunt unii dintre voi care nu cred.“ Căci Isus ştia de la început cine sunt cei ce nu cred şi cine este cel ce urma să-L trădeze.

But some of you do not believe.” Jesus knew from the beginning who would not put their trust in Him. He knew who would hand Him over to the leaders of the country.

65 A poi a zis: „Tocmai de aceea v-am spus că nimeni nu poate să vină la Mine decât dacă i-a fost dat de către Tatăl.“

He said, “That is why I told you no one can come to Me unless the Father allows it.”

66 D in această cauză mulţi dintre ucenicii Lui s-au întors şi nu mai umblau cu El.

From that time on, many of His followers turned back to their old ways of living. They would not go along with Him after that. Peter Knows Who Jesus Is

67 A tunci Isus le-a zis celor doisprezece: – Nu vreţi să plecaţi şi voi?

Then Jesus said to the twelve followers, “Will you leave Me also?”

68 S imon Petru I-a răspuns: – Doamne, la cine să ne ducem?! Tu ai cuvintele vieţii veşnice,

Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, who else can we go to? You have words that give life that lasts forever.

69 i ar noi am ajuns să credem şi să ştim că Tu eşti Sfântul lui Dumnezeu!

We believe and know You are the Christ. You are the Son of the Living God.”

70 I sus le-a zis: – Nu v-am ales Eu pe voi, cei doisprezece? Şi totuşi unul dintre voi este un diavol.

Jesus said to them, “I chose you twelve as My followers. And one of you is a devil.”

71 V orbea despre Iuda, fiul lui Simon Iscarioteanul, pentru că acesta, deşi era unul dintre cei doisprezece, urma să-L trădeze.

He was speaking of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, who was one of the twelve followers. He was ready to hand Jesus over to the leaders of the country.
