1 Z edechia era în vârstă de douăzeci şi unu de ani când a devenit rege şi a domnit la Ierusalim timp de unsprezece ani. Mama sa se numea Hamutal şi era fiica lui Ieremia din Libna.

Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he ruled for eleven years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Hamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.

2 E l a făcut ce este rău înaintea Domnului, tot aşa cum făcuse şi Iehoiachim.

Zedekiah did what was sinful in the eyes of the Lord, like all that Jehoiakim had done.

3 D in pricina mâniei Domnului s-au întâmplat aceste lucruri în Ierusalim şi în Iuda, pe care, în cele din urmă, le-a izgonit din prezenţa Sa. Zedechia s-a răsculat împotriva împăratului Babilonului.

The Lord became so angry with Jerusalem and Judah that He had them sent away from Him. And Zedekiah turned against the king of Babylon.

4 Î n al nouălea an al domniei lui Zedechia, în a zecea zi a lunii a zecea, Nebucadneţar, împăratul Babilonului a înaintat împotriva Ierusalimului cu toată oştirea sa. Ei şi-au aşezat tabăra înaintea cetăţii şi au zidit întărituri de jur împrejurul ei.

On the tenth day of the tenth month in the ninth year of his rule, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon came with all his army to fight against Jerusalem. His soldiers gathered outside the city and built a battle-wall all around it.

5 C etatea a fost în stare de asediu până în cel de-al unsprezecelea an al domniei regelui Zedechia.

So the city was shut in by the army of the Babylonians until the eleventh year of King Zedekiah.

6 Î n ziua a noua a lunii a patra, foametea din cetate a devenit atât de mare, încât poporul ţării nu mai avea nimic de mâncare.

On the ninth day of the fourth month, the hunger became very bad in the city. There was no food for the people of the land.

7 A tunci s-a pătruns în cetate, astfel că toţi ostaşii au fugit. Ei au ieşit din cetate noaptea, pe drumul porţii dintre cele două ziduri, de lângă grădina regelui, în timp ce caldeenii înconjurau cetatea. Ei au luat-o pe drumul spre Araba,

Then the city was broken into, and all the men of war ran away. They left the city at night by way of the gate between the two walls, by the king’s garden, while the Babylonians were all around the city. They went by way of the Arabah.

8 î nsă oştirea caldeenilor l-a urmărit pe regele Zedechia şi l-a ajuns în câmpiile Ierihonului. Toată oştirea lui se împrăştiase de lângă el.

But the Babylonian army went after King Zedekiah and came to him in the plains of Jericho, and all his army was divided and ran away from him.

9 E i l-au capturat pe rege şi l-au dus la împăratul Babilonului, la Ribla, în ţara Hamatului. Acesta a rostit o sentinţă împotriva lui.

They took the king and brought him up to the king of Babylon at Riblah in the land of Hamath. And he decided what Zedekiah’s punishment would be.

10 A colo, la Ribla, împăratul Babilonului i-a înjunghiat pe fiii lui Zedechia înaintea ochilor lui. De asemenea i-a înjunghiat şi pe toţi conducătorii lui Iuda.

The king of Babylon killed the sons of Zedekiah in front of his eyes. He killed all the leaders of Judah in Riblah.

11 A poi împăratul Babilonului i-a scos ochii lui Zedechia, l-a legat cu lanţuri de bronz şi l-a dus în Babilon, unde a stat în temniţă până în ziua morţii lui.

Then he put out Zedekiah’s eyes, put him in chains of brass, and took him to Babylon. There he was put in prison until the day of his death. The House of God Destroyed

12 Î n ziua a zecea a lunii a cincea, în al nouăsprezecelea an al domniei împăratului Nebucadneţar, împăratul Babilonului, Nebuzaradan, căpetenia gărzilor, care era în slujba împăratului Babilonului, a pătruns în Ierusalim.

On the tenth day of the fifth month in the nineteenth year of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, Nebuzaradan came to Jerusalem. Nebuzaradan was the captain of the prison soldiers and served the king of Babylon.

13 E l a dat foc Casei Domnului, palatului regelui şi tuturor caselor din Ierusalim. A dat foc tuturor caselor mari.

And he burned the house of the Lord, the king’s house, and all the houses of Jerusalem. He burned down every great house.

14 T oată oştirea caldeenilor, care era împreună cu căpetenia gărzilor, a dărâmat toate zidurile din jurul Ierusalimului.

The whole Babylonian army that was with the captain of the prison soldiers broke down all the walls around Jerusalem.

15 N ebuzaradan, căpetenia gărzilor, a dus în captivitate o parte din cei mai săraci oameni, poporul care mai rămăsese în cetate, dezertorii care fugiseră la împăratul Babilonului şi restul mulţimii.

Then Nebuzaradan, captain of the prison soldiers, carried away to Babylon some of the poorest of the people, the rest of the people who were left in the city, those who had joined the king of Babylon, and the rest of the able workmen.

16 T otuşi Nebuzaradan, căpetenia gărzilor, a lăsat în ţară câţiva oameni săraci ca să lucreze viile şi câmpurile.

But Nebuzaradan left some of the poorest people of the land to take care of the vines and fields.

17 C aldeenii au sfărâmat stâlpii de bronz care erau în Casa Domnului, precum şi piedestalele şi „marea“ de bronz care erau în Casa Domnului şi au dus tot bronzul la Babilon.

The Babylonians broke in pieces the brass pillars which belonged to the house of the Lord, and the stands and the brass pool which were in the Lord’s house. And they carried all the brass to Babylon.

18 A u luat vasele, lopeţile, mucarniţele, potirele, farfuriile şi toate uneltele de bronz cu care se făcea slujba.

They also took away the pots, the tools, the objects for putting out the lamps, the washing pots, the dishes for special perfume, and all the brass objects used in the work of the Lord’s house.

19 C ăpetenia gărzilor a mai luat şi lighenele, cădelniţele, cupele, oalele, sfeşnicele, lingurile şi cupele folosite la jertfele de băutură – tot ce era de aur sau de argint.

The captain of the prison soldiers also took away the deep dishes, the fire holders, the washing pots, the other pots, the lamp-stands, the dishes for special perfume, and the dishes for drink gifts, that were made of fine gold and fine silver.

20 C ei doi stâlpi, marea, cei doisprezece boi de bronz care erau sub mare şi piedestalele, toate aceste unelte de bronz pe care le făcuse regele Solomon pentru Casa Domnului, aveau o greutate care nu se putea cântări.

He took the two pillars, the brass pool, the twelve brass bulls that were under the pool, and the stands, which King Solomon had made for the house of the Lord. The brass of all these objects was too heavy to weigh.

21 Î n ce priveşte stâlpii, fiecare stâlp era înalt de optsprezece coţi, avea circumferinţa de doisprezece coţi, grosimea de patru degete şi era gol pe dinăuntru.

Each pillar was five times taller than a man, as long around as six long steps, as wide as four fingers, and empty inside.

22 F iecare avea deasupra un capitel de bronz. Înălţimea unui capitel era de cinci coţi, capitelul având de jur împrejur o reţea şi rodii, toate din bronz. Al doilea stâlp, cu rodiile lui, era la fel.

Its top part was brass and as tall as a man can raise his hand, with a network and pomegranates all around the top part, all made of brass. The second pillar with its pomegranates was the same.

23 E rau nouăzeci şi şase de rodii pe fiecare parte; toate rodiile aflate de jur împrejurul reţelei erau în număr de o sută.

There were ninety-six pomegranates on the sides. There were one hundred pomegranates on the network all around. The People Taken to Babylon

24 C ăpetenia gărzilor i-a luat prizonieri pe Seraia, preotul conducător, pe Ţefania, următorul preot în rang şi pe cei trei paznici ai porţii.

Then the captain of the prison soldiers took Seraiah, the head religious leader, and Zephaniah, the second religious leader, and the three door keepers of the Lord’s house.

25 D in cetate a luat un ofiţer care avea în subordine ostaşi şi încă şapte oameni dintre sfetnicii regelui, care, de asemenea, fuseseră găsiţi în cetate; l-a mai luat pe scribul conducătorului oştirii, care recruta bărbaţi din poporul ţării, şi pe încă şaizeci de bărbaţi din poporul ţării, care fuseseră găsiţi tot în cetate.

He also took from the city one captain who had been over the men of war, and seven of the king’s wise men who were found in the city. He took the writer who worked for the captain of the army, who called together the people of the land. And he took sixty men of the land who were found in the city.

26 N ebuzaradan, căpetenia gărzilor, i-a luat şi i-a dus la împăratul Babilonului, la Ribla.

Nebuzaradan the captain of the prison soldiers took them and brought them to the king of Babylon at Riblah,

27 A colo, la Ribla, în ţara Hamat, împăratul Babilonului a pus să fie omorâţi. Astfel a fost dus Iuda în captivitate, departe de ţara lui.

and the king of Babylon killed them. He put them to death at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah was led out of its land in chains.

28 I ată numărul celor din popor duşi de Nebucadneţar în captivitate: în al şaptelea an: trei mii douăzeci şi trei de iudei;

These are the people whom Nebuchadnezzar carried away to Babylon: In the seventh year he took 3, 023 Jews.

29 î n al optsprezecelea an al domniei lui Nebucadneţar, a dus în captivitate din Ierusalim opt sute treizeci şi doi de oameni;

In the eighteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar he took 832 people from Jerusalem.

30 i ar în al douăzeci şi treilea an al domniei lui Nebucadneţar, Nebuzaradan, căpetenia gărzilor, a mai dus în captivitate şapte sute patruzeci şi cinci de iudei. În total, au fost duşi în captivitate patru mii şase sute de oameni. Bunătatea lui Evil-Merodak

In the twenty-third year of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuzaradan the captain of the prison soldiers took away 745 Jews. There were 4, 600 people taken away in all.

31 Î n al treizeci şi şaptelea an de captivitate al lui Iehoiachin, regele lui Iuda, în a douăzeci şi cincea zi a lunii a douăsprezecea, Evil-Merodak, împăratul Babilonului, în cel dintâi an al domniei lui, l-a eliberat din temniţă pe Iehoiachin, regele lui Iuda.

On the twenty-fifth day of the twelfth month in the thirty-seventh year since King Jehoiachin of Judah was taken away to Babylon, Evilmerodach king of Babylon showed favor to Jehoiachin king of Judah. It was the first year of his rule, and he brought Jehoiachin out of prison.

32 I -a vorbit cu bunătate şi i-a dat un loc de cinste mai presus decât cel al regilor care erau cu el în Babilon.

He spoke to him with kindness, and gave him a seat of honor higher than the other kings who were with him in Babylon.

33 I ehoiachin şi-a schimbat hainele de întemniţat şi pentru tot restul vieţii sale a mâncat la masa împăratului.

So Jehoiachin changed from his prison clothes, and ate with the king every day for the rest of his life.

34 Î mpăratul Babilonului s-a îngrijit necurmat de hrana zilnică a lui Iehoiachin în toate zilele vieţii lui, până în ziua morţii acestuia.

And a share of money was given to him by the king of Babylon every day as long as he lived, until the day of his death.
