4 S pune înţelepciunii: „Tu eşti sora mea!“ şi numeşte priceperea rudenia ta,

Say to wisdom, “You are my sister.” Call understanding your special friend.

5 c a să te protejeze de femeia adulteră, de cuvintele ademenitoare ale unei străine.

They will keep you from the strange woman, from the stranger with her smooth words.

6 D e la fereastra casei mele priveam printre zăbrele.

For I looked out through the wood-work at the window of my house.

7 A m văzut printre cei neîncercaţi, am remarcat printre tineri un băiat fără minte:

And I saw among the child-like and among the young people a young man without wisdom and understanding.

8 t recea pe strada din apropierea colţului ei şi a păşit pe calea spre locuinţa ei.

10 A tunci l-a întâlnit o femeie îmbrăcată ca o prostituată şi cu inima şireată.

11 E ra gălăgioasă şi răzvrătită; picioarele nu-i stăteau acasă:

17 m i-am înmiresmat patul cu smirnă, aloe şi scorţişoară.

I have perfumed my bed with fine perfumes and spices.

18 V ino să ne îmbătăm de dragoste până dimineaţă, să ne desfătăm în dragoste!

Come, let us take our fill of love until morning. Let us make ourselves happy with love.

19 C ăci bărbatul nu este în casa lui, a plecat într-o călătorie lungă.

26 c ăci mulţi sunt cei înjunghiaţi pe care ea i-a făcut să cadă, şi numeroşi sunt toţi cei ucişi de ea.

For she has hurt many and destroyed many others. She has killed a great number.

27 C asa ei este pe calea spre Locuinţa Morţilor, coborând spre odăile morţii.

Her house is the way to hell, going down to the rooms of death.
