Sing for joy to God our strength! Call out for joy to the God of Jacob!

2 Î nălţaţi un cântec, sunaţi din tamburine, din lira cea plăcută şi din harfă.

Sing a song, beat the timbrel. Play the sweet-sounding harps.

3 S uflaţi din corn la lună nouă, la lună plină, în ziua sărbătorii.

Blow the horn at the new moon, at the full moon on the day of our special supper.

4 A ceasta este porunca dată lui Israel, hotărârea Dumnezeului lui Iacov.

For this is a Law for Israel, a Law of the God of Jacob.

5 M ărturia aceasta i-a dat-o lui Iosif, când a mers împotriva ţării Egiptului; acolo am auzit o limbă pe care n-o cunoşteam:

He made it a Law for Joseph, when he went through the land of Egypt. I heard a language that I did not know:

6 „ I-am luat povara de pe umăr, mâinile lui nu mai ţin coşul.

“I took the load off his shoulders. His hands were set free from the basket.

7 L a necaz ai strigat, iar Eu te-am scăpat; ţi-am răspuns de lângă locul tainic al tunetului, te-am încercat la apele Meriba. Sela

You called in your trouble, and I took you out of it. I answered you in the hiding place of thunder. I tested you at the waters of Meribah.

8 A scultă, poporul Meu, şi te voi sfătui! O, Israele, de M-ai asculta!

Hear, O My people, and I will tell you what to do. O Israel, if you would listen to Me!

9 S ă nu se găsească la tine nici un dumnezeu străin! Să nu te închini nici unui zeu!

Let there be no strange god among you. Do not worship any false god.

10 E u sunt Domnul, Dumnezeul tău! Eu te-am adus din ţara Egiptului! Deschide-ţi gura şi ţi-o voi umple!“

I, the Lord, am your God. I brought you out of the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide and I will fill it.

11 D ar poporul Meu nu Mi-a ascultat glasul, Israel nu M-a urmat.

“But My people did not listen to My voice. And Israel did not obey Me.

12 A tunci l-am lăsat în voia inimii lui încăpăţânate şi a trăit după propriile lui sfaturi.

So I let them follow the desires of their sinful hearts. They followed their own plans.

13 „ O, de M-ar asculta poporul Meu! O, de ar umbla Israel pe căile Mele!

If only My people would listen to Me! If only Israel would follow My ways!

14 A tunci i-aş supune pe duşmanii săi într-o clipă şi Mi-aş întoarce mâna împotriva potrivnicilor săi.“

I would hurry to crush those who fight against them. I would turn My hand against those who hate them.

15 C ei ce-L urăsc pe Domnul ar da înapoi în faţa Lui, iar soarta le- ar fi pecetluită pe vecie.

Those who hate the Lord would pretend to obey Him. And their punishment would last forever.

16 P e Israel însă l-ar hrăni cu grâul cel mai bun... „Chiar cu miere din stâncă te-aş sătura!“, zice Dumnezeu.

But I would feed you with the best of grain. And I would fill you with honey from the rock.”
