Sing for joy to God our strength! Call out for joy to the God of Jacob!

2 C întaţi o cîntare, sunaţi din tobă, din arfa cea plăcută şi din alăută!

Sing a song, beat the timbrel. Play the sweet-sounding harps.

3 S unaţi din trîmbiţă la luna nouă, la luna plină, în ziua sărbătorii noastre!

Blow the horn at the new moon, at the full moon on the day of our special supper.

4 C ăci aceasta este o lege pentru Israel, o poruncă a Dumnezeului lui Iacov.

For this is a Law for Israel, a Law of the God of Jacob.

5 E l a rînduit sărbătoarea aceasta pentru Iosif, cînd a mers împotriva ţării Egiptului... Atunci am auzit un glas, pe care nu l-am cunoscut: -

He made it a Law for Joseph, when he went through the land of Egypt. I heard a language that I did not know:

6 I -am descărcat povara de pe umăr, şi mînile lui nu mai ţin coşul.

“I took the load off his shoulders. His hands were set free from the basket.

7 A i strigat în necaz, şi te-am izbăvit; ţi-am răspuns în locul tainic al tunetului, şi te-am încercat la apele Meriba. -

You called in your trouble, and I took you out of it. I answered you in the hiding place of thunder. I tested you at the waters of Meribah.

8 A scultă, poporul Meu, şi te voi sfătui, Israele, de M'ai asculta!

Hear, O My people, and I will tell you what to do. O Israel, if you would listen to Me!

9 N iciun dumnezeu străin să nu fie în mijlocul tău, şi să nu te închini înaintea dumnezeilor străini!

Let there be no strange god among you. Do not worship any false god.

10 E u sînt Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, care te-am scos din ţara Egiptului; deschide-ţi gura larg, şi ţi -o voi umplea!``

I, the Lord, am your God. I brought you out of the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide and I will fill it.

11 D ar poporul Meu n'a ascultat glasul Meu, Israel nu M'a ascultat.

“But My people did not listen to My voice. And Israel did not obey Me.

12 A tunci i-am lăsat în voia pornirilor inimii lor, şi au urmat sfaturile lor.

So I let them follow the desires of their sinful hearts. They followed their own plans.

13 O ! de M'ar asculta poporul Meu, de ar umbla Israel în căile Mele!

If only My people would listen to Me! If only Israel would follow My ways!

14 Î ntr'o clipă aş înfrunta pe vrăjmaşii lor, Mi-aş întoarce mîna împotriva protivnicilor lor;

I would hurry to crush those who fight against them. I would turn My hand against those who hate them.

15 c eice urăsc pe Domnul l-ar linguşi, şi fericirea lui Israel ar dăinui în veci.

Those who hate the Lord would pretend to obey Him. And their punishment would last forever.

16 L -aş hrăni cu cel mai bun grîu, şi l-aş sătura cu miere din stîncă.

But I would feed you with the best of grain. And I would fill you with honey from the rock.”
