1 Î n anul al nouălea, în ziua a zecea a lunii a zecea, Cuvîntul Domnului mi -a vorbit astfel:

The Word of the Lord came to me on the tenth day of the tenth month in the ninth year, saying,

2 F iul omului, scrie numele zilei acesteia, numele zilei de azi! Căci chiar în ziua aceasta se apropie împăratul Babilonului de Ierusalim.

“Son of man, put down in writing this day, this very day. The king of Babylon has shut Jerusalem in with his army this very day.

3 S pune o pildă acestei case de îndărătnici, şi zi-le:,, Aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeu:,, Pune, pune cazanul, şi toarnă apă în el!

And tell a picture-story to these sinful people of Israel. Tell them, ‘The Lord God says, “Put the pot on the fire. Put it on, and pour water in it.

4 P une bucăţi de carne în el, toate bucăţile cele bune, coapsa şi spata, şi umple -l cu cele mai bune oase.

Put all the good pieces of meat in it, the thigh, the shoulder. And fill it with the best bones.

5 A lege ce e mai bun din turmă, şi pune lemnele grămadă supt cazan; fă -l să fiarbă în clocot mare, şi să fiarbă şi oasele din el``.

Take the best of the flock. Put more and more wood under the pot to make it boil, and boil the bones in it.”

6 D e aceea, aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeu:,, Vai de cetatea cea setoasă de sînge, cazanul cel plin de rugină, şi de pe care nu se ia rugina! Scoateţi bucăţile din el unele după altele, fără să trageţi la sorţi.

’For the Lord God says, “It is bad for the city of blood, for the rusted pot whose rust has not been cleaned out of it! Take the pieces of meat out of it without choosing them.

7 C ăci sîngele pe care l -a vărsat ea este încă în mijlocul ei. L -a pus pe stînca goală, nu l -a vărsat pe pămînt, ca să -l acopere apoi cu ţărînă.

For the blood of the city has been poured on the rock. It was not poured on the ground where the dust would cover it.

8 C a să-Mi arăt urgia, ca să Mă răzbun, i-am vărsat sîngele pe stînca goală, pentruca să nu fie acoperit.

I have put the blood on the rock where it could not be covered, so that it would cause anger and punishment.”

9 D e aceea, aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeu:,, Vai de cetatea cea setoasă de sînge! Vreau să fac un rug mare!

So the Lord God says, “It is bad for the city of blood! I will put much wood on the fire.

10 Î ngrămădeşte multe lemne, aprinde focul, fierbe bine carnea, fă fertura groasă, ca să se ardă şi ciolanele.

Put on more and more wood, and make the fire burn. Boil the meat well. Mix in the spices, and let the bones be burned up.

11 A poi pune cazanul gol pe jăratic, ca să se încălzească, să i se înferbînte arama, să i se topească murdăria din lăuntru, şi să i se şteargă rugina.

Now set the empty pot on the coals until it becomes hot and its brass becomes bright with the heat. Then what is not clean in it will melt away. Its rust will be destroyed.

12 T rudă de geaba! Căci rugina de care este plin nu se deslipeşte de el; rugina nu se va lua de pe el de cît prin foc,

But it has been all for nothing. Its rust has not left it, not even by fire.

13 ş i tu doreşti iarăş nelegiuire în spurcăciunea ta! Pentrucă am vrut să te curăţ şi nu te-ai făcut curată, nu vei mai fi curăţită de spurcăciunea ta pînă Îmi voi potoli mînia asupra ta.

It is sin that makes you unclean. I have tried to make you clean, but you would not be made clean from your sins. So you will not be clean again until My anger against you is finished.

14 E u, Domnul, am vorbit! Lucrul acesta se va întîmpla, şi Eu îl voi împlini! Nu Mă voi lăsa, nu voi avea milă, nici nu Mă voi căi. Vei fi judecată după puterea ta şi după faptele tale, zice Domnul, Dumnezeu.``

I, the Lord, have spoken. The time has come for Me to act. I will not hold back, I will not pity, and I will not be sorry. I will punish you for your ways and for what you have done,” says the Lord God.’” Ezekiel’s Wife Dies

15 C uvîntul Domnului mi -a vorbit astfel:

The Word of the Lord came to me saying,

16 F iul omului, iată, îţi voi răpi printr'o lovitură ce ţi -e mai scump în ochi. Dar să nu te jăleşti, nici să nu plîngi, şi să nu-ţi curgă lacrămile pentru ea.

“Son of man, with one blow I am about to take away from you the desire of your eyes. But do not have sorrow or loud crying or any tears.

17 S uspină în tăcere, dar nu plînge ca la morţi! Leagă-ţi turbanul, pune-ţi încălţămintea în picioare, nu-ţi acoperi barba, şi nu mînca pînea de jale!``

Cry inside yourself. Do not show sorrow for the dead. Put your head-covering on. Put your shoes on your feet. Do not cover your face or eat the bread of those in sorrow.”

18 V orbisem poporului dimineaţa, şi seara mi -a murit nevasta. A doua zi dimineaţa, am făcut cum mi se poruncise.

So I spoke to the people in the morning, and in the evening my wife died. The next morning I did as I was told.

19 P oporul mi -a zis:,, Nu vrei să ne lămureşti ce înseamnă pentru noi ceeace faci?``

And the people said to me, “Will you not tell us what these things you are doing mean for us?”

20 E u le-am răspuns:,, Cuvîntul Domnului mi -a vorbit, astfel:

So I said to them, “The Word of the Lord came to me saying,

21 S pune casei lui Israel:,, Aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeu: Iată, voi pîngări Locaşul Meu cel sfînt, fala puterii voastre, ce vă e mai scump în ochi, lucrul iubit de voi; şi fiii voştri şi fiicele voastre, pe cari i-aţi lăsat după voi, vor cădea ucişi de sabie.

’Tell the people of Israel, “The Lord God says, ‘I am about to let sin fill My holy place, the pride of your power, the desire of your eyes, and the happiness of your soul. And your sons and daughters you have left behind will be killed by the sword.

22 Ş i atunci veţi face cum am făcut şi eu. Nu vă veţi acoperi barba şi nu veţi mînca pînea de jale,

Then you will do as I have done. You will not cover your face or eat the bread of those in sorrow.

23 v eţi sta cu turbane pe cap şi cu încălţămintea în picioare, nu vă veţi jăli şi nici nu veţi plînge; ci veţi tînji pentru nelegiuirile voastre, şi vă veţi văita între voi.

Your heads will be covered and your shoes will be on your feet. You will not have sorrow or cry. But you will waste away in your sins and cry in pain to one another.

24 E zechiel va fi un semn pentru voi. Veţi face întocmai cum a făcut el. Şi cînd se vor întîmpla aceste lucruri, veţi şti că Eu sînt Domnul, Dumnezeu.

So Ezekiel will be something special for you to see. You will do just as he has done. When this happens, you will know that I am the Lord God.’”

25 T u, însă, fiul omului, în ziua cînd le voi răpi ceeace face tăria lor, bucuria şi fala lor, ce le este scump ochilor şi lucrul iubit de ei, pe fiii şi fiicele lor,

‘Son of man, I will take away their strong-place that was their joy and pride, the desire of their eyes and the things their hearts wanted most. And I will take away their sons and their daughters.

26 î n ziua aceea, va veni un fugar la tine, ca să-ţi dea de ştire şi să auzi cu urechile tale.

On that day, one who gets away will come to you with the news.

27 Î n ziua aceea, ţi se va deschide gura odată cu a fugarului, vei vorbi, şi nu vei mai fi mut. Vei fi un semn pentru ei, şi vor şti că Eu sînt Domnul.``

That same day your mouth will be opened. You will speak with him and no longer be quiet. So you will be something special for them to see, and they will know that I am the Lord.’”
