1 Î mpăratul Solomon a iubit multe femei străine, afară de fata lui Faraon; Moabite, Amonite, Edomite, Sidoniene, Hetite,

Now King Solomon loved many women from other nations. He loved the daughter of Pharaoh, and Moabite, Ammonite, Edomite, Sidonian and Hittite women.

2 c ari făceau parte din neamurile despre cari Domnul zisese copiilor lui Israel:,, Să nu intraţi la ele, şi nici ele să nu intre la voi; căci v'ar întoarce negreşit inimile înspre dumnezeii lor.`` De aceste neamuri s'a alipit Solomon, tîrît de iubire.

They were from the nations about which the Lord had said to the people of Israel, “Do not take wives from them. And do not have them take wives from you. For they will be sure to turn your heart away to follow their gods.” But Solomon held on to these women in love.

3 A avut de neveste şapte sute de crăiese împărăteşti şi trei sute de ţiitoare; şi nevestele i-au abătut inima.

He had 700 wives, kings’ daughters, and 300 women who acted as his wives. And his wives turned his heart away.

4 C înd a îmbătrînit Solomon, nevestele i-au plecat inima spre alţi dumnezei; şi inima nu i -a fost în totul a Domnului, Dumnezeului său, cum fusese inima tatălui său David.

When Solomon was old, his wives turned his heart away to follow other gods. His whole heart was not faithful to the Lord his God, as the heart of his father David had been.

5 S olomon s'a dus după Astartea, zeiţa Sidonienilor, şi după Milcom, urîciunea Amoniţilor.

For Solomon followed Ashtoreth the false goddess of the Sidonians, and Milcom the hated god of the Ammonites.

6 Ş i Solomon a făcut ce este rău înaintea Domnului, şi n'a urmat în totul pe Domnul, ca tatăl său David.

Solomon did what was sinful in the eyes of the Lord. He did not follow the Lord with all his heart, as his father David had done.

7 A tunci Solomon a zidit pe muntele din faţa Ierusalimului un loc înalt pentru Chemoş, urîciunea Moabului, pentru Moloc, urîciunea fiilor lui Amon.

Then Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the hated god of Moab, and for Molech the hated god of the sons of Ammon, on the mountain east of Jerusalem.

8 A şa a făcut pentru toate nevestele lui străine, cari aduceau tămîie şi jertfe dumnezeilor lor.

He did the same for all his wives from other nations, who burned special perfume and gave gifts to their gods.

9 D omnul S'a mîniat pe Solomon, pentrucă îşi abătuse inima dela Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel, care i Se arătase de două ori.

Now the Lord was angry with Solomon, because Solomon’s heart had turned away from the Lord, the God of Israel. The Lord had come to him twice

10 Î n privinţa aceasta îi spusese să nu meargă după alţi dumnezei; dar Solomon n'a păzit poruncile Domnului.

and had told him about this, that he should not follow other gods. But Solomon did not obey what the Lord had told him.

11 Ş i Domnul a zis lui Solomon:,, Fiindcă ai făcut aşa, şi n'ai păzit legămîntul Meu şi legile Mele pe cari ţi le-am dat, voi rupe împărăţia dela tine şi o voi da slujitorului tău.

So the Lord said to Solomon, “Because you have done this and have not kept My agreement and My Laws which I told you, for sure I will tear the nation from you and will give it to your servant.

12 N umai, nu voi face lucrul acesta în timpul vieţii tale, pentru tatăl tău David. Ci din mîna fiului tău o voi rupe.

But I will not do it while you are alive, because of your father David. I will tear it out of the hand of your son.

13 N u voi rupe însă toată împărăţia; voi lăsa o seminţie fiului tău, din pricina robului Meu David, şi din pricina Ierusalimului, pe care l-am ales.

But I will not tear away all the nation. I will give one family group to your son because of My servant David, and because of Jerusalem which I have chosen.” Solomon’s Trouble

14 D omnul a ridicat un vrăjmaş lui Solomon: pe Hadad, Edomitul, din neamul împărătesc al Edomului.

Then the Lord sent Hadad the Edomite to make trouble for Solomon. He was of the king’s family in Edom.

15 P e vremea cînd a bătut David Edomul, Ioab, căpetenia oştirii, suindu-se să îngroape morţii, a ucis toată partea bărbătească din Edom;

For when David was in Edom, and Joab the captain of the army had gone up to bury the dead, he killed every male in Edom.

16 a rămas acolo şase luni cu tot Israelul, pînă ce a nimicit toată partea bărbătească.

(For Joab and all Israel stayed there six months, until he had killed every male in Edom.)

17 A tunci Hadad a fugit cu nişte Edomiţi, slujitori ai tatălui său, şi s'a dus în Egipt. Hadad era încă un băiat pe atunci.

But Hadad ran away to Egypt, together with certain Edomites of his father’s servants, while Hadad was still a young boy.

18 P lecînd din Madian, s'au dus la Paran, au luat cu ei nişte oameni din Paran, şi au ajuns în Egipt la Faraon, împăratul Egiptului. Faraon a dat o casă lui Hadad, i -a purtat grijă de mîncare, şi i -a dat moşii.

They came from Midian to Paran. Then they took men with them from Paran and came to Egypt, to Pharaoh king of Egypt. Pharaoh gave Hadad a house and food and land.

19 H adad a căpătat trecere înaintea lui Faraon, pînă acolo încît Faraon i -a dat de nevastă pe sora nevestei lui, sora împărătesei Tahpenes.

Now Hadad found much favor in the eyes of Pharaoh. So Pharaoh gave him in marriage the sister of his own wife, the sister of Tahpenes the queen.

20 S ora Tahpenei i -a născut pe fiul său Ghenubat. Tahpenes l -a înţercat în casa lui Faraon; şi Ghenubat a fost în casa lui Faraon, în mijlocul copiilor lui Faraon.

Tahpenes’ sister gave birth to his son Genubath, whom Tahpenes took care of in Pharaoh’s house. Genubath was in Pharaoh’s house among the sons of Pharaoh.

21 C înd a auzit Hadad în Egipt că David a adormit cu părinţii lui, şi că Ioab, căpetenia oştirii, murise, a zis lui Faraon:,, Lasă-mă să mă duc în ţara mea.``

But Hadad heard in Egypt that David and Joab the captain of David’s army were dead. So Hadad said to Pharaoh, “Send me away, so I may return to my own country.”

22 Ş i Faraon i -a zis:,, Ce-ţi lipseşte la mine, de doreşti să te duci în ţara ta?`` El a răspuns:,, Nimic, dar lasă-mă să plec.``

Pharaoh said to him, “But what have you been without while you stayed with me? Why do you want to go to your own country?” Hadad answered, “Nothing. But even so, let me go.”

23 D umnezeu a ridicat un alt vrăjmaş lui Solomon: pe Rezon, fiul lui Eliada, care fugise dela stăpînul său Hadadezer, împăratul din Ţoba.

God sent Rezon the son of Eliada against Solomon also. Rezon had run away from his owner Hadadezer king of Zobah.

24 E l strînsese nişte oameni la el, şi se făcuse capul cetei, cînd a măcelărit David oştile stăpînului său. S'au dus la Damasc, şi s'au aşezat acolo şi au domnit la Damasc.

He gathered men around him and became the leader of a group of fighters, after David killed the men of Zobah. They went to Damascus and stayed there. Rezon was made king in Damascus.

25 E l a fost un vrăjmaş al lui Israel în tot timpul vieţii lui Solomon, în acelaşi timp cînd îi făcea rău Hadad, şi ura pe Israel. El a împărăţit peste Siria.

So he brought trouble to Israel all the days of Solomon, together with the trouble brought by Hadad. He hated Israel and ruled over Syria. Jeroboam Works against the King

26 Ş i Ieroboam, slujitorul lui Solomon, a ridicat mîna împotriva împăratului. El era fiul lui Nebat, Efratit din Ţereda, şi avea ca mamă pe o văduvă numită Ţerua.

Then Jeroboam the son of Nebat turned against the king. Jeroboam was Solomon’s servant, an Ephraimite of Zeredah. His mother’s name was Zeruah, a woman whose husband had died.

27 I ată cu ce prilej a ridicat el mîna împotriva împăratului. Solomon zidea Milo, şi închidea spărturile cetăţii tatălui său David.

Now this is the reason he turned against the king. Solomon built the Millo, and built a stronger wall around the city of his father David.

28 I eroboam era tare şi viteaz; şi Solomon, văzînd pe tînărul acesta la lucru, i -a dat privigherea peste toţi oamenii de corvoadă din casa lui Iosif.

Now Jeroboam was a powerful soldier. When Solomon saw that the young man was a good worker, he chose him to rule over all men of the family of Joseph who were made to work.

29 Î n vremea aceea, Ieroboam, ieşind din Ierusalim, a fost întîlnit pe drum de proorocul Ahia din Silo, îmbrăcat cu o haină nouă. Erau amîndoi singuri pe cîmp.

When Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, the man who spoke for God Ahijah the Shilonite found him on the road. Ahijah had dressed himself with a new coat, and both of them were alone in the field.

30 A hia a apucat haina nouă pe care o avea pe el, a rupt -o în douăsprezece bucăţi,

Then Ahijah took hold of his new coat and tore it into twelve pieces.

31 ş i a zis lui Ieroboam:,, Ia-ţi zece bucăţi! Căci aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel:, Iată, voi rupe împărăţia din mîna lui Solomon, şi-ţi voi da zece seminţii.

And he said to Jeroboam, “Take ten pieces for yourself. For the Lord, the God of Israel, says, ‘See, I will tear the nation out of the hand of Solomon and give you ten family groups.

32 D ar el va avea o seminţie, din pricina robului Meu David, şi din pricina Ierusalimului, cetatea pe care am ales -o din toate seminţiile lui Israel.

(But he will have one family group, because of My servant David and because of Jerusalem, the city I have chosen from all the families of Israel.)

33 Ş i aceasta, pentrucă M'au părăsit, şi s'au închinat înaintea Astarteei, zeiţa Sidonienilor, înaintea lui Chemoş, dumnezeul Moabului, şi înaintea lui Milcom, dumnezeul fiilor lui Amon, şi pentrucă n'au umblat în căile Mele ca să facă ce este drept înaintea Mea, şi să păzească legile şi poruncile Mele, cum a făcut David, tatăl lui Solomon.

Because they have turned away from Me. They have worshiped Ashtoreth the false goddess of the Sidonians, Chemosh the god of Moab, and Milcom the god of the sons of Ammon. They have not walked in My ways, doing what is right in My eyes and keeping My Laws, as his father David did.

34 N u voi lua din mîna lui toată împărăţia, căci îl voi ţinea domn în tot timpul vieţii lui, pentru robul Meu David, pe care l-am ales, şi care a păzit poruncile şi legile Mele.

But I will not take the whole nation from him. I will make him ruler all the days of his life, because of My servant David whom I chose, who kept My Word and My Laws.

35 D ar voi lua împărăţia din mîna fiului său, şi-ţi voi da zece seminţii din ea;

But I will take the nation from his son, and will give to you ten family groups.

36 v oi lăsa o seminţie fiului său, pentruca robul Meu David să aibă totdeauna o lumină înaintea Mea la Ierusalim, cetatea pe care am ales -o să pun în ea Numele Meu.

I will give one family group to his son, that My servant David will have a lamp always before Me in Jerusalem, the city where I have chosen for Myself to put My name.

37 P e tine te voi lua, şi vei domni peste tot ce-ţi va dori sufletul, vei fi împăratul lui Israel.

And I will take you, and you will rule over whatever you want. You will be the king of Israel.

38 D acă vei asculta de tot ce-ţi voi porunci, dacă vei umbla în căile Mele, şi dacă vei face ce este drept înaintea Mea, păzind legile şi poruncile Mele, cum a făcut robul Meu David, voi fi cu tine, îţi voi zidi o casă trainică, aşa cum am zidit lui David, şi-ţi voi da ţie pe Israel.

Listen to all I tell you to do. Walk in My ways. Do what is right in My eyes by keeping My Word and My Laws, as My servant David did. If you do, then I will be with you and build you a house that will last, as I built for David. And I will give Israel to you.

39 V oi smeri prin aceasta sămînţa lui David, dar nu pentru totdeauna.``

I will bring trouble to the children of David for this, but not forever.’”

40 S olomon a căutat să omoare pe Ieroboam. Şi Ieroboam s'a sculat, şi a fugit în Egipt la Şişac, împăratul Egiptului; a locuit în Egipt pînă la moartea lui Solomon.

So Solomon tried to put Jeroboam to death. But Jeroboam got up and ran to Egypt, to Shishak king of Egypt. And he stayed in Egypt until Solomon died. The Death of Solomon

41 C elelalte fapte ale lui Solomon, tot ce a făcut el, şi înţelepciunea lui, nu sînt scrise oare în cartea faptelor lui Solomon?

Now the rest of the acts of Solomon and whatever he did, and his wisdom, are they not written in the Book of the Acts of Solomon?

42 S olomon a domnit patruzeci de ani la Ierusalim peste tot Israelul.

Solomon ruled in Jerusalem over all Israel forty years.

43 A poi Solomon a adormit cu părinţii lui, şi a fost îngropat în cetatea tatălui său David. În locul lui a domnit fiul său Roboam.

And Solomon died and was buried in the city of his father David. His son Rehoboam ruled in his place.
