1 Î n zilele acelea, fiindcă se strînsese din nou mult norod, şi n'avea ce mînca, Isus a chemat pe ucenicii Săi, şi le -a zis:

In those days many people were gathered together. They had nothing to eat. Jesus called His followers to Him and said,

2 M i -e milă de norodul acesta; căci iată că de trei zile stau lîngă Mine, şi n'au ce mînca.

“I pity these people because they have been with Me three days and have nothing to eat.

3 D acă le voi da drumul acasă flămînzi, au să leşine de foame pe drum, fiindcă unii din ei au venit de departe.``

If I send them home without food, they may be too weak as they go. Many of them have come a long way.”

4 U cenicii I-au răspuns:,, Cum ar putea cineva să sature cu pîne pe oamenii aceştia, aici într'un loc pustiu?``

His followers said to Him, “Where can anyone get enough bread for them here in this desert?”

5 C îte pîni aveţi?`` i -a întrebat Isus.,,Şapte``, I-au răspuns ei.

He asked them, “How many loaves of bread do you have?” They said, “Seven.”

6 A tunci a poruncit norodului să şadă pe pămînt; a luat cele şapte pîni; şi, după ce a mulţămit lui Dumnezeu, le -a frînt şi le -a dat ucenicilor Săi ca să le împartă; şi ei le-au împărţit norodului.

Then He told the people to sit down on the ground. Jesus took the seven loaves of bread and gave thanks to God. He broke the loaves and gave them to His followers to give to the people. The followers gave the bread to them.

7 M ai aveau şi cîţiva peştişori: şi Isus, după ce i -a binecuvîntat, a poruncit să -i împartă şi pe aceia.

They had a few small fish also. He gave thanks to God and told the followers to give the fish to them.

8 A u mîncat şi s'au săturat; şi au ridicat şapte coşniţe, pline cu rămăşiţele de fărămituri.

They all ate and were filled. They picked up seven baskets full of pieces of bread and fish after the people were finished eating.

9 E rau aproape patru mii de inşi. În urmă Isus le -a dat drumul.

About four thousand ate. Then Jesus sent the people away. The Proud Religious Law-Keepers Ask for Something Special to See

10 I sus a intrat îndată în corabie cu ucenicii Săi, şi a venit în părţile Dalmanutei.

At once Jesus got in a boat with His followers and came to the country of Dalmanutha.

11 F ariseii au venit deodată, şi au început o ceartă de vorbe cu Isus; şi, ca să -L pună la încercare, I-au cerut un semn din cer.

The proud religious law-keepers came and began to ask Him for something special to see from heaven. They wanted to trap Jesus.

12 I sus a suspinat adînc în duhul Său, şi a zis:,, Pentru ce cere neamul acesta un semn? Adevărat vă spun că neamului acestuia nu i se va da deloc un semn.``

He breathed deep within and said, “Why do the people of this day look for something special to see? For sure, I tell you, the people of this day will have nothing special to see from heaven.”

13 A poi i -a lăsat, şi a intrat iarăş în corabie, ca să treacă de cealaltă parte.

Then He left them. He got in the boat and went to the other side of the sea. Jesus Shows That the Teaching of the Proud Religious Law-Keepers Is Wrong

14 U cenicii uitaseră să ia pîni; cu ei în corabie n'aveau decît o pîne.

The followers had forgotten to take bread, only one loaf was in the boat.

15 I sus le dădea în grijă, şi le zicea:,, Luaţi seama, să vă păziţi bine de aluatul Fariseilor şi de aluatul lui Irod!``

He said to them, “Look out! Have nothing to do with the yeast of the proud religious law-keepers and of Herod.”

16 U cenicii se gîndeau şi ziceau între ei:,, Fiindcă n'avem pîni.``

They talked about it among themselves. They said, “He said this because we forgot to bring bread.”

17 I sus a înţeles lucrul acesta, şi le -a zis:,, Pentruce vă gîndiţi că n'aveţi pîni? Tot nu pricepeţi şi tot nu înţelegeţi? Aveţi inima împietrită?

Jesus knew what they were thinking. He said to them, “Why are you talking among yourselves about forgetting to bring bread? Do you not understand? Is it not plain to you? Are your hearts still hard?

18 A veţi ochi, şi nu vedeţi? Aveţi urechi, şi nu auziţi? Şi nu vă aduceţi aminte deloc?

You have eyes, do you not see? You have ears, do you not hear? Do you not remember?

19 C înd am frînt cele cinci pîni la cei cinci mii de bărbaţi, cîte coşuri pline cu fărămituri aţi ridicat?``,, Douăsprezece``, I-au răspuns ei.

When I divided the five loaves of bread among the five thousand, how many baskets full of pieces did you pick up?” They said, “Twelve.”

20 c înd am frînt cele şapte pîni la cei patru mii de bărbaţi, cîte coşniţe pline cu fărămituri aţi ridicat?``,,Şapte``, I-au răspuns ei.

“When I divided the seven loaves of bread among the four thousand, how many baskets full of pieces did you pick up?” They said, “Seven.”

21 Ş i El le -a zis:,, Tot nu înţelegeţi?``

Then He asked, “Why do you not understand yet?” Jesus Heals a Blind Man

22 A u venit la Betsaida; au adus la Isus un orb, şi L-au rugat să Se atingă de el.

Then they came to the town of Bethsaida. Some people brought a blind man to Jesus. They asked if He would touch him.

23 I sus a luat pe orb de mînă, şi l -a scos afară din sat; apoi i -a pus scuipat pe ochi, Şi -a pus mînile peste el, şi l -a întrebat:,, Vezi ceva?``

He took the blind man by the hand out of town. Then He spit on the eyes of the blind man and put His hands on him. He asked, “Do you see anything?”

24 E l s'a uitat, şi a zis:,, Văd nişte oameni umblînd, dar mi se par ca nişte copaci.``

The blind man looked up and said, “I see some men. They look like trees, walking.”

25 I sus i -a pus din nou mînile pe ochi; i -a spus să se uite ţintă; şi cînd s'a uitat, a fost tămăduit, şi a văzut toate lucrurile desluşit.

Jesus put His hands on the man’s eyes again and told him to look up. Then he was healed and saw everything well.

26 A tunci Isus l -a trimes acasă, şi i -a zis:,, Să nu intri în sat, şi nici să nu spui cuiva în sat.``

Jesus sent him to his home and said, “Do not go into the town, or tell it to anyone there.” Peter Says Jesus Is the Christ

27 I sus a plecat cu ucenicii Săi în satele Cezareii lui Filip. Pe drum le -a pus următoarea întrebare:,, Cine zic oamenii că sînt Eu?``

Jesus and His followers went from there to the towns of Caesarea Philippi. As they went, He asked His followers, “Who do people say that I am?”

28 E i I-au răspuns:,, Ioan Botezătorul; alţii: Ilie; alţii: Unul din prooroci.``

They answered, “Some say John the Baptist and some say Elijah and others say one of the early preachers.”

29 D ar voi``, i -a întrebat El,,, cine ziceţi că sînt Eu?``,, Tu eşti Hristosul!`` I -a răspuns Petru.

He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter said, “You are the Christ.”

30 I sus le -a poruncit cu tărie să nu spună nimănui lucrul acesta despre El.

He told them with strong words that they should tell no one about Him. Jesus Tells of His Death for the First Time

31 A tunci a început să -i înveţe că Fiul omului trebuie să pătimească mult, să fie tăgăduit de bătrîni, de preoţii cei mai de seamă şi de cărturari, să fie omorît, şi după trei zile să învieze.

He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things. He told them that the leaders and the religious leaders of the Jews and the teachers of the Law would have nothing to do with Him. He told them He would be killed and three days later He would be raised from the dead.

32 L e spunea lucrurile acestea pe faţă. Petru însă L -a luat de o parte, şi a început să -L mustre.

He had said this in plain words. Peter took Him away from the others and began to speak sharp words to Him.

33 D ar Isus S'a întors şi S'a uitat la ucenicii Săi, a mustrat pe Petru, şi i -a zis:,,Înapoia Mea, Satano! Fiindcă tu nu te gîndeşti la lucrurile lui Dumnezeu, ci la lucrurile oamenilor.``

Jesus turned around. He looked at His followers and spoke sharp words to Peter. He said, “Get behind Me, Satan! Your thoughts are not thoughts from God but from men.” Giving Up Self and One’s Own Desires

34 A poi a chemat la El norodul împreună cu ucenicii Săi, şi le -a zis:,, Dacă voieşte cineva să vină după Mine, să se lepede de sine însuş, să-şi ia crucea, şi să Mă urmeze.

Jesus called the people and His followers to Him. He said to them, “If anyone wants to be My follower, he must give up himself and his own desires. He must take up his cross and follow Me.

35 C ăci oricine va vrea să-şi scape viaţa, o va pierde; dar oricine îşi va pierde viaţa din pricina Mea şi din pricina Evangheliei, o va mîntui.

If anyone wants to keep his own life safe, he will lose it. If anyone gives up his life because of Me and because of the Good News, he will save it.

36 Ş i ce foloseşte unui om să cîştige toată lumea, dacă îşi pierde sufletul?

For what does a man have if he gets all the world and loses his own soul?

37 S au ce va da un om în schimb pentru sufletul său?

What can a man give to buy back his soul?

38 P entrucă de oricine se va ruşina de Mine şi de cuvintele Mele, în acest neam preacurvar şi păcătos, Se va ruşina şi Fiul omului, cînd va veni în slava Tatălui Său împreună cu sfinţii îngeri.``

Whoever is ashamed of Me and My Words among the sinful people of this day, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when He comes in the shining-greatness of His Father and His holy angels.”
