1 D omnul a zis lui Moise:,, Iată că te fac Dumnezeu pentru Faraon; şi fratele tău Aaron va fi proorocul tău.

The Lord said to Moses, “See, I have made you as God to Pharaoh. Your brother Aaron will be the one who speaks for you.

2 T u vei spune tot ce-ţi voi porunci Eu, iar fratele tău Aaron va vorbi lui Faraon, ca să lase pe copiii lui Israel să plece din ţara lui.

You will speak all that I tell you. Your brother Aaron will tell Pharaoh to let the people of Israel leave his land.

3 E u voi împietri inima lui Faraon, şi Îmi voi înmulţi semnele şi minunile în ţara Egiptului.

But I will make Pharaoh’s heart hard. So I will do many powerful works for the people to see in the land of Egypt.

4 T otuş Faraon n'are să v'asculte. Apoi Îmi voi întinde mîna asupra Egiptului, şi voi scoate din ţara Egiptului oştile Mele, pe poporul Meu, pe copiii lui Israel, prin mari judecăţi.

Pharaoh will not listen to you. Then I will lay My hand on Egypt. By great acts that will punish the Egyptians, I will bring out My family groups, My people, the sons of Israel, from the land of Egypt.

5 E giptenii vor cunoaşte că Eu sînt Domnul, cînd Îmi voi întinde mîna asupra Egiptului, şi cînd voi scoate din mijlocul lor pe copiii lui Israel.``

The Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I put My hand upon Egypt and bring out the people of Israel from among them.”

6 M oise şi Aaron au făcut ce le poruncise Domnul: aşa au făcut.

So Moses and Aaron did what the Lord told them to do.

7 M oise era în vîrstă de optzeci de ani, iar Aaron de optzeci şi trei de ani, cînd au vorbit lui Faraon.

Moses was eighty years old and Aaron was eighty-three years old, when they spoke to Pharaoh. Aaron’s Special Walking Stick

8 D omnul a zis lui Moise şi lui Aaron:

The Lord said to Moses and Aaron,

9 D acă vă va vorbi Faraon, şi vă va zice:, Faceţi o minune!` să zici lui Aaron:, Ia-ţi toiagul, şi aruncă -l înaintea lui Faraon. Şi toiagul se va preface într'un şarpe.``

“When Pharaoh says to you, ‘Prove yourselves by doing a powerful work,’ then you say to Aaron, ‘Take your special stick and throw it down in front of Pharaoh so that it will become a snake.’”

10 M oise şi Aaron s'au dus la Faraon, şi au făcut cum poruncise Domnul. Aaron şi -a aruncat toiagul înaintea lui Faraon şi înaintea slujitorilor lui; şi toiagul s'a prefăcut într-un şarpe.

So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh. They did just as the Lord had told them. Aaron threw his stick down in front of Pharaoh and his servants and it became a snake.

11 D ar Faraon a chemat pe nişte înţelepţi şi pe nişte vrăjitori, şi vrăjitorii Egiptului au făcut şi ei la fel prin vrăjitoriile lor.

Then Pharaoh called for his wise men and wonder-workers. They did the same thing using their secret ways.

12 T oţi şi-au aruncat toiegele, şi s'au prefăcut în şerpi. Dar toiagul lui Aaron a înghiţit toiegele lor.

For each one threw down his stick and it became a snake. But Aaron’s special stick ate their sticks.

13 I nima lui Faraon s'a împietrit, şi n'a ascultat de Moise şi de Aaron, după cum spusese Domnul.

Yet Pharaoh’s heart was hard. He did not listen to them, just as the Lord had said. Water Becomes Blood

14 D omnul a zis lui Moise:,, Faraon are inima împietrită: nu vrea să lase poporul să plece.

The Lord said to Moses, “Pharaoh’s heart is not changed. He will not let the people go.

15 D u-te la Faraon dis de dimineaţă, cînd are să iasă să se ducă la apă, şi să te înfăţişezi înaintea lui pe malul rîului. Să-ţi iei în mînă toiagul, care a fost prefăcut în şarpe,

Go to Pharaoh in the morning when he is going out to the water. Wait for him beside the Nile River. Take in your hand the special stick that became a snake.

16 ş i să zici lui Faraon:, Domnul, Dumnezeul Evreilor, m'a trimes la tine, să-ţi spun:, Lasă pe poporul Meu să plece, ca să-Mi slujească în pustie. Dar iată că pînă acum n'ai ascultat.`

And say to him, ‘The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, sent me to you, saying, “Let My people go, so they may worship Me in the desert. But see, you have not yet listened.”

17 A cum, aşa vorbeşte Domnul:, Iată cum vei cunoaşte că Eu sînt Domnul. Am să lovesc apele rîului cu toiagul din mîna mea; şi ele se vor preface în sînge.

So the Lord says, “By this you will know that I am the Lord. I will hit the water of the Nile with the special stick that is in my hand. And the water will be changed to blood.

18 P eştii din rîu vor pieri, rîul se va împuţi, aşa că le va fi greaţă Egiptenilor să bea din apa rîului.``

The fish that are in the Nile will die. And the Nile will have a bad smell. The Egyptians will not be able to drink water from the Nile.”’”

19 D omnul a zis lui Moise:,, Spune lui Aaron:, Ia-ţi toiagul, şi întinde-ţi mîna peste apele Egiptenilor, peste rîurile lor, peste pîraiele lor, peste iazurile lor, şi peste toate bălţile lor. Ele se vor preface în sînge; şi va fi sînge în toată ţara Egiptului, atît în vasele de lemn cît şi în vasele de piatră.``

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Say to Aaron, ‘Take your special stick and put your hand out over the waters of Egypt, over their rivers, their pools, and all their man-made lakes of water, so they will become blood. There will be blood through all the land of Egypt, even in pots of wood and pots of stone.’”

20 M oise şi Aaron au făcut cum le poruncise Domnul. Aaron a ridicat toiagul, şi a lovit apele rîului, subt ochii lui Faraon şi subt ochii slujitorilor lui; şi toate apele rîului s'au prefăcut în sînge.

Moses and Aaron did what the Lord had told them. Aaron raised the special stick and hit the water of the Nile in front of Pharaoh and his servants. And all the water in the Nile was turned into blood.

21 P eştii din rîu au pierit, rîul s'a împuţit, aşa că Egiptenii nu mai puteau să bea apa rîului, şi a fost sînge în toată ţara Egiptului.

The fish that were in the Nile died. And the Nile had a bad smell. So the Egyptians could not drink water from the Nile. The blood was through all the land of Egypt.

22 D ar vrăjitorii Egiptului au făcut şi ei la fel prin vrăjitoriile lor. Inima lui Faraon s'a împietrit, şi n'a ascultat de Moise şi de Aaron, după cum spusese Domnul.

But the wonder-workers of Egypt did the same thing using their secret ways. And Pharaoh’s heart was hard. He did not listen to them, just as the Lord had said.

23 F araon s'a întors dela rîu, şi s'a dus acasă; dar nu şi -a pus la inimă aceste lucruri.

Then Pharaoh turned and went into his house, without even thinking what had happened.

24 T oţi Egiptenii au săpat în împrejurimile rîului, ca să găsească apă de băut; căci nu puteau să bea din apa rîului.

And all the Egyptians dug around the Nile for water to drink. For they could not drink the water of the Nile.

25 A u trecut şapte zile, după ce a lovit Domnul rîul.

Seven days passed after the Lord had hit the Nile.
