1 ( Un psalm al lui David.) Doamne, eu Te chem; vino degrabă la mine! Ia aminte la glasul meu, cînd Te chem!

I call upon You, O Lord. Hurry to me! Hear my voice when I call to You!

2 C a tămîia să fie rugăciunea mea înaintea Ta, şi ca jertfa de seară să fie ridicarea mînilor mele!

May my prayer be like special perfume before You. May the lifting up of my hands be like the evening gift given on the altar in worship.

3 P une, Doamne, o strajă înaintea gurii mele, şi păzeşte uşa buzelor mele!

O Lord, put a watch over my mouth. Keep watch over the door of my lips.

4 N u-mi abate inima la lucruri rele, la fapte vinovate împreună cu oamenii cari fac răul, şi să nu mănînc din ospeţele lor!

Do not let my heart turn to any sinful thing, to do wrong with men who sin. And do not let me eat their fine food.

5 L ovească-mă cel neprihănit, căci lovirea lui îmi este binevenită; pedepsească-mă, căci pedeapsa lui este ca untdelemnul turnat pe capul meu. Să nu-mi întorc capul dela ea: dar rugăciunea mea se va înalţa într'una împotriva răutăţii lor.

Let those who are right with God punish me and speak strong words to me in kindness. It is oil upon my head. Do not let my head turn away from it. Yet my prayer is always against the sinful works of those who sin.

6 C înd li se vor prăvăli judecătorii dealungul stîncilor, atunci vor asculta cuvintele mele, şi vor vedea că sînt plăcute.

When their rulers are thrown down from high rocks, they will hear my words, for they are true.

7 C um se brăzdează şi se spintecă pămîntul, aşa ni se risipesc oasele la gura mormîntului.

Our bones have been spread around the mouth of the grave like the broken ground behind the plow.

8 D e aceea, către Tine, Doamne, Dumnezeule, îmi îndrept ochii, la Tine caut adăpost; nu-mi părăsi sufletul!

For my eyes are toward You, O God the Lord. In You I have a safe place. Do not leave me without help.

9 P ăzeşte-mă de cursa pe care mi -o întind ei, şi de piedicile celor ce fac răul!

Keep me from the trap they have set for me. Keep me from the nets of those who do wrong.

10 S ă cadă cei răi în laţurile lor, în timp ce eu să scap!

Let the sinful fall into their own nets, while I pass by and am safe.
