1 A poi Isus a chemat pe cei doisprezece ucenici ai Săi, şi le -a dat putere să scoată afară duhurile necurate, şi să tămăduiască orice fel de boală şi orice fel de neputinţă.

Jesus called His twelve followers to Him. He gave them power to put out demons and to heal all kinds of sickness and disease.

2 I ată numele celor doisprezece apostoli: Cel dintîi, Simon, zis Petru, şi Andrei, fratele lui; Iacov, fiul lui Zebedei, şi Ioan, fratele lui;

These are the names of the twelve followers. There were Simon who was called Peter, and Andrew his brother, and James and John who were the sons of Zebedee.

3 F ilip şi Bartolomeu; Toma şi Matei, vameşul; Iacov, fiul lui Alfeu, şi Levi, zis şi Tadeu;

There were Philip and Bartholomew and Thomas. There was Matthew, the man who gathered taxes. There were James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddeaus, and

4 S imon Cananitul, şi Iuda Iscarioteanul, cel care a vîndut pe Isus.

Simon the Canaanite. There was Judas Iscariot who handed Jesus over to be killed.

5 A ceştia sînt cei doisprezece, pe cari i -a trimes Isus, după ce le -a dat învăţăturile următoare: Să nu mergeţi pe calea păgînilor şi să nu intraţi în vreo cetate a Samaritenilor;

Jesus sent out these twelve followers. He told them to go, saying, “Stay away from people who are not Jews. And do not go to any town in the country of Samaria.

6 c i să mergeţi mai de grabă la oile pierdute ale casei lui Israel.

But go to the Jewish people who are lost.

7 Ş i pe drum, propovăduiţi, şi ziceţi:,,Împărăţia cerurilor este aproape!``

As you go, preach. Say, ‘The holy nation of heaven is near.’

8 V indecaţi pe bolnavi, înviaţi pe morţi, curăţiţi pe leproşi, scoateţi afară dracii. Fără plată aţi primit, fără plată să daţi.

Heal the sick and those with bad skin diseases. Raise the dead. Put out demons. You have received much, now give much.

9 S ă nu luaţi nici aur, nici argint, nici aramă în brîele voastre,

Do not take gold or silver or brass money with you.

10 n ici traistă pentru drum, nici două haine, nici încălţăminte, nici toiag, căci vrednic este lucrătorul de hrana lui.

Do not take a bag of things for the trip. Do not take two coats or shoes or a walking stick. A workman should receive his food and what he needs.

11 Î n orice cetate sau sat veţi intra, să cercetaţi cine este acolo vrednic şi să rămîneţi la el pînă veţi pleca.

“When you come to a city or town, find a home that is respected and stay there until you leave.

12 L a intrarea voastră în casă, uraţi -i de bine;

As you go into a house, tell them you hope good comes to them.

13 ş i dacă este casa aceea vrednică, pacea voastră să vină peste ea; dar dacă nu este vrednică, pacea voastră să se întoarcă la voi.

And if the house is respected, give them your good wishes. If it is not respected, let your good wishes come back to you.

14 D acă nu vă va primi cineva, nici nu va asculta cuvintele voastre, să ieşiţi din casa sau din cetatea aceea, şi să scuturaţi praful de pe picioarele voastre.``

Whoever does not receive you or does not listen to what you say, as you leave that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet.

15 A devărat vă spun că, în ziua judecăţii, va fi mai uşor pentru ţinutul Sodomei şi Gomorei, decît pentru cetatea aceea.

For sure, I tell you, it will be easier for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah on the day men stand before God and are told they are guilty, than for that city.

16 I ată, Eu vă trimet ca pe nişte oi în mijlocul lupilor. Fiţi dar înţelepţi ca şerpii, şi fără răutate ca porumbeii.

“I am sending you out like sheep with wolves all around you. Be wise like snakes and gentle like doves.

17 P ăziţi-vă de oameni; căci vă vor da în judecata soboarelor, şi vă vor bate în sinagogile lor.

But look out for men. They will take you up to their courts and they will hurt you in their places of worship.

18 D in pricina Mea, veţi fi duşi înaintea dregătorilor şi înaintea împăraţilor, ca să slujiţi ca mărturie înaintea lor şi înaintea Neamurilor.

They will take you in front of the leaders of the people and of the kings because of Me. You will tell them and the people who do not know God about Me.

19 D ar, cînd vă vor da în mîna lor, să nu vă îngrijoraţi, gîndindu-vă cum sau ce veţi spune; căci ce veţi avea de spus, vă va fi dat chiar în ceasul acela;

When you are put into their hands, do not worry what you will say or how you will say it. The words will be given you when the time comes.

20 f iindcă nu voi veţi vorbi, ci Duhul Tatălui vostru va vorbi în voi.

It will not be you who will speak the words. The Spirit of your Father will speak through you.

21 F ratele va da la moarte pe frate-său, şi tatăl pe copilul lui; copiii se vor scula împotriva părinţilor lor, şi -i vor omorî.

“A brother will hand over a brother to be put to death. A father will hand over his child to be put to death. Children will hand over their parents to be put to death.

22 V eţi fi urîţi de toţi, din pricina Numelui Meu; dar cine va răbda pînă la sfîrşit, va fi mîntuit.

You will be hated by all people because of Me. But he who stays true to the end will be saved.

23 C înd vă vor prigoni într'o cetate, să fugiţi într'alta. Adevărat vă spun că nu veţi isprăvi de străbătut cetăţile lui Israel pînă va veni Fiul omului.

When they make it hard for you in one town, go to another. For sure, I tell you, before you have gone through the Jewish cities, the Son of Man will come.

24 U cenicul nu este mai pe sus de învăţătorul său, nici robul mai pe sus de domnul său.

“A follower is not greater than his teacher. A servant who is owned by someone is not greater than his owner.

25 A junge ucenicului să fie ca învăţătorul lui, şi robului să fie ca domnul lui. Dacă pe Stăpînul casei L-au numit Beelzebul, cu cît mai mult vor numi aşa, pe cei din casa lui?

A follower should be happy to be as his teacher, and a servant who is owned by someone should be happy to be as his owner. If they have called the head of the house Satan, how much more will they speak against those of the house.

26 A şa că să nu vă temeţi de ei. Căci nu este nimic ascuns care nu va fi descoperit, şi nimic tăinuit care nu va fi cunoscut.

Then do not be afraid of them. For nothing is covered up that will not be brought out into the light. There is nothing hid that will not be made known.

27 C e vă spun Eu la întunerec, voi să spuneţi la lumină; şi ce auziţi şoptindu-se la ureche, să propovăduiţi de pe acoperişul caselor.

You tell in the light what I tell you in the dark. You must speak with a loud voice from the roofs of houses what you have heard.

28 N u vă temeţi de cei ce ucid trupul, dar cari nu pot ucide sufletul; ci temeţi-vă mai degrabă de Celce poate să piardă şi sufletul şi trupul în gheenă.

Do not be afraid of them who kill the body. They are not able to kill the soul. But fear Him Who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

29 N u se vînd oare două vrăbii la un ban? Totuş, nici una din ele nu cade pe pămînt fără voia Tatălui vostru.

Are not two small birds sold for a very small piece of money? And yet not one of the birds falls to the earth without your Father knowing it.

30 C ît despre voi, pînă şi perii din cap, toţi vă sînt număraţi.

God knows how many hairs you have on your head.

31 D eci să nu vă temeţi; voi sînteţi mai de preţ decît multe vrăbii.

So do not be afraid. You are more important than many small birds.

32 D eaceea, pe orişicine Mă va mărturisi înaintea oamenilor, îl voi mărturisi şi Eu înaintea Tatălui Meu care este în ceruri;

“Whoever makes Me known in front of men, I will make him known to My Father in heaven.

33 d ar de oricine se va lepăda de Mine înaintea oamenilor, Mă voi lepăda şi Eu înaintea Tatălui Meu care este în ceruri.

But whoever does not make Me known in front of men and acts as if he does not know Me, I will not make him known to My Father in heaven.

34 S ă nu credeţi că am venit s'aduc pacea pe pămînt; n'am venit să aduc pacea, ci sabia.

“Do not think I came to bring peace on the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.

35 C ăci am venit să despart pe fiu de tatăl său, pe fiică de mamă-sa, şi pe noră de soacră-sa.

I came to turn a man against his father. I came to turn a daughter against her mother. I came to turn a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.

36 Ş i omul va avea de vrăjmaşi chiar pe cei din casa lui.

A man will be hated by his own family. Giving Up Things of This Earth

37 C ine iubeşte pe tată, ori pe mamă, mai mult decît pe Mine, nu este vrednic de Mine; şi cine iubeşte pe fiu ori pe fiică mai mult decît pe Mine, nu este vrednic de Mine.

“He who loves his father and mother more than Me is not good enough for Me. He who loves son or daughter more than Me is not good enough for Me.

38 C ine nu-şi ia crucea lui, şi nu vine după Mine, nu este vrednic de Mine.

He who does not take his cross and follow Me is not good enough for Me.

39 C ine îşi va păstra viaţa, o va pierde; şi cine îşi va pierde viaţa, pentru Mine, o va cîştiga.

He who wants to keep his life will have it taken away from him. He who loses his life because of Me will have it given back to him.

40 C ine vă primeşte pe voi, Mă primeşte pe Mine; şi cine Mă primeşte pe Mine, primeşte pe Cel ce M'a trimes pe Mine.

“Whoever receives you, receives Me. Whoever receives Me, receives Him Who sent Me.

41 C ine primeşte un prooroc, în numele unui prooroc, va primi răsplata unui prooroc; şi cine primeşte pe un om neprihănit, în numele unui om neprihănit, va primi răsplata unui om neprihănit.

Whoever receives a preacher who speaks for God because he is a preacher, will get the reward of a preacher who speaks for God. Whoever receives a man right with God, because he is a man right with God, will get the reward of a man right with God.

42 Ş i oricine va da de băut numai un pahar de apă rece unuia din aceşti micuţi, în numele unui ucenic, adevărat vă spun că nu-şi va pierde răsplata.``

For sure, I tell you, anyone who gives a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he follows Me, will not lose his reward.”
