1 A şa dar, omule, oricine ai fi tu, care, judeci pe altul, nu te poţi desvinovăţi; căci prin faptul că judeci pe altul, te osîndeşti singur; fiindcă tu, care judeci pe altul, faci aceleaşi lucruri.

So you can say nothing because you are guilty when you say someone else is guilty. While you say someone is guilty, you are doing the same things he does.

2 Ş tim, în adevăr, că judecata lui Dumnezeu împotriva celor ce săvîrşesc astfel de lucruri, este potrivită cu adevărul.

We know that God will say those who do such things are guilty.

3 Ş i crezi tu, omule, care judeci pe cei ce săvîrşesc astfel de lucruri, şi pe cari le faci şi tu, că vei scăpa de judecata lui Dumnezeu?

Do you think God will punish others for doing wrong and let you keep sinning?

4 S au dispreţuieşti tu bogăţiile bunătăţii, îngăduinţei şi îndelungei Lui răbdări? Nu vezi tu că bunătatea lui Dumnezeu te îndeamnă la pocăinţă?

Do you forget about His loving-kindness to you? Do you forget how long He is waiting for you? You know that God is kind. He is trying to get you to be sorry for your sins and turn from them.

5 D ar, cu împietrirea inimii tale, care nu vrea să se pocăiască, îţi aduni o comoară de mînie pentru ziua mîniei şi a arătării dreptei judecăţi a lui Dumnezeu,

Because you are not sorry for your sins and will not turn from them, you will be punished even more on the day of God’s anger. God will be right in saying you are guilty.

6 c are va răsplăti fiecăruia după faptele lui.

He will give to every man what he should get for the things he has done.

7 Ş i anume, va da viaţa vecinică celor ce, prin stăruinţa în bine, caută slava, cinstea şi nemurirea;

Those who keep on doing good and are looking for His greatness and honor will receive life that lasts forever.

8 ş i va da mînie şi urgie celor ce, din duh de gîlceavă, se împotrivesc adevărului şi ascultă de nelegiuire.

Those who love only themselves and do not obey the truth, but do what is wrong, will be punished by God. His anger will be on them.

9 N ecaz şi strîmtorare va veni peste orice suflet omenesc care face răul: întîi peste Iudeu, apoi peste Grec.

Every Jew and every person who is not a Jew who sins will suffer and have great sorrow.

10 S lavă, cinste şi pace va veni însă peste oricine face binele: întîi peste Iudeu, apoi peste Grec.

But God will give His greatness and honor and peace to all those who obey the truth. Both Jews and those who are not Jews will receive this.

11 C ăci înaintea lui Dumnezeu nu se are în vedere faţa omului.

God does not show favor to one man more than to another.

12 T oţi ceice au păcătuit fără lege, vor pieri fără lege; şi toţi ceice au păcătuit avînd lege, vor fi judecaţi după lege.

Those who have sinned without having the Law will be lost without the Law being used. Those who have the Law and have sinned will be judged by the Law.

13 P entrucă nu cei ce aud Legea, sînt neprihăniţi înaintea lui Dumnezeu, ci cei ce împlinesc legea aceasta, vor fi socotiţi neprihăniţi.

Just to hear the Law does not make a man right with God. The man right with God is the one who obeys the Law.

14 C înd Neamurile, măcar că n'au lege, fac din fire lucrurile Legii, prin aceasta ei, cari n'au o lege, îşi sînt singuri lege;

The people who are not Jews do not have the Law. When they do what the Law tells them to do, even if they do not have the Law, it shows they know what they should do.

15 ş i ei dovedesc că lucrarea Legii este scrisă în inimile lor; fiindcă despre lucrarea aceasta mărturiseşte cugetul lor şi gîndurile lor, cari sau se învinovăţesc sau se desvinovăţesc între ele.

They show that what the Law wants them to do is written in their hearts. Their own hearts tell them if they are guilty.

16 Ş i faptul acesta se va vedea în ziua cînd, după Evanghelia mea, Dumnezeu va judeca, prin Isus Hristos, lucrurile ascunse ale oamenilor.

There will be a day when God will judge because He knows the secret thoughts of men. He will do this through Jesus Christ. This is part of the Good News I preach.

17 T u, care te numeşti Iudeu, care te reazimi pe o Lege, care te lauzi cu Dumnezeul tău,

You are a Jew and think you are safe because of the Law. You tell others about how you know God.

18 c are cunoşti voia Lui, care ştii să faci deosebire între lucruri, pentrucă eşti învăţat de Lege;

You know what He wants you to do. You understand how the Law works. You know right from wrong.

19 t u, care te măguleşti că eşti călăuza orbilor, lumina celor ce sînt în întunerec,

You think you can lead a blind man. You think you can give light to those in darkness.

20 p ovăţuitorul celor fără minte, învăţătorul celor neştiutori, pentrucă în Lege ai dreptarul cunoştinţei depline şi al adevărului; -

You think you can teach foolish people and children about God. You have in the Law the plan of truth and wisdom.

21 t u deci, care înveţi pe alţii, pe tine însuţi nu te înveţi? Tu, care propovăduieşti:,, Să nu furi,`` furi?

You teach others. Why do you not teach yourselves? You tell others not to steal. Do you steal?

22 T u care zici:,, Să nu preacurveşti,`` preacurveşti? Tu, căruia ţi -e scîrbă de idoli, le jăfuieşti templele?

You say that no one should do sex sins. Do you do sex sins? You hate false gods. Do you rob the houses where they are kept?

23 T u, care te făleşti cu Legea, necinsteşti pe Dumnezeu prin călcarea acestei Legi?

You are proud of the Law. Do you take honor away from God when you do not obey the Law?

24 C ăci,, din pricina voastră este hulit Numele lui Dumnezeu între Neamuri``, după cum este scris.

The Holy Writings say, “God’s name is hated by the people who are not Jews because of you.”

25 T ăierea împrejur, negreşit, este de folos, dacă împlineşti Legea; dar dacă tu calci Legea, tăierea ta împrejur ajunge netăiere împrejur.

Going through the religious act of becoming a Jew is worth something if you obey the Law. If you do not obey the Law, it is worth nothing to you.

26 D acă deci, cel netăiat împrejur păzeşte poruncile Legii, netăierea lui împrejur nu i se va socoti ea ca o tăiere împrejur?

If a person who is not a Jew and has not gone through the act of becoming a Jew, obeys the Law, God will think of him as a Jew.

27 C el netăiat împrejur din naştere, care împlineşte Legea, nu te va osîndi el pe tine, care o calci, măcar că ai slova Legii şi tăierea împrejur?

You Jews have the Law but do not obey it. You have gone through the religious act also. At the same time those who are not Jews obey the Law even if they have not gone through the religious act of becoming a Jew. In this way, these people show you are guilty.

28 I udeu nu este acela care se arată pe dinafară că este Iudeu; şi tăiere împrejur nu este aceea care este pe dinafară, în carne.

A man is not a Jew just because he goes through the religious act of becoming a Jew.

29 C i Iudeu este acela care este Iudeu înlăuntru; şi tăiere împrejur este aceea a inimii, în duh, nu în slovă; un astfel de Iudeu îşi scoate lauda nu dela oameni, ci dela Dumnezeu.

The true Jew is one whose heart is right with God. The religious act of becoming a Jew must be done in the heart. That is the work of the Holy Spirit. The Law does not do that kind of work. The true Jew gets his thanks from God, not from men.
