1 D omnul a zis lui Moise şi lui Aaron în ţara Egiptului:

The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt,

2 L una aceasta va fi pentru voi cea dintîi lună; ea va fi pentru voi cea dintîi lună a anului.

“This month will be the beginning of months. It will be the first month of the year to you.

3 V orbiţi întregei adunări a lui Israel, şi spuneţi -i:,În ziua a zecea a acestei luni, fiecare om să ia un miel de fiecare familie, un miel de fiecare casă.

Speak to the people of Israel when they are gathered together. Tell them that on the tenth day of this month, every man must take a lamb for those of his father’s house, a lamb for each house.

4 D acă sînt prea puţini în casă pentru un miel, să -l ia cu vecinul lui cel mai de aproape, după numărul sufletelor; să faceţi socoteala cît poate mînca fiecare din mielul acesta.

If those in the house are too few to eat a lamb, let him and his nearest neighbor take the right amount for the number of people. Divide the lamb by how much each can eat.

5 S ă fie un miel fără cusur, de parte bărbătească, de un an; veţi putea să luaţi un miel sau un ied.

Your lamb must be perfect, a male lamb one year old. You may take it from the sheep or the goats.

6 S ă -l păstraţi pînă în ziua a patrusprezecea a lunii acesteia; şi toată adunarea lui Israel să -l junghie seara.

Keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month. Then all the people of Israel are to kill it in the evening.

7 S ă ia din sîngele lui, şi să ungă amîndoi stîlpii uşii şi pragul de sus al caselor unde îl vor mînca.

Then they must take some of the blood and put it on the wood pieces at the sides and top of the door of each house where they will eat it.

8 C arnea s'o mănînce chiar în noaptea aceea, friptă la foc; şi anume s'o mănînce cu azimi şi cu verdeţuri amare.

They must eat the meat that same night, made ready over a fire. They will eat it with bread made without yeast and with bitter plants.

9 S ă nu -l mîncaţi crud sau fiert în apă; ci să fie fript la foc: atît capul, cît şi picioarele şi măruntaiele.

Do not eat any of it if it is not cooked or if it is made ready by boiling. But cook it over a fire, its head, legs and inside parts.

10 S ă nu lăsaţi nimic din el pînă a doua zi dimineaţa; şi, dacă va rămînea ceva din el pe a doua zi dimineaţa, să -l ardeţi în foc.

Do not save any of it until morning. Burn with fire whatever is left of it before morning.

11 C înd îl veţi mînca, să aveţi mijlocul încins, încălţămintele în picioare, şi toiagul în mînă; şi să -l mîncaţi în grabă; căci sînt Paştele Domnului.

“Eat it with your shoes on your feet and your walking stick in your hand. And you must eat it in a hurry. It is the time the Lord will pass over.

12 Î n noaptea aceea, Eu voi trece prin ţara Egiptului, şi voi lovi pe toţi întîii-născuţi din ţara Egiptului, dela oameni pînă la dobitoace; şi voi face judecată împrotiva tuturor zeilor Egiptului; Eu, Domnul.

For I will go through the land of Egypt on that night. And I will kill all the first-born in the land of Egypt, both man and animal. I will punish all the gods of Egypt. I am the Lord.

13 S îngele vă va sluji ca semn pe casele unde veţi fi. Eu voi vedea sîngele, şi voi trece pe lîngă voi, aşa că nu vă va nimici nici o urgie, atunci cînd voi lovi ţara Egiptului.

But the blood will mark for you the houses where you live. When I see the blood I will pass over you. And no trouble will come upon you to destroy you when I punish the land of Egypt.

14 Ş i pomenirea acestei zile s'o păstraţi, şi s'o prăznuiţi printr'o sărbătoare în cinstea Domnului; s'o prăznuiţi ca o lege vecinică pentru urmaşii voştri.

“This day will be for you to remember. You must remember it by having a special supper in honor to the Lord. All of you must keep it as a law forever.

15 T imp de şapte zile, veţi mînca azimi. Din cea dintîi zi veţi scoate aluatul din casele voastre: căci oricine va mînca pîne dospită, din ziua întîi pînă în ziua a şaptea, va fi nimicit din Israel.

Seven days you must eat bread made without yeast. On the first day you must get all the yeast out of your houses. Whoever eats anything with yeast from the first day until the seventh day will be taken away from Israel.

16 Î n ziua dintîi veţi avea o adunare de sărbătoare sfîntă; şi în ziua a şaptea, veţi avea o adunare de sărbătoare sfîntă. Să nu faceţi nici o muncă în zilele acelea; veţi putea numai să pregătiţi mîncarea fiecărui ins.

On the first day you must have a holy meeting of the people, and another holy meeting on the seventh day. Do no work at all on these days, except to get ready what every person must eat. You may do only that.

17 S ă ţineţi sărbătoarea azimilor, căci chiar în ziua aceea voi scoate oştile voastre din ţara Egiptului; să ţineţi ziua aceea ca o lege vecinică pentru urmaşii voştri.

You must have the special supper of bread without yeast. For on this same day I brought your family groups out of the land of Egypt. So all of you must remember this day as a law forever.

18 Î n luna întîi, din a patrusprezecea zi a lunii, seara, să mîncaţi azimi, pînă în seara zilei a douăzeci şi una a lunii.

“In the first month, from the evening of the fourteenth day until the evening of the twenty-first day, you must eat bread made without yeast.

19 T imp de şapte zile, să nu se găsească aluat în casele voastre; căci oricine va mînca pîne dospită, va fi nimicit din adunarea lui Israel, fie străin, fie băştinaş.

There must be no yeast found in your houses for seven days. For whoever eats anything with yeast, that person, stranger or born in the land, will be cut off from the people of Israel.

20 S ă nu mîncaţi pîne dospită; ci, în toate locuinţele voastre, să mîncaţi azimi.``

Do not eat anything with yeast. You must eat bread made without yeast in all your homes.”

21 M oise a chemat pe toţi bătrînii lui Israel, şi le -a zis:,, Duceţi-vă de luaţi un miel pentru familiile voastre, şi junghiaţi Paştele.

Then Moses called for all the leaders of Israel. He said to them, “Go and choose lambs for your families, and kill the Passover lamb.

22 S ă luaţi apoi un mănunchi de isop, să -l muiaţi în sîngele din strachină, şi să ungeţi pragul de sus şi cei doi stîlpi ai uşii cu sîngele din strachină. Nimeni din voi să nu iasă din casă pînă dimineaţa.

Take a small branch and put it in the blood in the pot. Spread some of the blood on the wood pieces on the top and sides of the door. Then none of you go outside the door of his house until morning.

23 C înd va trece Domnul ca să lovească Egiptul, şi va vedea sîngele pe pragul de sus şi pe cei doi stîlpi ai uşii, Domnul va trece pe lîngă uşă, şi nu va îngădui Nimicitorului să intre în casele voastre ca să vă lovească.

For the Lord will pass through to kill the Egyptians. But when He sees the blood around your door, the Lord will pass over the door. He will not let the one who destroys come into your houses to kill you.

24 S ă păziţi lucrul acesta ca o lege pentru voi şi pentru copiii voştri în veac.

You must remember this as a law for you and your children forever.

25 C înd veţi intra în ţara, pe care v'o va da Domnul, după făgăduinţa Lui, să ţineţi acest obicei sfînt.

You must remember this special time when you go to the land that the Lord has promised to give you.

26 Ş i cînd vă vor întreba copiii voştri:, Ce însemnează obiceiul acesta?`

When your children ask you, ‘What does this special time mean to you?’

27 s ă răspundeţi:, Este jertfa de Paşte în cinstea Domnului, care a trecut pe lîngă casele copiilor lui Israel în Egipt, cînd a lovit Egiptul, şi ne -a scăpat casele noastre.`` Poporul s'a plecat, şi s'a închinat pînă la pămînt.

you will say, ‘It is a Passover gift to the Lord. Because He passed over the houses of the people of Israel in Egypt. He killed the Egyptians but saved our homes.’” And the people bowed to the ground and worshiped.

28 Ş i copiii lui Israel au plecat, şi au făcut cum poruncise Domnul lui Moise şi lui Aaron; aşa au făcut.

Then the people of Israel went and did what the Lord had told Moses and Aaron. Death of the First-Born

29 L a miezul-nopţii, Domnul a lovit pe toţi întîii născuţi din ţara Egiptului, dela întîiul-născut al lui Faraon, care şedea pe scaunul lui de domnie, pînă la întîiul-născut al celui închis în temniţă, şi pînă la toţi întîii-născuţi ai dobitoacelor.

At midnight the Lord killed all the first-born in the land of Egypt, from the first-born of Pharaoh who sat on the throne to the first-born of the one who was held in prison, and all the first-born of the cattle.

30 F araon s'a sculat noaptea, el şi toţi slujitorii lui, şi toţi Egiptenii; şi au fost mari ţipete în Egipt, căci nu era casă unde să nu fie un mort.

Pharaoh got up in the night, he and his servants and all the Egyptians. And there was a loud cry in Egypt. For there was no home where there was not someone dead. Children of Israel Leave Egypt

31 Î n aceeaş noapte Faraon a chemat pe Moise şi pe Aaron, şi le -a zis:,, Sculaţi-vă, ieşiţi din mijlocul poporului meu, voi şi copiii lui Israel. Duceţi-vă să slujiţi Domnului, cum aţi zis.

Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron at night. He said, “Get up and go away from my people, both you and the people of Israel. Go and worship the Lord, as you have said.

32 L uaţi-vă şi oile şi boii, cum aţi zis, duceţi-vă, şi binecuvîntaţi-mă.``

Take your flocks and your cattle, as you have said, and go. And pray that good will come to me also.”

33 E giptenii zoreau poporul, şi se grăbeau să -i scoată din ţară, căci ziceau:,, Altfel, toţi vom pieri.``

The Egyptians were trying to make the people hurry out of the land. For they said, “We will all be dead.”

34 P oporul şi -a luat plămădeala (coca), înainte de a se dospi. Şi-au învelit postăvile cu plămădeala în haine, şi le-au pus pe umeri.

So the people took their dough before yeast had been added. They tied their dough pots in their clothes on their shoulders.

35 C opiii lui Israel au făcut ce spusese Moise, şi au cerut Egiptenilor vase de argint, vase de aur şi haine.

The people of Israel had done what Moses had said. They had asked the Egyptians for things made of silver and gold and for clothes.

36 D omnul a făcut ca poporul să capete trecere înaintea Egiptenilor, cari le-au împlinit cererea. Şi astfel au jăfuit pe Egipteni.

And the Lord had given the people favor in the eyes of the Egyptians. So the Egyptians let them have whatever they asked for. And they took the best things of Egypt.

37 C opiii lui Israel au plecat din Ramses spre Sucot, în număr de aproape şase sute de mii de oameni cari mergeau pe jos, afară de copii.

The people of Israel traveled from Rameses to Succoth. There were about 600, 000 men on foot, and also the women and children.

38 O mulţime de oameni de tot soiul s'au suit împreună cu ei; aveau şi turme însemnate de oi şi boi.

And a mixed group of people went with them, and very many flocks and cattle.

39 C u plămădeala, pe care o luaseră din Egipt şi care nu se dospise încă, au făcut turte fără aluat; căci fuseseră izgoniţi de Egipteni, fără să mai poată zăbovi, şi fără să-şi ia merinde cu ei.

They made the dough they had brought out of Egypt into loaves of bread without yeast. Yeast was not added to the dough because they had been sent out of Egypt and could not wait. They could not make ready any food for themselves.

40 Ş ederea copiilor lui Israel în Egipt a fost de patru sute treizeci de ani.

The people of Israel had lived in Egypt 430 years.

41 Ş i, după patru sute treizeci de ani, tocmai în ziua aceea, toate oştile Domnului au ieşit din ţara Egiptului.

At the end of 430 years, on that same day, all of the Lord’s people left Egypt.

42 N oaptea aceea trebuie prăznuită în cinstea Domnului, pentrucă atunci i -a scos din ţara Egiptului; noaptea aceea trebuie prăznuită în cinstea Domnului de toţi copiii lui Israel şi de urmaşii lor.

It was a night to be remembered for the Lord for having brought them out of the land of Egypt. This night is for the Lord, to be remembered by all the people of Israel for all time. How the Passover Supper Should Be Eaten

43 D omnul a zis lui Moise şi lui Aaron:,, Iată porunca privitoare la Paşte: niciun străin să nu mănînce din ele.

The Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “This is the Law of the Passover. No stranger may eat of it.

44 S ă tai împrejur pe orice rob cumpărat cu bani, şi apoi să mănînce din ele.

But every servant who is bought with money may eat of it, only after he has gone through the religious act of becoming a Jew.

45 V eneticul şi simbriaşul să nu mănînce.

A stranger or paid servant may not eat of it.

46 S ă nu le mănînce decît într'o singură casă; să nu luaţi deloc carne afară din casă, şi să nu zdrobiţi niciun os.

It must be eaten in one house. You must not carry any of the meat outside the house. And you must not break a bone of it.

47 T oată adunarea lui Israel să facă Paştele.

All the people of Israel must remember this.

48 D acă un străin, care va locui la tine, va vrea să facă Paştele Domnului, orice parte bărbătească din casa lui va trebui tăiată împrejur; apoi se va apropia să le facă, şi va fi ca şi băştinaşul; dar niciun netăiat împrejur să nu mănînce din ele.

But when a stranger staying with you wants to share in this special supper to the Lord, let all his men and boys go through the religious act of becoming a Jew. Then let him come near to share in the special supper. He will be like one who is born in the land. But no person who has not gone through the religious act may eat of it.

49 A ceeaş lege va fi pentru băştinaş ca şi pentru străinul, care va locui în mijlocul vostru.``

The same law is for the one who is born in the land and for the stranger who stays among you.”

50 T oţi copiii lui Israel au făcut cum poruncise Domnul lui Moise şi lui Aaron; aşa au făcut.

Then all the people of Israel did just as the Lord had told Moses and Aaron.

51 Ş i chiar în ziua aceea, Domnul a scos din ţara Egiptului pe copiii lui Israel, după oştile lor.

On that same day the Lord brought the people of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their family groups.
