1 E l Señor habló con Moisés y Aarón en la tierra de Egipto, y les dijo:

The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt,

2 « Este mes marcará el principio de los meses. Será para ustedes el primer mes del año.

“This month will be the beginning of months. It will be the first month of the year to you.

3 H ablen con toda la congregación de Israel, y díganle: “El día diez de este mes, cada uno de ustedes debe tomar un cordero por familia, según las familias de los padres.”

Speak to the people of Israel when they are gathered together. Tell them that on the tenth day of this month, every man must take a lamb for those of his father’s house, a lamb for each house.

4 S i la familia es tan pequeña como para no comerse todo el cordero, entonces esa familia y sus vecinos más cercanos tomarán un cordero, según el número de personas. Calcularán el cordero según lo que cada persona pueda comer.

If those in the house are too few to eat a lamb, let him and his nearest neighbor take the right amount for the number of people. Divide the lamb by how much each can eat.

5 E l animal debe ser macho, de un año y sin ningún defecto, y lo tomarán de las ovejas o de las cabras.

Your lamb must be perfect, a male lamb one year old. You may take it from the sheep or the goats.

6 L o apartarán hasta el día catorce de este mes, y toda la congregación de Israel lo sacrificará entre la tarde y la noche.

Keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month. Then all the people of Israel are to kill it in the evening.

7 T omarán un poco de sangre y la pondrán en los dos postes y en el dintel de las casas donde lo vayan a comer.

Then they must take some of the blood and put it on the wood pieces at the sides and top of the door of each house where they will eat it.

8 L o comerán esa noche, asando la carne al fuego y acompañando la carne con panes sin levadura y hierbas amargas.

They must eat the meat that same night, made ready over a fire. They will eat it with bread made without yeast and with bitter plants.

9 L a carne no debe estar cruda ni ser cocida en agua, sino asada al fuego, junto con la cabeza, las patas y las entrañas.

Do not eat any of it if it is not cooked or if it is made ready by boiling. But cook it over a fire, its head, legs and inside parts.

10 N o dejarán nada del cordero para el día siguiente; si algo queda hasta el día siguiente lo quemarán por completo.

Do not save any of it until morning. Burn with fire whatever is left of it before morning.

11 D ebe comer el cordero vestidos y calzados, y con el bordón en la mano, y comerlo de prisa; se trata de la Pascua del Señor.

“Eat it with your shoes on your feet and your walking stick in your hand. And you must eat it in a hurry. It is the time the Lord will pass over.

12 E sa noche yo, el Señor, pasaré por la tierra de Egipto y heriré de muerte a todo primogénito egipcio, tanto de sus hombres como de sus animales, y también dictaré sentencia contra todos los dioses de Egipto.

For I will go through the land of Egypt on that night. And I will kill all the first-born in the land of Egypt, both man and animal. I will punish all the gods of Egypt. I am the Lord.

13 Y cuando hiera yo la tierra de Egipto, la sangre en las casas donde ustedes se encuentren les servirá de señal, pues yo veré la sangre y seguiré adelante, y no habrá entre ustedes ninguna plaga de mortandad.

But the blood will mark for you the houses where you live. When I see the blood I will pass over you. And no trouble will come upon you to destroy you when I punish the land of Egypt.

14 » Este día deberán recordarlo y celebrarlo generación tras generación, como fiesta solemne en honor del Señor. Es un estatuto perpetuo que deben celebrar.

“This day will be for you to remember. You must remember it by having a special supper in honor to the Lord. All of you must keep it as a law forever.

15 D urante siete días comerán panes sin levadura, y desde el primer día no deberán tener levadura en sus casas, porque todo el que coma pan leudado desde el primer día hasta el séptimo, será expulsado de Israel.

Seven days you must eat bread made without yeast. On the first day you must get all the yeast out of your houses. Whoever eats anything with yeast from the first day until the seventh day will be taken away from Israel.

16 E l primer día habrá una convocación solemne, lo mismo que el día séptimo. No se hará en ellos ningún trabajo, a no ser lo que cada uno deba preparar para comer.

On the first day you must have a holy meeting of the people, and another holy meeting on the seventh day. Do no work at all on these days, except to get ready what every person must eat. You may do only that.

17 D eberán celebrar esta fiesta de los panes sin levadura, porque fue en este día cuando los saqué a todos ustedes de Egipto. Por lo tanto, sus generaciones futuras deberán cumplir con este mandamiento como costumbre perpetua.

You must have the special supper of bread without yeast. For on this same day I brought your family groups out of the land of Egypt. So all of you must remember this day as a law forever.

18 D esde el día catorce del mes primero por la tarde, y hasta el día veintiuno por la tarde de ese mismo mes primero, comerán panes sin levadura.

“In the first month, from the evening of the fourteenth day until the evening of the twenty-first day, you must eat bread made without yeast.

19 D urante siete días no deben tener levadura en sus casas. Cualquiera que coma pan leudado, sea extranjero o nacido en el país, será expulsado de la congregación de Israel.

There must be no yeast found in your houses for seven days. For whoever eats anything with yeast, that person, stranger or born in the land, will be cut off from the people of Israel.

20 N o deben comer nada que tenga levadura. Dondequiera que ustedes vivan, deberán comer panes sin levadura.»

Do not eat anything with yeast. You must eat bread made without yeast in all your homes.”

21 E ntonces Moisés llamó a todos los ancianos de Israel y les dijo: «Vayan y tomen un cordero por cada familia, y sacrifíquenlo para la pascua.

Then Moses called for all the leaders of Israel. He said to them, “Go and choose lambs for your families, and kill the Passover lamb.

22 T omen un manojo de hisopo y mójenlo en la sangre que deberán haber recogido en un recipiente, y unten el dintel y los dos postes con esa sangre. Ninguno de ustedes debe salir de su casa hasta el día siguiente,

Take a small branch and put it in the blood in the pot. Spread some of the blood on the wood pieces on the top and sides of the door. Then none of you go outside the door of his house until morning.

23 p orque el Señor pasará y herirá de muerte a los egipcios; pero, cuando él pase y vea la sangre en el dintel y en los dos postes, pasará por alto aquella puerta y no dejará que el ángel exterminador entre en las casas de ustedes y los hiera.

For the Lord will pass through to kill the Egyptians. But when He sees the blood around your door, the Lord will pass over the door. He will not let the one who destroys come into your houses to kill you.

24 » Éste será un estatuto perpetuo, que ustedes y sus hijos deberán cumplir siempre.

You must remember this as a law for you and your children forever.

25 C uando ustedes entren en la tierra que el Señor les ha prometido, deberán seguir cumpliéndolo.

You must remember this special time when you go to the land that the Lord has promised to give you.

26 Y cuando sus hijos les pregunten: “¿Qué sentido tiene para ustedes este estatuto?”,

When your children ask you, ‘What does this special time mean to you?’

27 u stedes les responderán: “Se trata del sacrificio que se ofrece al Señor como recuerdo de la pascua, es decir, cuando en Egipto el Señor pasó por alto las casas israelitas y nos salvó la vida, pero hirió de muerte a los egipcios.”» Entonces los israelitas se inclinaron y adoraron,

you will say, ‘It is a Passover gift to the Lord. Because He passed over the houses of the people of Israel in Egypt. He killed the Egyptians but saved our homes.’” And the people bowed to the ground and worshiped.

28 y luego fueron y cumplieron con todo lo que el Señor les había ordenado a Moisés y a Aarón. Muerte de los primogénitos

Then the people of Israel went and did what the Lord had told Moses and Aaron. Death of the First-Born

29 A la medianoche, el Señor hirió de muerte a todos los primogénitos en la tierra de Egipto, lo mismo al primogénito del faraón que ocupaba el trono que al primogénito del que estaba cautivo en la cárcel, y a todas las primeras crías de los animales.

At midnight the Lord killed all the first-born in the land of Egypt, from the first-born of Pharaoh who sat on the throne to the first-born of the one who was held in prison, and all the first-born of the cattle.

30 Y esa misma noche el faraón se levantó, lo mismo que todos sus siervos y todos los egipcios, y en todo Egipto hubo un gran clamor, porque no había una casa donde no hubiera un muerto.

Pharaoh got up in the night, he and his servants and all the Egyptians. And there was a loud cry in Egypt. For there was no home where there was not someone dead. Children of Israel Leave Egypt

31 E sa misma noche el faraón mandó llamar a Moisés y a Aarón, y les dijo: «Apártense de mi pueblo, ustedes y los hijos de Israel, y vayan a servir al Señor, tal y como lo han pedido.

Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron at night. He said, “Get up and go away from my people, both you and the people of Israel. Go and worship the Lord, as you have said.

32 L lévense también sus ovejas y sus vacas, como lo han pedido, y váyanse. ¡Y bendíganme también a mí!»

Take your flocks and your cattle, as you have said, and go. And pray that good will come to me also.”

33 L os egipcios ya se daban por muertos, así que apremiaban a los israelitas para que se dieran prisa y abandonaran el país.

The Egyptians were trying to make the people hurry out of the land. For they said, “We will all be dead.”

34 L os israelitas, por su parte, envolvieron su masa en sábanas y se la echaron al hombro, para llevársela antes de que fermentara.

So the people took their dough before yeast had been added. They tied their dough pots in their clothes on their shoulders.

35 A demás, hicieron lo que Moisés les había ordenado y pidieron a los egipcios que les dieran alhajas de oro y plata, y vestidos,

The people of Israel had done what Moses had said. They had asked the Egyptians for things made of silver and gold and for clothes.

36 y el Señor hizo que los egipcios vieran a los israelitas con buenos ojos, y les daban todo lo que les pedían, Así fue como ellos despojaron a los egipcios. Los israelitas salen de Egipto

And the Lord had given the people favor in the eyes of the Egyptians. So the Egyptians let them have whatever they asked for. And they took the best things of Egypt.

37 L os israelitas partieron de Ramesés a Sucot. Eran unos seiscientos mil hombres de a pie, sin contar a los niños.

The people of Israel traveled from Rameses to Succoth. There were about 600, 000 men on foot, and also the women and children.

38 C on ellos se fue toda clase de gente, y ovejas, y muchísimo ganado.

And a mixed group of people went with them, and very many flocks and cattle.

39 C omo no habían tenido tiempo ni para prepararse comida cuando los egipcios los echaron fuera de Egipto, con la masa que habían sacado, la cual aún no había fermentado, cocieron tortas sin levadura.

They made the dough they had brought out of Egypt into loaves of bread without yeast. Yeast was not added to the dough because they had been sent out of Egypt and could not wait. They could not make ready any food for themselves.

40 L os israelitas vivieron en Egipto cuatrocientos treinta años,

The people of Israel had lived in Egypt 430 years.

41 y el mismo día en que se cumplieron esos cuatrocientos treinta años todo el pueblo del Señor salió de ese país.

At the end of 430 years, on that same day, all of the Lord’s people left Egypt.

42 E sa noche el Señor sacó de Egipto a los hijos de Israel. Por lo tanto, todos ellos y sus generaciones futuras deben recordarla.

It was a night to be remembered for the Lord for having brought them out of the land of Egypt. This night is for the Lord, to be remembered by all the people of Israel for all time. How the Passover Supper Should Be Eaten

43 E l Señor dijo a Moisés y a Aarón: «Éste es el estatuto de la pascua. Ningún extranjero podrá comer de ella.

The Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “This is the Law of the Passover. No stranger may eat of it.

44 S ólo comerán de ella los siervos que hayan sido comprados por dinero, pero sólo después de haber sido circuncidados.

But every servant who is bought with money may eat of it, only after he has gone through the religious act of becoming a Jew.

45 P ero ni los extranjeros ni los jornaleros podrán comer de ella.

A stranger or paid servant may not eat of it.

46 D ebe comerse en una casa, y no se podrá sacar de allí nada de esa aquella carne, ni se le quebrará un solo hueso.

It must be eaten in one house. You must not carry any of the meat outside the house. And you must not break a bone of it.

47 A sí debe hacerlo toda la comunidad de Israel.

All the people of Israel must remember this.

48 P ero si algún extranjero vive contigo y quiere celebrar la pascua en honor del Señor, todos sus hombres deberán ser circuncidados primero, y entonces podrá celebrarla, pues será como un israelita más. Pero ningún incircunciso podrá comer de ella.

But when a stranger staying with you wants to share in this special supper to the Lord, let all his men and boys go through the religious act of becoming a Jew. Then let him come near to share in the special supper. He will be like one who is born in the land. But no person who has not gone through the religious act may eat of it.

49 E sta misma ley se aplicará a los israelitas por nacimiento y a los extranjeros que vivan entre ustedes.»

The same law is for the one who is born in the land and for the stranger who stays among you.”

50 T odos los hijos de Israel cumplieron con lo que el Señor les ordenó a Moisés y Aarón.

Then all the people of Israel did just as the Lord had told Moses and Aaron.

51 Y ese mismo día el Señor sacó de Egipto a todos los hijos de Israel.

On that same day the Lord brought the people of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their family groups.
