1 É stas son las etapas de los hijos de Israel desde que salieron de Egipto en orden de batalla, bajo el mando de Moisés y Aarón.

These are the travels of the people of Israel, when Moses and Aaron led them out from the land of Egypt by their armies.

2 P or órdenes del Señor, Moisés iba anotando cada etapa y cada lugar al que llegaban. Éstas son sus etapas, en el orden en que fueron avanzando:

Moses wrote down the starting places of their travels, as the Lord told him. These are their travels by their starting places.

3 A los quince días del mes primero los hijos de Israel partieron de Ramesés. Se pusieron en marcha un día después de la pascua, y lo hicieron con gran poder, a la vista de todos los egipcios,

They traveled from Rameses on the fifteenth day of the first month. On the day after the Passover the people of Israel started out strong in heart in front of all the Egyptians.

4 m ientras los egipcios enterraban a todos sus primogénitos, pues el Señor los había herido de muerte y, además, había dictado sentencia en contra de los dioses egipcios.

The Egyptians were burying all their first-born whom the Lord had killed among them. The Lord had punished their gods also.

5 L os hijos de Israel partieron de Ramesés y acamparon en Sucot.

Then the people of Israel traveled from Rameses and stayed in Succoth.

6 P artieron de Sucot y acamparon en Etam, que está en los extremos del desierto.

They traveled from Succoth and stayed in Etham, beside the desert.

7 P artieron de Etam y se dirigieron a Pi Ajirot, que está frente a Baal Sefón, y acamparon frente a Migdol.

They went from Etham and turned back to Pi-hahiroth, east of Baal-zephon, and stayed at Migdol.

8 P artieron de Pi Ajirot y cruzaron el mar en dirección al desierto, y durante tres días anduvieron por el desierto de Etam, después de los cuales acamparon en Mará.

Then they traveled from Hahiroth and passed through the sea into the desert. They traveled for three days in the desert of Etham, and stayed at Marah.

9 P artieron de Mará y llegaron a Elim, donde había doce manantiales y setenta palmeras, y acamparon allí.

They left Marah and came to Elim. There were twelve wells of water and seventy palm trees in Elim, and they stayed there.

10 P artieron de Elim y acamparon junto al Mar Rojo.

Then they traveled from Elim and stayed by the Red Sea.

11 P artieron del Mar Rojo y acamparon en el desierto de Sin.

They left the Red Sea and stayed in the Desert of Sin.

12 P artieron del desierto de Sin y acamparon en Dofca.

They traveled from the Desert of Sin, and stayed at Dophkah.

13 P artieron de Dofca y acamparon en Alús.

Then they left Dophkah and stayed at Alush.

14 P artieron de Alús y acamparon en Refidín, donde el pueblo no tenía agua para beber.

They traveled from Alush and stayed at Rephidim. It was there that the people had no water to drink.

15 P artieron de Refidín y acamparon en el desierto de Sinaí.

They went from Rephidim and stayed in the Desert of Sinai.

16 P artieron del desierto de Sinaí y acamparon en Quibrot Hatavá.

They traveled from the Desert of Sinai, and stayed at Kibroth-hattaavah.

17 P artieron de Quibrot Hatavá y acamparon en Jaserot.

They went from Kibroth-hattaavah and stayed at Hazeroth.

18 P artieron de Jaserot y acamparon en Ritma.

They left Hazeroth and stayed at Rithmah.

Then they went from Rithmah and stayed at Rimmon-perez.

They traveled from Rimmon-perez, and stayed at Libnah.

They left Libnah, and stayed at Rissah.

Then they went from Rissah and stayed at Kehelathah.

They went from Kehelathah and stayed at Mount Shepher.

They traveled from Mount Shepher and stayed at Haradah.

Then they traveled from Makheloth, and stayed at Tahath.

They traveled from Tahath, and stayed at Terah.

28 P artieron de Teraj y acamparon en Mitca.

They went from Terah and stayed at Mithkah.

29 P artieron de Mitca y acamparon en Jasmoná.

They left Mithkah and stayed at Hashmonah.

30 P artieron de Jasmoná y acamparon en Moserot.

Then they left Hashmonah and stayed at Moseroth.

31 P artieron de Moserot y acamparon en Bené Yacán.

They went from Moseroth and stayed at Benejaakan.

32 P artieron de Bené Yacán y acamparon en el monte de Gidgad.

They traveled from Benejaakan, and stayed at Hor-haggidgad.

They went from Hor-haggidgad and stayed at Jotbathah.

Then they left Jotbathah and stayed at Abronah.

35 P artieron de Abrona y acamparon en Ezión Guéber.

They went from Abronah and stayed at Ezion-geber.

36 P artieron de Ezión Guéber y acamparon en el desierto de Zin, que es Cades.

They went from Ezion-geber and stayed in the Desert of Zin, that is, Kadesh.

37 Y partieron de Cades y acamparon en el monte de Hor, en los extremos del país de Edom.

And they traveled from Kadesh, and stayed at Mount Hor, beside the land of Edom.

38 E l sacerdote Aarón subió al monte Hor y, tal y como el Señor lo había dicho, allí murió. Era el día primero del mes quinto, cuarenta años después de que los hijos de Israel salieron de Egipto.

Then Aaron the religious leader went up to Mount Hor, as the Lord told him. He died there, in the fortieth year after the people of Israel had left the land of Egypt, on the first day of the fifth month.

39 A arón murió en el monte Hor, a la edad de ciento veintitrés años.

Aaron was 123 years old when he died on Mount Hor.

40 E l rey cananeo de Arad, que habitaba en el desierto de Canaán, supo que los hijos de Israel habían llegado.

The Canaanite king of Arad, who lived in the Negev in the land of Canaan, heard of the coming of the people of Israel.

41 L os israelitas partieron del monte Hor y acamparon en Salmoná.

Then the people traveled from Mount Hor, and stayed at Zalmonah.

42 P artieron de Salmoná y acamparon en Punón.

They left Zalmonah, and stayed at Punon.

43 P artieron de Punón y acamparon en Obot.

They went from Punon and stayed at Oboth.

44 P artieron de Obot y acamparon en Iyé Abarín, en la frontera de Moab.

Then they left Oboth and stayed at Iye-abarim, beside Moab.

45 P artieron de Iyé Abarín y acamparon en Dibón Gad.

They traveled from Iyim, and stayed at Dibon-gad.

46 P artieron de Dibón Gad y acamparon en Almón Diblatayin.

They went from Dibon-gad and stayed at Almon-diblathaim.

47 P artieron de Almón Diblatayin y acamparon en los montes de Abarín, frente a Nebo.

They left Almon-diblathaim and stayed in the mountains of Abarim, near Nebo.

48 P artieron de los montes de Abarín y acamparon en los campos de Moab, junto al Jordán, frente a Jericó.

They traveled from the mountains of Abarim, and stayed in the plains of Moab by the Jordan near Jericho.

49 F inalmente, acamparon en los campos de Moab, junto al Jordán, desde Bet Yesimot hasta Abel Sitín. Condiciones para ocupar Canaán

And they stayed by the Jordan, from Beth-jeshimoth as far as Abelshittim in the plains of Moab.

50 E l Señor habló con Moisés en los campos de Moab, junto al Jordán y frente a Jericó. Le dijo:

Then the Lord said to Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan near Jericho,

51 « Habla con los hijos de Israel, y diles: “Cuando ustedes hayan cruzado el Jordán y entren en la tierra de Canaán,

“Say to the people of Israel, ‘You will cross over the Jordan into the land of Canaan.

52 d eben desalojar de su presencia a todos los habitantes del país. Destruirán todos sus ídolos de piedra, todas sus imágenes fundidas, y todos sus lugares altos;

Then drive out all the people living in the land in front of you. Destroy all their cut stones, and all their man-made gods, and all their high places.

53 e xpulsarán a los que habitan la tierra, y habitarán en ella, porque yo se la he dado a ustedes en propiedad.

Take the land for your own and live in it. For I have given the land to you.

54 Y ustedes tomarán posesión de la tierra mediante un sorteo por familias. A los muchos se les dará en posesión mucho terreno, y a los pocos se les dará menos terreno. Dependiendo del terreno que les toque en suerte, allí se quedará cada uno. Tomarán posesión según las tribus de sus padres.

Your families will receive land by drawing names. The larger families should be given more land. The smaller families should be given less land. When a man’s name is drawn, that land will be his. You will receive land by the family groups of your fathers.

55 S i ustedes no echan fuera de su presencia a los habitantes del país, va a suceder que los que ustedes dejen les serán aguijones en los ojos y espinas en los costados, y los afligirán en la tierra donde ustedes habiten.

Drive out the people who live in the land in front of you. If you do not, then those who are allowed to stay will be like sharp pieces in your eyes and like thorns in your sides. They will trouble you in the land where you live.

56 A demás, yo los trataré a ustedes como pensaba tratarlos a ellos.”»

And I will do to you as I thought to do to them.’”
