1 E l que habita al abrigo del Altísimo y se acoge a la sombra del Omnipotente,

He who lives in the safe place of the Most High will be in the shadow of the All-powerful.

2 d ice al Señor: «Tú eres mi esperanza, mi Dios, ¡el castillo en el que pongo mi confianza!»

I will say to the Lord, “You are my safe and strong place, my God, in Whom I trust.”

3 E l Señor te librará de las trampas del cazador; te librará de la peste destructora.

For it is He Who takes you away from the trap, and from the killing sickness.

4 E l Señor te cubrirá con sus plumas, y vivirás seguro debajo de sus alas. ¡Su verdad es un escudo protector!

He will cover you with His wings. And under His wings you will be safe. He is faithful like a safe-covering and a strong wall.

5 N o tendrás temor de los terrores nocturnos, ni de las flechas lanzadas de día;

You will not be afraid of trouble at night, or of the arrow that flies by day.

6 n o temerás a la peste que ronda en la oscuridad, ni a la mortandad que destruye a pleno sol.

You will not be afraid of the sickness that walks in darkness, or of the trouble that destroys at noon.

7 A tu izquierda caerán mil, y a tu derecha caerán diez mil, pero a ti no te alcanzará la mortandad.

A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand. But it will not come near you.

8 ¡ Tú lo verás con tus propios ojos! ¡Tú verás a los impíos recibir su merecido!

You will only look on with your eyes, and see how the sinful are punished.

9 P or haber puesto al Señor por tu esperanza, por poner al Altísimo como tu protector,

Because you have made the Lord your safe place, and the Most High the place where you live,

10 n o te sobrevendrá ningún mal, ni plaga alguna tocará tu casa.

nothing will hurt you. No trouble will come near your tent.

11 E l Señor mandará sus ángeles a ti, para que te cuiden en todos tus caminos.

For He will tell His angels to care for you and keep you in all your ways.

12 E llos te llevarán en sus brazos, y no tropezarán tus pies con ninguna piedra.

They will hold you up in their hands. So your foot will not hit against a stone.

13 A plastarás leones y víboras; ¡pondrás tu pie sobre leones y serpientes!

You will walk upon the lion and the snake. You will crush under your feet the young lion and the snake.

14 « Yo lo pondré a salvo, porque él me ama. Lo enalteceré, porque él conoce mi nombre.

Because he has loved Me, I will bring him out of trouble. I will set him in a safe place on high, because he has known My name.

15 É l me invocará, y yo le responderé; estaré con él en medio de la angustia. Yo lo pondré a salvo y lo glorificaré.

He will call upon Me, and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble. I will take him out of trouble and honor him.

16 L e concederé muchos años de vida, y le daré a conocer mi salvación.»

I will please him with a long life. And I will show him My saving power.
