1 P or esos días Ezequías cayó gravemente enfermo. Entonces el profeta Isaías hijo de Amoz fue a visitarlo, y le dijo: «Así dice el Señor: “Pon tu casa en orden, porque no vas a sanar, sino que morirás.”»

In those days Hezekiah became sick enough to die. The man of God, Isaiah the son of Amoz, came to him and said, “This is what the Lord says, ‘Get those of your house ready. For you will die. You will not get well again.’”

2 E zequías volvió su rostro a la pared, y oró al Señor. Le dijo:

Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, saying,

3 « Señor, te ruego que hagas memoria de que en verdad me he conducido delante de ti con integridad de corazón, y que he hecho todo lo que te agrada.» Y Ezequías prorrumpió en llanto.

“I beg You, O Lord, remember how I have walked before You in truth and with a whole heart. I have done what is good in Your eyes.” And Hezekiah cried much.

4 P ero antes de que Isaías llegara a la mitad del patio, la palabra del Señor vino a Isaías, y le dijo:

Before Isaiah had gone out of the center room, the word of the Lord came to him, saying,

5 « Regresa y dile a Ezequías, príncipe de mi pueblo, que yo, el Señor, Dios de su antepasado David, he dicho: “He escuchado tu oración, y he visto tus lágrimas. Te voy a devolver la salud, y dentro de tres días vas a ir a mi templo.

“Return to Hezekiah the leader of My people. Tell him, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says, “I have heard your prayer. I have seen your tears. See, I will heal you. On the third day you must go up to the house of the Lord.

6 V oy a darte quince años más de vida, y a ti y a esta ciudad los voy a librar del poder del rey de Asiria. Por mí mismo, y por mi siervo David, voy a proteger a esta ciudad.”»

And I will add fifteen years to your life. I will save you and this city from the power of the king of Assyria. And I will help this city because of My honor and because of My servant David.” ‘ ”

7 D icho esto, Isaías ordenó que se hiciera una masa de higos, y en cuanto la hicieron se la pusieron sobre la llaga, y Ezequías sanó.

Then Isaiah said, “Bring a loaf made of figs. Have them take and lay it on the sore on Hezekiah’s body. Then he will be well again.” And they took and laid it on the boil and he was healed.

8 A ntes de eso, Ezequías le había preguntado a Isaías: «¿Qué señal voy a tener de que el Señor me sanará, y de que dentro de tres días iré al templo del Señor?»

Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “What will be the special thing for me to see, that the Lord will heal me, and that I will go up to the house of the Lord on the third day?”

9 I saías le respondió: «¿Qué señal quieres recibir de que el Señor hará lo que te ha dicho? ¿Quieres que la sombra avance diez grados, o que los retroceda?»

Isaiah said, “This will be the special thing for you to see from the Lord, to show that the Lord will do what He has said. Will the shadow go ten steps farther, or go back ten steps?”

10 Y Ezequías dijo: «Que la sombra avance diez grados es fácil; lo difícil es que la sombra retroceda.»

Hezekiah answered, “It is easy for the shadow to go ten steps farther. But let the shadow turn back ten steps.”

11 E ntonces el profeta Isaías oró al Señor, y el Señor hizo que la sombra retrocediera los diez grados que había avanzado en el reloj de Ajaz. Ezequías y los emisarios de Babilonia

So Isaiah the man of God cried to the Lord, and the Lord brought the shadow back ten steps, on the steps set up by King Ahaz. Men Come from Babylon

12 P or esos días Merodac Baladán hijo de Baladán, rey de Babilonia, envió cartas y presentes a Ezequías por conducto de unos mensajeros, pues se había enterado de que Ezequías había caído enfermo.

At that time Berodach-baladan, a son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a gift to Hezekiah. For he heard that Hezekiah had been sick.

13 C uando Ezequías lo supo, les mostró todo su palacio y sus tesoros, con la plata y el oro, y las especias y ungüentos preciosos. También les mostró su depósito de armas y todo lo que había en sus tesoros. No hubo nada que Ezequías no les mostrara, tanto de su palacio como de todos sus dominios.

Hezekiah listened to them and showed them all his riches. He showed them the silver, the gold, the spices, the oil of much worth, the things used in battle, and all that was found in his store-rooms. There was nothing in his house, or in all the places of his rule, that Hezekiah did not show them.

14 P ero el profeta Isaías vino y le dijo al rey Ezequías: «¿Qué te han dicho esos hombres? ¿De dónde vienen?» Y Ezequías le respondió: «Vienen de Babilonia, un país muy lejano.»

Then Isaiah the man of God came to King Hezekiah and said, “What did these men say? From where have they come to you?” Hezekiah said, “They have come from a far country, from Babylon.”

15 I saías volvió a decir: «¿Y qué es lo que vieron en tu palacio?» Ezequías respondió: «Vieron todo lo que tengo allí. No quedó nada de mis tesoros que yo no les haya mostrado.»

Isaiah said, “What have they seen in your house?” And Hezekiah answered, “They have seen all that is in my house. There is nothing among my riches that I have not shown them.”

16 E ntonces Isaías le dijo a Ezequías: «Oye ahora la palabra del Señor:

Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, “Hear the word of the Lord.

17 “ Vienen días en que todo lo que está en tu palacio, y todas las riquezas que tus antepasados acumularon hasta el día de hoy, será llevado a Babilonia, sin dejar nada.” El Señor lo ha dicho.

’See, the days are coming when all that is in your house, all that your fathers have kept in store to this day, will be carried to Babylon. Nothing will be left,’ says the Lord.

18 A tus hijos, a los que vas a engendrar, se los llevarán y los harán eunucos, para que sirvan en el palacio del rey de Babilonia.»

’And some of your sons who will be born to you will be taken away. They will be servants in the house of the king of Babylon.’”

19 E ntonces Ezequías le dijo a Isaías: «Es buena la palabra del Señor que me has comunicado.» Después añadió: «Al menos habrá paz y seguridad mientras yo viva.» Muerte de Ezequías

Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “The word of the Lord which you have spoken is good.” For he thought, “Why not, if there will be peace and people will be safe in my days?” The Death of Hezekiah

20 L os demás hechos de Ezequías, y todo su poder, y sus obras en el estanque y el acueducto para llevar agua a la ciudad, se hallan registrados en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá.

Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah and all his strength are written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah. He made the pool and the ditch and brought water into the city.

21 Y Ezequías fue a reunirse con sus padres, y en su lugar reinó su hijo Manasés.

Hezekiah died, and his son Manasseh became king in his place.
