1 » Tú, hijo de hombre, toma un cuchillo afilado o una navaja de barbero, y aféitate la cabeza y la barba; toma luego una balanza, y divide y pesa los cabellos.

“As for you, son of man, take a sharp sword. Use it to cut the hair from your head and face. Then weigh and divide the hair.

2 C uando el sitio de la ciudad llegue a su fin echarás al fuego una tercera parte de ellos, a la vista de todos; otra tercera parte la desmenuzarás con espada por toda la ciudad; y la tercera parte restante la arrojarás al viento. Yo voy a perseguirlos espada en mano.

A third part you must burn in the fire in the center of the city, when the days of the battle are completed. Then take a third part and cut it up with your sword as you move around the city. And a third part you must throw to the wind. For I will pull out a sword behind them.

3 T oma también unos pocos de tus cabellos, y sujétalos en el borde de tu manto,

Take a small number of the hairs and tie them in the cloth of your coat.

4 o tros pocos de ellos los echarás al fuego, para que se quemen, y de allí el fuego se propagará por toda el pueblo de Israel.»

Take some more of them and throw them into the fire, and burn them up. A fire will spread from there to all the people of Israel.

5 A sí ha dicho Dios el Señor: «¡Aquí tienen a Jerusalén! La establecí en medio de las naciones y de los países a su alrededor.

The Lord God says, ‘This is Jerusalem. I have set her in the center of the nations, with lands around her.

6 P ero ella cambió mis decretos y mis ordenanzas. Su maldad fue mayor que la de las naciones y países a su alrededor, pues no obedeció mis decretos y mis mandamientos, sino que los desechó.»

But she has turned against My Laws worse than the nations and the lands around her. The people of Jerusalem have turned away from My Laws and have not obeyed them.’

7 P or lo tanto, así ha dicho el Señor: «Ustedes se han portado peor que las naciones a su alrededor. No han seguido mis mandamientos, ni han obedecido mis leyes. ¡Ni siquiera se han sujetado a las leyes de las naciones a su alrededor!.»

So the Lord God says, ‘You have been more sinful than the nations around you. You have not walked in My Laws or kept them. You have not even kept Laws like the nations around you have. Because you have acted this way,’

8 P or lo tanto, así ha dicho Dios el Señor: «Jerusalén, yo estoy contra ti, y voy a dictar sentencia contra ti a la vista de las naciones.

the Lord God says, ‘I Myself am against you, and I will punish you in the eyes of the nations.

9 P or tus acciones tan repugnantes, voy a hacer contigo lo que nunca antes hice, ni volveré a hacer.

Because of all the things you have done which I hate, I will do with you what I have never done before, and what I will never do again.

10 E n tus calles, los padres se comerán a sus hijos, y los hijos se comerán a sus padres. Voy a dictar sentencia contra ti, y lanzaré a los cuatro vientos todo lo que de ti quede.

Fathers will eat their sons among you, and sons will eat their fathers. I will punish you and divide you, and spread to every wind those of you who are left.

11 P or haber profanado mi santuario con todas tus abominaciones, yo, el Señor, juro que voy a destruirte por completo y sin misericordia. ¡No te voy a perdonar! —Palabra del Señor.

You have made My holy place unclean with all your hated objects of worship and sinful ways. So as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘for sure I will turn away from you. My eye will have no pity and I will punish all of you.

12 » Una tercera parte de tus habitantes morirá en tus calles por causa de la peste y el hambre; una tercera parte de ellos morirá por la espada en tus alrededores, y la tercera parte restante la esparciré por los cuatro vientos. ¡Voy a perseguirlos espada en mano!

One third of you will die by disease or be destroyed by hunger among you. A third will be killed by the sword around you. And a third I will spread to every wind, and go after them with a sword.

13 A sí se calmará mi furor y se saciara mi enojo. Así quedaré satisfecho. Y una vez que se haya calmado mi enojo, ustedes sabrán que yo, el Señor, he hablado.

‘This is how My anger will stop. I will cause My anger to be upon them, and I will be comforted. Then they will know that I, the Lord, have spoken in My jealousy when I have sent My anger upon them.

14 » Voy a dejarte en ruinas. Serás la burla de las naciones que te rodean, y de todos los que pasen a tu lado.

I will make you a waste and a shame among the nations around you, in the eyes of all who pass by.

15 C uando en mi furor e indignación te reprenda y dicte yo sentencia contra ti, serás motivo de burla y oprobio entre las naciones que te rodean. ¡Les servirás de escarmiento y de motivo de espanto. Yo, el Señor, lo he dicho.

You will be a shame, and people will speak against you. You will show people the danger of sinning and fill the nations around you with fear, when I punish you in anger and with angry words. I, the Lord, have spoken.

16 » Cuando yo lance contra ustedes las mortales saetas del hambre, para destruirlos, haré también que aumente el hambre entre ustedes, pues les quitaré el abasto de pan.

I will keep you from getting food. I will make your hunger worse, and take away the bread you need.

17 V oy a lanzar contra ustedes hambre, peste y muerte, y bestias feroces que los devoren y espadas que les quiten la vida. Yo, el Señor, lo he dicho.»

I will send hunger and wild animals against you, and they will take away your children. Disease and death will pass through you, and I will bring the sword against you. I, the Lord, have spoken.’”
