The share of land for the family group of the people of Judah by their families was south to the land of Edom. It went to the Desert of Zin at the far south.

2 S u frontera sur partía de la costa del Mar Salado, seguía por la bahía que mira hacia el sur,

The south side of their land was from the south end of the Salt Sea.

3 y continuaba hacia la cuesta de Acrabín; seguía hasta Zin, para continuar subiendo al sur hasta Cadés Barnea; al pasar por Jesrón subía por Adar y daba la vuelta a Carca;

It went south of the hill of Akrabbim and on to Zin. Then it went up by the south of Kadesh-barnea and on to Hezron and Addar and turned to Karka.

4 d e allí pasaba a Asmón, salía al arroyo de Egipto y terminaba en el mar. Ésta era su frontera sur.

It went on to Azmon and the river of Egypt and ended at the sea. This was the south side of their land.

5 S u frontera oriental era el Mar Salado, hasta la desembocadura del Jordán. Su frontera norte iba desde la bahía del mar, donde desemboca el Jordán,

The east side was the Salt Sea, as far as the end of the Jordan. The north side was from the part of the sea at the end of the Jordan.

6 s ubía por Bet Joglá y pasaba al norte de Bet Arabá; de aquí subía a la roca de Boán Ben Rubén;

It went up to Beth-hoglah, passed north of Beth-arabah, and went up to the stone of Bohan the son of Reuben.

7 s ubía luego a Debir desde el valle de Acor, y al norte miraba sobre Gilgal, que está frente a la subida de Adumín, al sur del arroyo, y pasaba hasta los manantiales de Ensemes, para salir a la fuente de Roguel.

It went up to Debir from the valley of Achor, then turned north to Gilgal beside the hill of Adummim which is on the south side of the valley. It went on to the waters of En-shemesh, and ended at Enrogel.

8 E sta frontera sube por el valle de Ben Jinón por el costado sur de los jebuseos, que es Jerusalén; sube luego por la cumbre del monte que por el lado norte queda frente al valle de Jinón hacia el occidente, al final del valle de Refayin.

Then the side of their land went up the valley of Ben-Hinnom to the hill of the Jebusite on the south (that is, Jerusalem). It went on to the top of the mountain beside the valley of Hinnom on the west, at the north end of the valley of Rephaim.

9 E sta frontera da un rodeo desde la cumbre del monte hasta donde nace el manantial de Neftoa, y sale a las ciudades del monte de Efrón, rodea a Baalá, que es Quiriat Yearín,

The side of their land then went from the top of the mountain to the well of the waters of Nephtoah. It went on to the cities of Mount Ephron, then turned to Baalah (that is, Kiriath-jearim).

10 y luego gira desde Baalá hacia el occidente, al monte de Seir, pasando a un costado del monte de Yearín, en dirección norte, que es Quesalón; de allí baja a Bet Semes y pasa a Timna;

The side of their land went around west of Baalah to Mount Seir. It went on to the north side of Mount Jearim (that is, Chesalon), then down to Beth-shemesh and on through Timnah.

The side of their land went on to the north side of Ekron. Then it turned to Shikkeron and went on to Mount Baalah and on to Jabneel, and ended at the sea.

12 L a frontera occidental es el Mar Mediterráneo. Éstas eran las fronteras del territorio de los hijos de Judá, en todo su contorno, conforme al número de sus familias. Caleb conquista Hebrón y Debir

The west side of their land was along the side of the Great Sea. These are the sides of the land of the people of Judah by their families.

13 J osué le dio a Caleb hijo de Yefune su parte entre los hijos de Judá, conforme a lo que el Señor le había ordenado. Le dio la ciudad de Quiriat Arbá, padre de Anac, que más tarde fue conocida como Hebrón.

Joshua gave Caleb son of Jephunneh a share among the people of Judah, as the Lord told him. It was Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron), named for Arba, the father of Anak.

14 C aleb venció a los tres hijos de Anac, es decir, a Sesay, Ajimán y Talmay, y los echó de allí.

Caleb drove away from there the three sons of Anak. The children of Anak were Sheshai, Ahiman and Talmai.

15 L uego marchó contra los habitantes de Debir, que antes era Quiriat Séfer.

From there he went to fight against the people of Debir. The name of Debir had been Kiriath-sepher before.

Caleb said, “I will give my daughter Achsah as a wife to the one who fights against Kiriath-sepher and takes it.”

17 Y fue su propio hermano, Otoniel hijo de Cenaz, quien la conquistó, y Caleb le dio a su hija Acsa por mujer.

Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s brother, took it. So Caleb gave him his daughter Achsah as a wife.

18 C uando ya se iban, Otoniel la persuadió para que le pidiera a su padre tierras labrantías. Entonces Acsa se bajó del asno, y Caleb le preguntó: «¿Qué te pasa?»

When she came to Othniel, she talked him into asking her father for a field. When she got down off her donkey, Caleb said to her, “What do you want?”

Achsah answered, “Give me a gift. You have given me the land of the Negev. Give me wells of water also.” So Caleb gave her the wells in the high-land and in the valley.

But the sons of Judah could not drive out the Jebusites, the people of Jerusalem. So the Jebusites live with the people of Judah at Jerusalem to this day.
