1 E l Señor le dijo a Moisés: «Habla con los sacerdotes hijos de Aarón, y diles que no se contaminen por ningún muerto de su pueblo,
The Lord said to Moses, “Say to the religious leaders, the sons of Aaron, ‘No one should make himself unclean for a dead person among his people,
2 a menos que se trate de un pariente cercano, de su madre o su padre, de su hijo o su hermano,
except for his own family, his mother, father, son, daughter and brother,
3 o de una hermana soltera y cercana al sacerdote, y que no haya tenido marido. Por alguien así podrán contaminarse.
or his young sister who is near to him because she has had no husband. For her he may make himself unclean.
4 P ero no se contaminarán ni se harán impuro, como cualquier hombre del pueblo.
He should not make himself unclean as a husband among his people, and so make himself sinful.
5 » No se harán tonsuras en la cabeza, ni se recortarán la punta de la barba, ni se harán heridas en la carne.
They should not cut all the hair from any part on their heads, or cut part of the hair off their face, or make cuts in their flesh.
6 S e consagrarán a mí, su Dios, y no profanarán mi nombre, porque ellos me presentan las ofrendas encendidas y el pan que se me ofrece. Por lo tanto, deberán ser santos.
They should be holy to their God and not put the name of their God to shame. For they give the gifts by fire to the Lord, the bread of their God. So they must be holy.
7 » No podrán casarse con una ramera ni con una mujer de mala fama, ni con una mujer a la que su marido haya repudiado, porque los sacerdotes están consagrados a mi servicio.
They should not take a woman who is unclean because of selling the use of her body. They should not take a woman who is divorced from her husband. For the religious leader is holy to his God.
8 U stedes deben mantenerlos santos, pues ofrecen mi pan. Para ustedes, ellos serán santos, porque yo, el Señor, que los santifico, soy santo.
So you must set him apart, for he gives the bread of your God. He will be holy to you. For I, the Lord Who sets you apart, am holy.
9 » Si la hija de un sacerdote comienza a prostituirse, deshonra a su padre y será condenada a morir quemada.
If the daughter of any religious leader makes herself sinful by selling the use of her body, she puts her father to shame. She will be burned with fire.
10 » El que sea sumo sacerdote entre sus hermanos, y en cuya cabeza se haya derramado el aceite de la unción, y que haya sido consagrado para llevar puestas las vestiduras, no deberá descubrirse la cabeza ni rasgarse las vestiduras,
‘The head religious leader on whose head the holy oil has been poured, and who has been set apart to wear the clothing, must not take the covering off his head or tear his clothes.
11 n i tampoco entrar en donde haya algún cadáver. Ni siquiera por su padre o por su madre se contaminará.
He must not go near any dead person or make himself unclean even for his father or mother.
12 N o podrá salir de mi santuario, ni profanarlo, porque él ha sido consagrado para mí, por el aceite de la unción. Yo soy el Señor.
He must not go out of the holy place or sin against the holy place of his God. For the crown of the holy oil of his God is on him. I am the Lord.
13 D eberá tomar por esposa a una doncella.
He should take a wife who has never had a man before.
14 N o se casará con ninguna mujer que sea viuda, o repudiada, o de mala fama, o ramera, sino que de su pueblo tomará por mujer a una doncella,
He should not marry a woman whose husband has died, or a divorced woman, or one who has made herself sinful by selling the use of her body. But he should marry a woman from his own people, who has never had a man.
15 p ara que no profane su descendencia entre su pueblo. Yo soy el Señor, que los santifico.»
By doing this he will not sin against his children among his people. For I am the Lord Who makes him holy.’”
16 E l Señor habló con Moisés, y le dijo:
Then the Lord said to Moses,
17 « Habla con Aarón y dile que, en ningún momento, ninguno de sus descendientes que tenga algún defecto podrá acercarse a mí, su Dios, para ofrecer mi pan.
“Say to Aaron, ‘None of your children or their children who has something wrong with his body should go near to give the bread as a gift to his God.
18 N o podrá acercarse ningún varón con algún defecto, sea éste ciego, cojo, mutilado, deforme,
For no one whose body is not perfect should come near, no blind man, or man who cannot walk, or one with a marked face, or a bad arm or leg,
19 o que tenga roto un pie o una mano,
or a man who has a broken foot or hand,
20 o sea jorobado o enano, o que tenga una nube en el ojo, o sarna, o alguna irritación de la piel, o un testículo magullado.
or a man with a crooked upper back from birth, or a very little man, or one who has a bad eye or skin trouble or sores, or one whose sex parts have been crushed.
21 N ingún descendiente del sacerdote Aarón podrá acercarse ante mí para presentarme las ofrendas encendidas, si tiene algún defecto. Por tener ese defecto no podrá acercarse a mí para ofrecerme el pan.
No man among the children of Aaron the religious leader, who has something wrong with his body, should come near to give the Lord’s gifts by fire. He should not come near to give the bread of his God, because he has something wrong with him.
22 P odrá comer de mi pan, del alimento muy santo y de las cosas santificadas,
He may eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy and of the holy.
23 p ero por tener un defecto no podrá acercarse a la parte posterior del velo ni al altar, para que no profane mi santuario, porque yo soy el Señor, que los santifico.»
But he should not come near the curtain or the altar, because he has something wrong with him, and so he may not sin against My holy places. For I am the Lord Who makes them holy.’”
24 Y Moisés les comunicó todo esto a Aarón y a sus hijos, y a todos los hijos de Israel.
So Moses spoke to Aaron and to his sons and to all the people of Israel.
